In which we help @RaceProUK switch to Chrome
-
Yup.
It's... OK. I'll probably stick with Chrome. It's fast though, so that's a plus.
-
Right click the icon next to the URL on the address bar.
left click works too. i found it because i was clicking the lock icon to view certificate info.

-
yeah yeah..... reading to the end.
:-P

Wasn't it you who gave me static about that just earlier today? Or else your cohort, which is close enough?

Of course @trwtfbot Samsung's TouchWiz UI

Did it honestly not occur to you that I did that? How else would I have reason to say "I don't see that".
And no, clicking either of the links doesn't make the window expand to show those things.
I have that on 41.someversion.
It seems that they've decided that they were showing too many options.
Anything non-default still shows up, but it wants you to click through to change the defaults.

Well, here at home where I'm not on the beta, I see the full menu. I assure you that at work, clicking neither the Show cookies nor site settings links gave me the longer menu.

Yeah, the "settings" brings you here:

Why type µ when you can type μ?
Today's lesson in arbitrary markup layer interactions:
\
cannot be used to escape HTML entities.- Only
``
can do that:µ
μ
-
Or µ
-
Are you sure you don't mean µ?
-
I meant type
µ
as the raw input, so that you would get µ as the baked output.Filed under: Half-baked
P.S.: Hurray for read-only mode.
-
I think you over-amped it.
-
-
I added an extra level of escaping so that the baked would show what you would have to type into the raw to get the desired baked output.
I think you over-amped it.

I literally cannot be bothered to remember that, but thanks for trying.
-
I used to know a guy who broke his neck back in the day they didn't bother trying to keep your hands from freezing in fists. He typed with a pen in one hand and the thumb of his other hand, and he just gave you a pitying look.
A pen and a thumb are both narrow enough to hit a single key. I think even a fennec fox's paws would probably be too big.
-
But a hedgehog's paws are just right :)
-
...... i am jelly.
:jealous:

never would have guessed!

There was a better picture than the one I picked but it was NSFW and I'm at W.
-
there's one i picked up on ■-chan ages ago that has the caption: "As a matter of fact i am f■■■ing jelly"
you can probably guess the rest of the picture from that (relatively) SFW-ish description.
-
I think even a fennec fox's paws would probably be too big.
I'm sure someone could come up with a prosthetic of some kind, or just tape a pencil to the paw.
-
I literally cannot be bothered to remember that, but thanks for trying.
Eh, fix it in the ninjaedit window...

I'm still staying with Firefox for the time being.
But I don't need help convincing to switch.
Lately it's been having problems repainting the window.
As in, needing to be convinced to do it now and then.
Usually a click on the titlebar does it, but... seriously ?

I switched from Firefox to Chrome too in the last couple of months on my home machine. It started out as an experiment to see if it was actually possible. For the most part, it works pretty well., but I still think its UI setup is vastly inferior to Firefox for a few reasons...
- It opens everything in popup overlays or in new tabs, rather than actual windows
- Cannot simply press Delete on URL autocomplete entry to remove it, cannot view history in sidebar, cannot sort history.
- It makes no attempt to use actual native controls, and so most tables, lists etc. seriously lack in usability. Firefox uses XUL markup to describe GUIs, while Chrome just uses basic HTML.
- No consistency across any extensions, mainly because of the above.
- Dev tools are also far uglier in Chrome.
- In general, every part of Chrome's settings and extensions pages look like Discourse pages, full of wasted white space and massive padding.
Not directly related to Chrome itself, but the Chrome webstore (addons site) is absolutely terrible. You cannot view an extension's details outside of the tiny little overlay window it gives you, and browsing comments/reviews is a mere afterthought (you also cannot edit or remove comments left there).
I continue to use Firefox at work, and I could switch back at home at any time, but fact is, they're both pretty similar in most respects.
I still wish Mozilla would fix their fucking decade-old bugs though.
