@boomzilla I dunno. I feel like it would be more obvious to spot the symbolic version than a literal one.
But the bug would end up being in the overloading and that would be even harder to spot.
It’s not harder to implement
__gt__
than it is to implementgt
. Nothing changes there. It’s just much, much nicer to use.
-
@Bulb assuming the overloading was set up correctly, the issue then falls back to spotting >= vs > - dunno about you but I feel I’d spot that more easily than spotting I’d called .ge() instead of .gt() or vice versa.

Assuming you knew that wasn't supposed to be testing for equality... Codewise, it's perfectly fine. Understanding logic is, well, that's what we get paid the big bucks for.

No, it would just have been using

or vice versa (CBA to go back and look).

Apple enters the VR ring...
-
@Arantor if it works the way Apple say it does then it looks good, but not at $3499.

Nah, it doesn't. VR goggles are (very) uncomfortable to wear, being wired makes it even worse and this overpriced entry does nothing to fix it.
But what makes it a pointless endeavor is that the whole functionality is bad. Stuff floating in the air is not better than a stationary screen - it's more distracting, real view interferes with it, it's of worse quality and interface is less convenient. That's not an Apple problem, but problem of VR as a whole.
-

It does not matter if it works.
Apple fanbois will buy it, and when you do not have it, you are thought of being a looser. Must have! Just like iPhone. It will be a succes story.

I still want to know what happens when the wearer has myopia or hyperopia. That's a lot of potential users, and demanding they all get laser eye surgery before using your product isn't going to be a winning strategy. Another issue is that some people have pretty damp eyes; the goggles don't just do nothing, they mist up rapidly!
-

The display is set to appear as if at some distance. Probably relatively far (there needs to be at least some optics, because even healthy eyes don't focus to less than about a foot). So for farsighted people it shouldn't be a problem and the nearsighted need to wear their glasses or lenses under the goggles.

Zero interest in getting an overpriced headache generator.-- Sent from my iPhone

The more I hear, the less interested I am in getting one. The complexity of dealing with people's actual vision is going to be a problem, and the fogging problem will be an issue. (It's sometimes a problem for me if I just wear aviators when driving, unless I leave a big enough gap for air to circulate past my eyeballs.)

I found the following at the bottom of the marketing page:
- Valid prescription required. Not all prescriptions are supported. Vision correction accessories are sold separately.
I haven't found where the footnote is actually mentioned, but it does sound like you might need an
adapteraccessory (and extra cash, because Apple).

Rumor says that apple wants you to get special prescription lenses for the headset, i.e., that there is less space for normal glasses than other headsets so far. Sounds like an apple thing to do, but I've only heard it said in passing, so take it with a grain of salt. (Edit: by JBert just above this post)
Normally you use optics to move the screen away (optically) to an average distance. Then use stereo rendering to do further adjustments (e.g., increase/decrease disparity in the rendered images). There's still a mismatch between the distance you're focusing on (which is the optical distance to the display) and the distance an object appears (stereo vision); IIRC this is one of the things that can cause headaches/discomfort (this also holds true for other stereo stuff).

Sitting in front of a camera with this thing on looks weird so they invented something for using FaceTime:
Your digital Persona allows others to see you while you’re wearing Vision Pro. It’s a dynamic, natural representation of your face and hand movements while you’re using FaceTime.
How fake this looks will need to be seen.

I'm talking about this feature:
Basically search for "Make meetings more meaningful." and click the orange "Learn more about connection" button.
There's a very short video of how it works as second item in the gallery, but there's only 1-2 seconds of this "avatar" 's animation.

This is why I hate corporations/marketing people. Their solution to "make things more meaningful" is to replace a video of your actual face with a fake video.

You think Facetime isn't used for showing more than faces? Not that I have personal experience (I don't even have an iPhone), but I'm sure Rule 34 applies to Facetime, too.

They're shockingly ugly for an apple product. I was expecting something cooler. The poor model looks like some bug-eyed alien.
I'm actually interested in what they do with them. I'm just not sure what though.
$3500 though. That's a lot to swallow even for Apple products. Their higher-end products are usually tax write-offs for the likes of me. I'm not sure how I would get a VR headset written off though. That's got audit written all over it.

Something about online meetings and stuff? Given the price point, I'm still thinking that apple tried to position this as a business/productivity device. (What else are you going to do on it? Apple's not exactly big on gaming. Porn doesn't require drawing eyes on the outside.)
-

Naaa thats the hipsters and creative types they like to build their image around. Corporate types that are going to expense a new phone yearly to bank on that trendiness is where the real money is.
I watched the video. It's actually what Ive been looking for for years. Basically a lightweight multi-monitor setup on my head. Pity its apple and two thousand dollars too much. Getting apple to work in non apple workflows are not worth the effort.
I toy with going all apple sometimes but theres always some weird apple quirk that prevents me. Price too.
