I like that.The post came from outer space, of course there's going to be some character encoding issues
-
@hungrier Oui oui oui, La France , c'est outer space.

@Zecc TBF, the article was in Metro. I assume the UK version of Metro has about as high standards as Metro does anywhere else. (I.e., the standards are so low that if translated into physical altitudes, we're talking single-atom layers. Using small atoms.)
-
@cvi Yes, and it isn't really the lowest standards present in UK newspapers. Others appear to be attempting to scrape the bottom of the barrel from somewhere near the lower edge of the Earth's mantle.
-
@Tsaukpaetra it's in the EC set, which was known to be bollocks as of the first time it rolled out. Official backdoor attempt is official backdoor attempt, film at 11.

In this economy?!

IMO, it might have been funny with an appropriate misleading description, but plain out lying just makes you sound untrustworthy when you inevitably get found out.
-
@topspin Can we use virtual particles instead? Those are still free for the moment. Not sure if they have a meaningful size, but it doesn't really matter in the context...

He should have named/referred to the star using another name for chorizo in a different language.

@Applied-Mediocrity that's news to me.

I'm inclined to object to statues that look like something that I threw together in lego bricks. I'm adding Cambridge to the list of places I'll burn to the ground.

The resemblance, it's uncanny!

Not the first time someone has pulled something like this:

@da-Doctah
E_NOT_A_STATUE
-
@da-Doctah This is what happens when you drag the LOD slider all the way to the minimum, because the statue won't render quickly enough on your boss's crappy laptop otherwise.

@Boner if there's one thing we could do with more of...attacks on modern art is probably much lower on that list...but it's definitely on there.

The sculpture in the second article was certainly erected.
-
If it actually was a "phallic statue" with a 3m erection, it might even count as art. Lots of precedence for that.
Also, the people complaining about a naked statue need to get their heads out of their asses.

I am fine with abstract art, but I object to calling it as statue of a specific person. A statue of a specific person should be recognizable as, well, resembling that specific person.

Correct. It should be condemned because it's pseudoartistic trash.
-
@GOG I've said it before and I'll say it again: real art doesn't need installation instructions.
-
@topspin said in In other news today...:

Indeed. With a slight investment of time, effort, and fabric, they could for instance clothe the statues.

I wasn't there, but I'm pretty sure that something like the Statue of Liberty had some pretty detailed installation instructions.
