Recommend To Me A New Avatar

I see blakeyrat as being more on his knees, arms offering up supplication to a false deity, crying WHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY WHY GOD WHY ME? and taking it out on us that his false god has forsaken him.
-
-
I like it but why is there a crappy UI in the image? I'd have to 'shop that out.
-
Yeah, good point, my bad. I deliberately didn't provide any kind of link because duh, but I didn't think about other people googling it.
-

So we need to morph together a rat and my "why would you do that?" meme.
-

Because the crappy UI is where the image originated. Someone came up with a website that let you pick two pokemon from a list and it would show a morph of them. Then someone else draw a detailed picture of the ratuk.
Also, "Consider replying to several posts at once"? FU discurse, I'll make two posts replying to different points of a single post if I want!
I guess I'm gonna be banned from TcotCDCK. But I'd assume anyone who posts here gets an autoban from that on general principles.

I found the perfect avatar for @blakeyrat!

Meh. You should have gone with the dickhead one.

I remember you liked these guys.

Wait, I paste a Flickr URL and instead of creating a link or some sort of onebox it embeds the image with no acknowledgement of source at all? WTF, Discourse. Not. Cool.
Source is here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/andars256/5416846431/?rb=1

I'm gonna change it again, this one looks like ass when scaled down to icon size. Its just a mess of colors.

Cool! Avatar hunting is fun. Here're a few more sloppy seconds.

Sigh, ok enough. Back to work now...

At least some of those are shirts on threadless. Or I think that's where I got the pumpkin shirt anyway.
-
-
Bleargh.
-
Well, since you don't like any of our suggestions, I suggest you go spend time with Google.
-
Or I'll just keep Zero III for awhile longer and wait until I see one during the course of my regular browsing.
This thread has served the purpose of slightly amusing me while bored at work.
-
I'm so glad of that. I wouldn't want you to get bored or anything.
-

The problem with most forums is they don't save old avatars, so this post shows the bunny one, since you switched back.
-
You want some weird stuff, look at jwz's blog. Although the images wouldn't really be NSFW.
-
Well the image is still posted in the thread, just hit control-minus until it looks like a mess of colors and there you go.
Creative problem solving.
-
Which one did you use, though? There's a lot of images in that thread, and "this one" doesn't help much.
ETA: Oh, was it that CGI videogame rat-with-a-hat? I thought you said you liked that one and might try it.
-
Oh sorry, it was this one:

Assuming that Discourse links to the right post...

The medieval-style crododile drawing? Too bad it didn't work, it was pretty cool. You should see if you can find someone with a modicum of artistic talent to redraw it for you smaller.

Added to RSS. I like the strange.

In case you don't recognize the name, he was one of the chief developers of Netscape. He got pissed off and quit the software development world about a decade ago, cashed out his stock, and bought a nightclub in San Francisco.

I think his most "DailyWTF-style utterance" is the CADT development model:
This is, I think, the most common way for my bug reports to open source software projects to ever become closed. I report bugs; they go unread for a year, sometimes two; and then (surprise!) that module is rewritten from scratch -- and the new maintainer can't be bothered to check whether his new version has actually solved any of the known problems that existed in the previous version.
I'm so totally impressed at this Way New Development Paradigm. Let's call it the "Cascade of Attention-Deficit Teenagers" model, or "CADT" for short.
EDIT: also the impetus of him leaving Netscape was their rewriting of his email code and replacing his working implementation of threading with one that basically didn't work at all, he wrote a really great long article on the gigantic WTFs in Netscape 4, if you can track it down it's well-worth reading.
EDITEDIT: He also wrote a pretty good gripe session about how retarded CDDB's database format was/is. (Is that still around?) Also well-worth reading for fans of WTFs.

Zero III is great anyway. Except for the way-too-many rabbit puns it used.

