The Official Funny Stuff Thread™

I usually post a comic when I see someone posting an XKCD.
This time someone posted an XKCD in response to another comic.
I don't know what to do.
-
I've decided I'll stop posting comics when someone posts an XKCD.
Otherwise I'm setting myself up for abuse. ;P

Jerak is either very tall or that is a very short 15 meters.

He's like "what, what's that funny button with the two outward pointing arrows on it?" Hint: it means 'door open' *cue ding-dong sound*
Jerak is either very tall or that is a very short 15 meters.
Or, the image isn't drawn to scale due to size constraints.

Bug: < video> tag should be allowed. In particular, the "loop" option.
-
Yeah, discourse made that kinda suck.
-
I watched this about ten times, wondering what the deal was, before I realized I could only see the bottom half of the video.
-
Go here and you get a much better view:
Still really freaking tall, but it's looped.

Same here.

Why is there a heatmap schlong superimposed on your image?
-
To remind you of the big heatmap fiasco of August 2014. NEVER FORGET.

Thanks, Gates.

..Why ms-1 instead of m/s? Is that a standard someplace?
-
I have seen it in some places.
It is kind of nicer than slashes when lots of things add up, like1 F = 1 s4·A2·m−2·kg−1
-
Why ms-1 instead of m/s?
We always used the former notation in my Physics classes. I suspect it's less ambiguous?
-
1 F = 1 s4·A2·m−2·kg−1
See, that's totally fine, but this case is so simple..
I suspect it's less ambiguous?
What's it ambiguous with? When talking about acceleration I guess you have m/s2 vs (m/s)2 but m/s is pretty straightforward
-
For the examples you gave, the following would offer more consistent, arguably clearer notation:
ms-1
ms-2You might also argue that m/s could be more easily confused as an operation on two symbols than ms-1.
Realistically, it's probably just a difference in cultural conventions. :)
I don't like these new smilies one bit. :(
-
You might also argue that m/s could be more easily confused as an operation on two symbols than ms-1.
but it is an operation on two symbols: the unit "meters per second" is created by the unit "meters" divided by the unit "seconds".
-
I mean that it might look like an operation within a formula rather than a unit. I have no real conviction in that argument though, it was just a thought.

You really, really see a dick in everything don't you?
I'm concerned about the reputation I'm getting.

I thought it where all the dick references that gave him away?
That's just kind of confirmation. At least it hasn't killed him yet.
Yes, yes, obviously BS...but it's a funny headline

Guess which people made it onto my dislike list recently.
I'll give you a clue.

We're probably safe if you're using Discourse to track this list.
