Monty Python, only. Never heard of the rest.
The Goons were basically a radio form of Monty Python about 15 years before Monty Python.
Also, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is British.

I think my favorite skit (maybe not the best, but my personal favorite) is the two dueling men who only have one gun and one sword. The punchline at the end is so great. The fact that they are dressed as 18th century nobles but in a modern park with 1990s joggers is so great. The ... everything about that skit is amazing.
Is that the one where the first guy picks the sword, then immediately regrets it? I think I may have seen a captioned screencap of that.
-
I've been rewatching it during dinner prep, it's a nice break from awful Season 6 X-Files. Ugh.
-
Right.
"Sir, you have the choice between the saber or the pistol."
"I pick the saber! The only weapon for a true gentleman!"
"Very well, then your opponent gets the pistol."
"Wait a minute..."
etc.
-
I think I stopped watching X-Files mid-way through season 5.

Everyone loves British humour right?
Your black swan: I hate the IT Crowd, because I don't find it remotely funny, and entirely cringe-worthy.
Fry and Laurie
The only funny thing (and quite possibly true at the same time) I've heard Fry say, was when he was playing Uxbridge English Dictionary (BBC Radio 4 sub-game from one of their 'comedy panel shows') and came up with the definition of Countryside (audio @1m04, text).
-
You will notice I deliberately did not mention the IT Crowd because while it has some humorous ideas, there's sufficiently unfunny parts that I'm hesitant to call it comedy.
I find it interesting that you call ISIHAC a 'comedy panel game' when they themselves call it 'the antidote to panel games', but countryside is probably the crowning moment of UED.

The only thing I know from The IT Crowd is the Piracy Warning.

You must have seen the Emergency Number meme on here at least twice?

I have not. It must have been posted to topics I chose not to look at.
Or the 1000 topic, which I haven't looked at for a while.Well, I've seen it once now.
-
Not that I think you missed much - it's just another of those (I find) unfunny sort of things they get up to.
-

I saw it a few times before someone gave enough context to understand it was from that show.

Fame can strike unexpectedly and when you least expect it. No one is safe.
-
The guy who lined up like 2 days early, and unboxed the phone in front of a media camera crew wasn't "expecting" fame? Bullshit. That guy is Grade-A 100% attention whore, I guarantee it.

Have you seen this shit?

Who knows what's in the minds of these people, if they have minds at all.
-
Their brains were tested, the test results came back negative.
-
Shit. At first I thought this was another example of the guys who run in dick patterns and tried to figure out what the shape was.
-
It looks like a snail.
-
Last week, the guy who set the trail for my running club did that. It was funny to see the reactions of the people that GPS'd it.
-
I'm not sure if this is funny, a nerdy joke or a bad idea, so I'm just dropping this on the first topic I bumped into:
The name pretty much says it all.

Paging @algorythmics, @algorythmics to the thread please.

that's a poor choice of lightbulb for insertion, also, inserting lightbulbs isn't particularly fetishy, thats just anal play, quite vanilla.
also pretty dangerous, 1 man 1 jar would demonstrate that, and a jar is much more structurally sound than a lightbulb, I wouldnt want those chemicals in my ass either.
-
Inserting things like that into your anus is actually more of a sign of repressed households. People get too horny, don't have anything suitable or know any safety rules, and end up sticking the first thing they find up their butts (sorry, I meant "accidentally falling anus-first into it while changing the curtains naked"), and naturally need a visit to the hospital.
Real "perverts" OTOH aren't afraid to buy soft, silicon tools with a flared end that won't get lost in your intestines and puncture your insides.

Eh, I liked it. Way funnier than most comedies, and it had a short enough run not to get stale.
Still,
I can't forgive them killing of Denholm. This guy was hilarious.
Filed under: or maybe you've just watched that ridiculously unfunny americanization
-
Oh yes, most comedies - even the British ones - aren't really fit to be called comedies, in my opinion.
IT Crowd is not entirely unlikeable but I find it less likeable than some of the others. Vicious, for example, I thought was hilarious (Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi as a gay couple bitching at each other)
-
that deserves two likes...
@SOCKBOT! LIKE THIS!
-
I hear and obey, oh master.
-
I watched this about ten times, wondering what the deal was, before I realized I could only see the bottom half of the video.
me. too. a fucking week ago.
yeah.

My favorite Tweet from that guy is:

I thought everyone likes @accalia ... some in creepy ways and some in normal ways.
-
I confess that was rigged. I havent got sockbot running on @mentions yet.
but i will, and when i do you can summon with or without likes.

Looks like Jeff's been helping Tesco with their search.

Neon Genesis Evangelion
It's not all THAT weird. It's obviously a metaphor for post-WWII Japan finding its place among world powers and ridding itself of the abusive relationship with China. Duh.

Two armed “polygamist women” dressed like “ninjas” were subdued by a sword-wielding man during a home invasion, according to police in suburban Utah.

This shit really kills chrome when oneboxed.

Yeah, FF shows it fine. And chrome does just fine when I go there instead of watching it in a onebox.
-
Chrome's not using much of anything. Most of my CPU and RAM is going to encoding a Dwarf Fortress video into a gigantic gif.
-
For me, the tab goes to 100% CPU (using chromes task manager). It doesn't bog down the rest of anything, but discourse becomes nearly unresponsive.
-
-
I guess it's a chrome on Linux thing, then. Or was. Seems fine now. Who knows.

hurrah for accidental email leakage.