I thought the rabbit puns and nicknames were the best part.
Sigma's cat puns, however, were awful. (And yes, I know they were purposefully cheesy, but it wasn't funny.) Also, to paraphrase Retsupurae, the dude's name is "Sigma" and at no point nobody in the game finds that unusual or strange? Who the hell's name is "Sigma"?
My major regret is that he (Zero III) goes away in the last 2/3rds of the game. It wouldn't have been hard to keep him as a character, they just didn't-- even when there were opportunities to. (For example, in a lot of the puzzles you interact with various computers and computer-like machines, they could have put Zero III in charge of those.)
They basically invented the best villain in video game history, and used it only as a tutorial. Sigh.

Sigma's name is likely supposed to be a sort of pun, since an uppercase sigma character (Σ) is used in Mathematics as the sum operator. Then again, another character has the name Phi (another math pun, this time for the golden ratio?), so...

That confused me too. I guess they wanted to put more emphasis on other parts of the plot for the latter part of the game.
Actually, I did like how following different timelines ended up with slightly different dialogue for Zero III even in the puns when he's leaving.
It really is too bad Spike ChunSoft told Zero Escape creator Kotaro Uchikoshi that they weren't willing to fund a third game in the series at this time. Particularly bad since the (real) ending for Virtue's Last Reward blatantly set up the plot for one.
I haven't checked up on Operation Bluebird recently to see if they'd had any success sparking interest in the series.
-

Well it didn't make any money. Which is a shame, because I can't imagine how many thousands of man-hours went into crafting that crazy-ass branching plot.
Of course it didn't make any money because it only came out on Nintendo whatever-they're-calling-the-GameBoy-this-year and Vita when it could easily run on literally every iOS and Android device in the universe.
Then when they did port (the first) game to iOS, they removed the puzzles!? WTF?
I loved the fuck out of Virtue's Last Reward and I'd play 999 in a millisecond-- if I could. But I don't own a Nintendo whatever, and I don't own a iPad, and they haven't bothered to port it to anything I do own. I want to give them money for this thing! But I can't.
So it's no wonder they aren't making money on the property, despite basically everybody who's played it loving the shit out of it.
EDIT: except that last puzzle room. That was boiled bullshit.
-
Not that I should recommend highly questionable things, but I've heard you can run DS emulators (like Desmume) on the Vita and such, which are capable of playing 999.
The only problem with that is... 999 doesn't have the map thing like VLR does, which it desperately needed. While it may not have as many endings as VLR does, 999 does have 5 endings (and 1 lock). Even worse, 3 of the bad endings have multiple paths to reach them... and you need to start from the beginning after getting a bad ending.
They added the map to the iOS version, but you know how they screwed that one up already.
Anyway, I had a DS and got 999 a long time ago for it. VLR was actually one of the reasons I got a 3DS... alongside things like Professor Layton, Phoenix Wright, Luigi's Mansion, Mario & Luigi, etc...
Of course, with the PlayStation TV coming out in a few months, I may get one of those to play Vita games. I don't actually do a lot of mobile gaming and it's like half the price of an actual Vita. The catch is that you still need to buy a controller/memory card and it (obviously) doesn't have the touch input. Dangan Ronpa 1 and 2 sound interesting enough and I'm sure there are other Vita games that I'd find interesting.
-

Shit, really? That would make the game a real slog. I assume it still has the "skip dialog I've already heard"... right? Without EITHER of those, wow.

It does have that, but you end up having to hold down a button/stylus to do it (just like in VLR).
And the game sometimes has really long sets of dialogue. Even on fast forward, I think it takes 5 minutes to skip the dialogue after the first puzzle room.

Meanwhile, just changed my avatar.
So, download image from teh intertubez, go to preferences, upload to new avatar, hit save button.
No error, but avatar in the preferences window does not change despite my avatar having apparently changed.
Fuck you Jeff.

New Group Request: Broken Avatars Club
-
It isn't broken. It's fake-broken.
-
You realise, of course, that's just incitement for me to get myself a really broken avatar?
-
How could you possibly break it more?
-
How about Dragonzord?
Or how about this guy?

Did you use a PNG? Dicsourse is known to have issues with PNG files, though sometimes they will (eventually) work.
