Helvetical Fronting

That is just depressing, no matter the colours.
-
OBDO.
-
Am I alone in using a white background?
Nope:
Unless I'm editing something as root, in which case even the window chrome has a different theme
-
hmmm.... got to admit i was not expecting you to post the source for one of @sockbot's SockModules... Admittedly that one was authored by you, but still...
-
Yes mistress Sultanatrix of Swypos; @RaceProUK's queen, I shall appear as summoned.
-
Nope:
I also use a white background. I simply can't be bothered to change it; I want to edit my code, not screw around with the decorations.
-
I liked the look of that Solarize theme so I'm trying it out in Eclipse now.
-
-
I started with zenburn, I believe, but I wanted a bit more contrast. Same problem with solarized. The chalky colors were a side effect I liked. I had to customize it a lot for all the resharper colors, but having overridden operators show up a different color is quite nice. I'll probably back off on the font soon, but I'll see how it goes.
-
I am a noob.
I can't read text on black, its like each letter sears my eyeball. When the letter is black it is soothing.
-
Weird? I don't think they're-
I'm thinking it depends on the furry.

Interesting. Almost.... ok. I can see this.
OMG Burn it with fire.

β¦I have no idea what the fuck that's meant to be
One question I do have though: why does it have archery targets on its knees?
-
why does it have archery targets on its knees?
"I used to be a furry like you, and then i took an arrow to the knee."
It demanded to be said! You can't blame me!

Although she also has an air of 'Yeah? And?' about herβ¦
I found many more examples of that, without "attitude?"
But it crosses the boundary for me once:
- It starts looking like their suit would be more suitable for a kids TV show, than an attempt to identify as an anthropomorphic animal. This one I find to be ethically questionable, and not just personal preference.
- The interactions seem to prefer being animals, rather than anthropomorphic animals. Because then any sexual interaction is more like bestiality. Meaning, when someone is desiring to be a horse rather than take on horse-like qualities. Personal preference this one, but there is it.
For example

OK, and even better.
Badass.
Borderline I have candy in my van territory.
Borderline needs psychological therapy.

I should add if you keep your monitor brightness above 33% or so, you are Hitler.

Adorable!

Impressive! (Though I also broke the image?)

I approve

β¦yeah, sometimes they do get a bit creepy
I found a picture with Barney in the crowd.
No. Wrong. Bad furry community.
-
I'm not really attracted to fursuits generally, though as a costumer I respect the amount of effort that goes into them. I'm much more into nekomimi-style outfits and fictions in which the blend is more natural -- fursuits end up looking kind of goofy to me.
Like this guy:
Nothing about him says "little kids" or "unintelligent animal". That guy's totally capable of consenting :)
-
Considering his brain is like 600cc, max... No he ain't.
-
Considering his brain is like 600cc, max... No he ain't.
The size of a brain has nothing to do with intelligence; a human brain is about a fifth the size of a sperm whale's brain, yet humans are several orders of magnitude more intelligent. What matters is the structure of the brain, and the speed of the neuron interconnects.
-
There is a minimum size, and its around 900cc. That's not to say animals with a bigger brain are more intelligent, but it is to say animals with a smaller brain cannot be intelligent.
That dog man has about the same intelligence as an actual dog. As drawn.
-
Unless he's a cyborg with a computer-brain
-
There is a minimum size, and its around 900cc.
interesting assertion. Do you have any references to back that up?
I mean it makes sense that there's a minimum size so i'm not calling you out on that. I'm more interested in why that minimum size would be 900cc? why would 800cc not work?
-
Or his brain isn't necessarily all in his skull; it's not unreasonable to think a bipedal kitsune with the full nine tails also has two brains
Technically, humans have two brains; the network of nerves and neurons in the digestive system is complex enough to be able to exhibit primitive intelligence.
-
Then too, there's that mess that happens when your hemispheres are disconnected.
(Explored to disturbing effect in A Scanner Darkly using drugs, as I expect you all know.)
-
Ah but its obviously a fantasy world with hand-clouds.
-
Not ones I can look up on my phone. When hominids had smaller brains, we couldn't use fire. When they became bigger, we could.
Admittedly this planet has only one reference point. But dogboy there is waaaay belong the minimum.
-
Speaking if our current subject, I must say that I'm not really into the style that Show By Rock's cg scenes use. Too Sonic for me. But they're admittedly well done.
-
There is a minimum size, and its around 900cc.
And yet, one remedy to epic chronic seizures is to remove half the brain.
-
Not ones I can look up on my phone.
well if you have any that can be looked up when you are on a proper PC i would be very interested in reading them.
When hominids had smaller brains, we couldn't use fire. When they became bigger, we could.
and that's an idea i can get behind. it does make sense that there is a minimum size. I'm more interested in what calculations went into determining that that minimum size was 0.9l.
-
Am I alone in using a white background?
I went back to white in Notepad++ and Eclipse because both of the "built-in" dark themes are far from perfect and I couldn't be arsed to fix them
-
Too Sonic for me
Funnily enough, I don't have a problem with that
@accalia said:it does make sense that there is a minimum size. I'm more interested in what calculations went into determining that that minimum size was 0.9l.
Agreed; also interested in reading about those calculations @blakeyrat ;)
-

