Sister just posted the following:
Whew! Just had to talk myself down real quick. I was reading a post about doing haircuts at home and I thought "Yeah, my hair is getting so long! I should give myself a good, short cut." And then I remembered that we are taking family pictures this week 😨 and I do not want to rock a self-haircut gone wrong. Nope nope nope.

A sufficiently short haircut is nearly impossible to get wrong, and helps destroy any evidence of previous haircuts didn't go as expected.
-
@Placeholder Remember that this is my sister who posted this. For women's hair, by the time you get short enough that it's impossible to get wrong, it's already wrong.

Funny you mention that. Just yesterday I've got my first haircut since moving to USA. It was a disaster. Instead of a classic haircut ("short on the side and back, longer on top", I said), the barber just cut off everything under the brow line almost to the skin. It look like she was going for some punk hairstyle, a 1/10th of a mohawk or something. I said "fuck it, just make it all a buzzcut". It looks awful but much better than what could be.
-
#4 on the top and #2 on the sides, works most of the time. Until they forget and do the entire head on a #2. Oh well, it grows back.
-
@Dragoon I have no idea what these numbers mean. In Poland, #6 is military spec baldhead.

It's the clip thingy that goes on the electric cutter thingy. The bigger numbers mean longer hair.

@Gąska My summer cut is a #0.5, which is 1/16th of an inch or 1.5mm. I don't want to know what the Polish version of a 0.5 is.
-
@Placeholder 0.5 millimeter.

Based on the limited selection I have from the trimmer I use for my beard (NOT for self-inflicted haircuts), US #n attachment is n/8 inches or about n*3 mm.

At the dog show this past weekend, there was a "woman" there with hair shorter than a newly shorn Marine.
it's already wrong.
That's not wrong.

@HardwareGeek I've had a mug of espresso once. Drank it over a course of an hour or so. I was literally shaking for the rest of the day and couldn't think straight.

Well the first one didn't have at least one lower case char.
ApesApesApesApes#42 would be even better since it has numbers and a "special character"

@Dragoon Way too much work for something that just... Why can't you people do the rational and just get a picture of your best cut?
Me, I show the barber my driving license and say "cut it like in the photo". And I get the exact same haircut every time.
-
@acrow But that only shows what you look from the front. You need to use a set of pictures where both front and back are visible, such as a police mugshot.
Of course, making sure "a picture of your best cut" is a police mugshot will be an interesting challenge, but I'm sure you can manage it.

@remi For a haircut fit for the thread topic, perhaps. Otherwise, I can't say I see your point.

Does swamp gas actually make any kind of light or sound, or is it just a myth?
First google result says it's real. Huh...

In 2013 they would have thought he said STD.

@El_Heffe and if he said "I have solid state drive" they'd think it's some lame physics pickup line.

@error I might resemble the person who created that display.

That's how you end up with this:
