i got the spoonerism. and i even got the typo reference, maybe....
but i have to ask: WHAT typo? even without hanzo edits there's no typo in that post....
edit: (unlike this post)
No typo, just the "no life" spoon badge
-
oh... well if @frostcat or @boomzilla would step up their game i'd gladly give up the spoon.

I'm happy in my 900-1000 posts per month range of activity. If anything, expect it to drop off a bit with the holiday season coming upon us.

I am not going to type 500 posts just to get it back. A hundred or two, maybe. But 500? Then I'm the old guy in Westerns, the "fastest gun in the West" who's sick of all the young whippersnappers challenging him to duels so they can try to take the crown.
There's a relevant Girl Genius, too, involving a hat, but I CBA to find it.
-
Do I need to point out my Knights of WTF title again?
Sure, since I don't remember what it is.
Redundancy's not a barrier to maintaining a high post count.

it's over there.

..... if you don't i will.... and i don't want to have to go through the archives looking for that.
it's a story the green Yeager says though IIRC

Jäger, actually. :) And I'm pretty sure it's the purple one, because the hat was purple. Anyway the comic was the one where the others point out that now he has the hat, they're starting a deadpool. "Sick to his stomach" isn't an expression you usually see on a Jäger.
-
Oh, or did you mean skin color, not clothing?
-
Jäger,
sorry, i stand corrected.
And I'm pretty sure it's the purple one, because the hat was purple
you're right. the hat was purple... dimos(?, the green one) has a greenish brown hat
"Sick to his stomach"
nope, but man do they know how to use it when they need to!
-
sorry, i stand corrected.
I don't blame you--I normally CBA to put in accented entities. I just took the effort of pendantry, since you complained about lack of same, once.
-
The thing I hate about web comics is how SLOW the story progresses. Do you read Freefall? The last, what, 6 months, have covered 30 minutes or so of in-universe time. The entire 10+-year or so run only covers a month of in-universe time!
If you don't read that comic, you should. One of the main characters has big ears.
-

i'm sold!

yeah. it's particularly annoying if it goes on hiatus half way through. you're all like: but i was reading that!
I don't blame you
about the accent sure, but the J=>Y was unacceptable. as such have a deserved flag for pedantry
-
Freefall.purrsia.com. There's about 1900 strips, as it's a 3x-weekly 3-panel. It's never had a hiatus, as far as I know, and he almost never misses an update.
Plus the strip's always up first thing in the morning, and he has no ads, nor almost anything else on the page, so the page loads like it's a relic from 1998.

Excellent. If anyone else wants to flag that post I won't complain.

(i was also mixing my comics.... Yeager is from Nodwick(also worth the read, comic is now complete though so no new content after the archives))

Just wondering: is this topic still eligible? Or has the UID been posted here?
-
Hmm, it would appear not. Only four topics have been struck down so far:
- Status thread
- Question thread
- Likes thread
- Moving Posts to an existing topic
-
AFAIK we havent drifted far enough into postbait for the UUID to be posted....
@pjh.... what was that UUID again?
;-)

Only if you have a hundred or so more otherwise-qualifying posts in it than I do!
-
is that a challenge?
-
-
-
I think it was * or so.
-
-
I'm now slightly tempted to make a bot that posts UUIDs and have it make a topic and post one every second until it excludes itself
yeah, yeah, I know it has to be posted by an admin. Maybe @PJH could adminify the bot for the lulz
-
I have no idea where I am in the standings but I'm still at the top of the queue for 2^13, that's good enough for me.
Still > 100 new threads and almost 100 unread to catch up on and I don't entirely like necroing stuff.

rank | username | percent | count

3 | boomzilla | 1.28 | 1066
4 | chubertdev | 1.70 | 1023
5 | blakeyrat | 2.13 | 975Still solidly in the top 5%
I don't entirely like necroing stuff.
aye, that's the trick, but remember our limit for necro is 7 days. the default is something like 3 months. ;-)
@pjh mentioned it at once point that our short necro timeout was mostly a joke...
-
Yes but I've been catching up on stuff back in October
For me personally much beyond 3 days feels like a necro - since around here we seem to live somewhat 'in the moment'.

hmm... well if that's not motivation to stay current i'm not sure what is!
-
It works for me ;)
-
Default is 6 months (180 days).

If you have something interesting to contribute, go for it. There's actually less pushback on necros around here than there used to be on CS. Of course, we don't have years old topics yet.
-
Nah, most of the stuff I've thought was in the random-thoughts category though the discussion about Discourse->NNTP did provoke something.

Friday->Monday? Pretty much, yup...
-
It is. The default is 180 days.
hmm... faulty memory on my part.
also, is anyone else annoyed that 6 months invariably means 180 days, when 182 or 183 days is actually closer to 6 months?
-
is anyone else annoyed that 6 months invariably means 180 days, when 182 or 183 days is actually closer to 6 months?
No, it's quite reasonable. When speaking of 'months' they are generically interpreted to be 30 days, which makes life easier than the alternative.

so just me then?
should have guessed. ;-)

Ok - so people only looked closely at the year attendance badge when I created them..
-
Ok - so people only looked closely at the year attendance badge when I created them..
well....
- there is no 180 day attendance badge
- all those badges are specified in terms of days and so don't bug me and 150 days is 150 days, that's an exact conversion. months to days isn't. if you average it though it works out to 182 and a little over a half days
- they're your badges so if you want to make them be 180 days = 6 months, i'm not going to argue
- out of all my pet peeves this one is about a goldfish of a pet. doesn't do much, and all i have to do is remember to feed it every day and change the water about once every other week.
-

A tricky problem.
I know! Let's decimalize our calendars. Because that has worked out well in the past.
-
A tricky problem.
not really.
I know! Let's decimalize our calendars.
or you know, not lossily convert between units of time. a month is not a fixed length of time as it varies between 28 and 31 days and so when converting from months to days or visa versa it is necessary to know when the conversion is happening, or if you are going to keep it TOY agnostic specify in integral numbers of days
-
I've never come across a scenario (yet) where the difference between 180 days and 6 months really matters.
I'm obviously not saying they don't exist, just I haven't come up against it so it doesn't bother me.
-

neither have I. it's just one of the things that bugs me....
-
Neither have I because any time it actually matters, they outright specify either '180 days' or '6 calendar months' and also generally clarify whether if you started from 31st and the 6th month doesn't have 31 days as to what that means.
IOW, the only times it might have happened, they picked one and ran with it. Usually the former, though, less ambiguous that way.
-
The only thing to keep in mind when dealing with "months" is that sometimes the expected behavior is to have something occur either on the same day of the month (e.g., the 3rd), or the same day of a week during a month.
For example, my running group has multiple sub-groups that run once a month. One is the first Thursday, one is the second Tuesday, and another is the fourth Tuesday. So I changed the run start entry form to pre-load the "next month's" date depending on the sub-group selected. I couldn't simply add 30 days.
That being said, no 2y12 badge yet. Sometime this week, though...
