Perl 6: second-system syndrome done right
Too late for that. They're already up to at least third-system syndrome…
-
It's second-systems all the way down...
-
I just got VC running on Mac OSX. Albeit using DOSBox which should be available for 64 bit Windows too
-
You can run anything on anything with the right emulator
-
Isn't that what NTVDM should have been?
-
Maybe? I'unno *shrugs*
-
I think there's some sort of legacy console option in Command Prompt's settings. Dunno, I've already wiped Win10 out and decided to hold on until SP1 at least.
-

NTVDM is not supported in 64-bit versions of Windows, which do not support 16-bit code of any kind, including MS-DOS programs.
So it's DOSBox or another emulator, or nothing at all

Doesn't look like that sort of option exists in Command Prompt. Not on Win8.1 64-bit, anyway.

Right, I was thinking of @FrostCat's Win10 problems.
You need a proper virtual machine to run a 16-bit application on a 64-bit system, since the 8086 mode of the processor it was using isn't available. Unless you screw with VT-x, but I know nothing about it.

I deliberately installed the 32-bit version of Win10 on a test machine at the office. If I need to run 16-bit apps, though I have a 32-bit Win 7 VM on my desktop, and that's what I would recommend to any poor soul who has to run one.

Here's a nickel kid, go buy yourself a DOSBox.

That's gonna help a lot with the Windows program I need to run.
-
Set up a Hyper-V and run Windows 3.1 in it?
-
You can install Win3.x on DOSBox just fine. Probably also Win95, but I'd just use a VM for that.

Actually my work PC doesn't have SLAT and can't Hyper-V. For a couple more days, then I get a core i5 to replace this POS Pentium.

That's why naming it "Perl 6" was a less than stellar idea IMHO.
Perl One.
Your numbering looks funny.
Everyone knows that 360 comes between 1 and One.