I'm more willing to believe that human brain structure is styled a certain way, and that as that brain increases in size, we become more intelligent.
However, if the structure changes, the size become less important.
Of course, I'm in the camp that our intelligence really hasn't changed all that much, and that pre-historians vastly underestimate our ancestors.
I think one of the modern arrogances is that we believe so much that we are more intelligent with every generation. To the point that your average person doesn't understand that not having society would kill them.... many times over.
No, we have merely specialized over time.
Imagine that your intelligent personality was told he had to be a hunter and failed at it miserably. He didn't have time to start a fire. He was too busy sucking at spear chunking.
Then, the stupid people realized that letting the smart person think, was good for everyone. And as time has gone on, the smart people are given more cycles to purely thinking.
-
I liked the look of that Solarize theme so I'm trying it out in Eclipse now.
Might give that a go, see how it works out.
-
Indeed, and my comment was partially for your benefit, assuming you hadn't seen it. I tend to agree more with @Yamikuronue, however. Nekomimi are much less... troubling. But Slaanesh will keep up the production of them all, and find no shortage of souls.
-
(Explored to disturbing effect in A Scanner Darkly using drugs, as I expect you all know.)
*shudders*
I love that book, but damn it... that was disturbing to read.
-
Agreed; also interested in reading about those calculations
Here's a funny one
"When you look at cetaceans, they have big brains, absolutely," Manger
says. "But if you look at the actual structure of the brain, it's not
very complex. And brain size only matters if the rest of the brain is
organized properly to facilitate information processing."counterpoint.
Marino says that Manger's theories discount years of behavioral evidence
that show dolphins to be complex thinkers. What's more, she says, the
mammals have an unusual brain structure with a different functional map
and therefore cannot be compared with other species. Marino believes that the dolphin's unique brain organization may represent an alternate evolutionary route to complex intelligenceβand that molecules released in synapses may provide that alternative path.Um, so, Manger is wrong that brain structure counts more, because dolphins can think with complexity because they have a different brain structure.
-
That is exactly what I thought. I don't think I'll be rereading it.
-
I probably will, one day. It is a major downer, so it's not something I can just pick up at any time. Reading that while already feeling crappy probably wouldn't be the best idea ever.
The film was surprisingly well done though, and is easier to chew through.
-
I think I might possibly want to watch that at some point. But yeah, throughout that whole book, life looked like the sky from Neuromancer.
-
I think I might possibly want to watch that at some point.
Robert Downey Jr. as Barris is worth it alone. I watched it like a day after I finished the book and my jaw pretty much hit the floor when I saw his performance. And he apparently didn't even read it past the script.
Also, Keanu Revees is actually good in it.
-
Also, my PowerShell is black and amber, despite me being a young'un who never saw them dang things.
-
Bless you, son. Gas-plasma displays for the world!
-
Also, my PowerShell is black and amber, despite me being a young'un who never saw them dang things.
I shouldn't have worked on those things given when I got to work on a computer for the first time either.
"Fortunately', our school was so well equipped I had the privilege of enjoying the good old green displays.
On computers without hard drives (at least we had two floppy drives!). In 1998.

BTW, chalk on the blackboard theme? Disgusting. @tar's is also terrible. Ben's too, if that can be called a theme. Others are ok.
Correct. Themes can be evaluated objectively, of course they can.
-
As evidenced by my title, this is the sort of response I expected. Or in fact possibly "BURN THE HERETIC, PURGE THE UNCLEAN!" or something about the goggles.
-
Your theme is... interesting, but if it works for you, then who am I to tell you not to use it?
Similarly, my theme works for me, but if some loser tried to tell me it was "terrible" I'd just ignore them. Or maybe tell them to quit using Sublime Text and get a proper editor.
