One thing that's interesting here is that he was accused of exporting (or at least trying to) the drugs (meth).
-
@boomzilla Which seems odd to me, since meth is so easy to manufacture locally. I was going to say that one constantly hears news stories about a drug lab being raided, and it's always meth, but I don't think I've heard of one recently; I guess it's so common that it's not really news any more.
-
@HardwareGeek he was (allegedly) exporting to Australia. It might be more difficult there. Or at least compared to China.

This is not about drugs, just China trying to force Canada to do what they want

@boomzilla Is this Giant-Carlisle (like in the nameplate in the image and with the "Martin's" reference) or Giant-Landover (like the stores mentioned at the end of the article and the Stop & Shop reference), or both?
And can someone at Ahold Delhaize please fix that mess? They've got both Giant chains, Stop & Shop, and A&P; just friggin coalesce them all into the new brand Stop & P!
-
@TwelveBaud it says they've been testing the robots in Carlisle and are going to start having them in the ones in Virginia. I have no idea about all the corporate structure stuff you're discussing. I just go to the store that's down the street.
-
@boomzilla The one down the street from you and me, with the citrus sections logo, is Giant-Landover. The ones in like the center of the state and in PA, with the someone's-playing-with-the-big-Impact-marker logo, is Giant-Carlisle. They're both named Giant Food Stores, they both have loyalty programs named BonusCard, and they're both owned by the same investment company, but they're completely separately operated and managed and share nothing else. Except maybe this, apparently; I have no idea.

That's a really unfortunate branding. Has anybody thought about how you pronounce that?

Of course, the appropriate response of "well don't pay it if you don't like the price," hasn't occurred to them.
Edit: "widespread outrage"
Uh huh.

Seems we have Brexit sorted then. MP's have now moved onto...
Theresa May is facing an unprecedented crisis as she battles a no-confidence vote to keep her administration in office just 10 weeks before Brexit day -- and with no divorce deal in sight.
But for 20 minutes, the British Parliament will pause its historic deliberations on the future of the U.K. and the survival of the government for a short debate about mailboxes.

Okay, so they reject the proposed Brexit deal in a landslide. Just as expected.
The obvious consequence should be her resignation or a vote of no confidence. And yet she survives the no confidence vote? So do you support her or not?!
TDEMSYRs!

@topspin I suspect many parliamentarians recognize they don't want to be the next one getting that job.

It was a confidence vote for "the government", not a confidence vote for "the prime minister" - we had the latter last month, and she was found wanting by quite a few of the people eligible to vote.
Meanwhile the general public - of those who care - have generally lost confidence in "parliament." #SackThe650

That's pretty understandable since, and I repeat myself, this vote has shown that at least 115 MPs are absolute morons.
No matter your political stance, there are only two sane options: You vote for the deal XOR you vote against the government that negotiated the deal.

trendTIC reports that during this interview, the Redbanc employee was asked to download, install, and run a file named ApplicationPDF.exe, a program that would help with the recruitment process and generate a standard application form.
Potential employee, please download and run this unknown executable as part of the application process.
Ok, sure.
Thank you. That's actually the end of the application process. You just failed.

@boomzilla If I ever have the opportunity to go to Rome again, I know where I'm not going to throw any more coins.

@topspin
Except (1) the lead opposition party is in favor of Remain and (2) most of the 105 MPs are on the extreme Leave side of the spectrum. They voted against the deal because it wasn’t a hard ENOUGH Brexit, and would prefer a No Deal exit over Remain.

They voted against the deal because it wasn’t a hard ENOUGH Brexit, and would prefer a No Deal exit over Remain. But the leader of the opposition secretly wants to leave (because he's dreaming of a communist utopia) despite the rest of his party remaining, while the prime-minister originally pretended to want to remain but actually wants to leave (mostly because she's still sulking about some European Court of Justice rulings that went against her).
So at least half the country wants to remain (but many were too lazy to vote), ~ 2/3rds of parliament want to remain, but a couple of idiot party leaders are spoiling everything and will throw the toys out the pram rather than talk to each other.

Why the fuck is that shit not automated? Also, why aren't certificates renewed a month in advance?
Just your regular government incompetence, nothing to see here...
I noticed a long time ago that the government is by far the worst about renewing certificates.
