Probably because cellphones shoot them at HD resolution. Typical phone camera lenses are so bad though, that you couldn't tell the difference to an upscaled 800x600. Video sites include tags to limit the viewbox size, probably to keep the video looking nice and crisp when viewed.

The cloud is just someone else's computer.

Exactly! If I could choose "someone else" to be "me" I'd be all for it!

I doubt the "someone else" would be, though.

customer who was producing on-board software for a missile. In my analysis
of the code, I pointed out that they had a number of problems with storage
leaks. Imagine my surprise when the customers chief software engineer said
"Of course it leaks". He went on to point out that they had calculated the
amount of memory the application would leak in the total possible flight time
for the missile and then doubled that number. They added this much
additional memory to the hardware to "support" the leaks. Since the missile
will explode when it hits its target or at the end of its flight, the
ultimate in garbage collection is performed without programmer intervention.--

@Zecc In case of never terminating services (think of Initech fighting ), you can just schedule a daily restart, and still have a 99.9x% availability...

@Zecc Not implementing
free()

allowsmalloc()
to be very cheap.
-
@PleegWat Actually, no reason not to do realloc.
static char * heapTop; char * malloc(size_t n) { char * ptr = heapTop; heapTop += n; return ptr; } char * realloc(char * ptr, size_t n) { char * dst = heapTop; loop: *heapTop++ = *ptr++; if( --n ) goto loop; return dst; } void free(char * ptr __attribute__((unused))) { }

Many years ago, I worked on a product that scheduled a reboot at 3am. Yeah, they never made it to market...

Oh, I have those. I sometimes deleted the all the same just out of spite.
Angry looks at Teamviewer because the damn icon reminds me what a piece of crap it is.

Never heard that word before. Google informs us:
Piecing is the term used to descibe the act of assembling and stitching pieces of fabric together, by hand or machine, to make a quilt block.

Apparently, "piecing" is equivalent to "snacking" in this context.
But why would having plenty of pickles and pork be a worse sin?
-
@dkf Because previously the porky bacon was just a snack serving, not a a full serving?
