⏱ You know you've been spending too much time on TDWTF when...
-
YKYBSTMTOWTDWTFW you go to another site where you only use your base avatar and suddenly feel cold and a need to cover your head.
You're welcome.
-
YKYBSTMTOWTDWTFW you get a text including the word "BITCHING" and want to correct it to "COMPLAINING"
-
YKYBSTMTOWTDWTFW when you find an example of inconsistent behavior in another piece of software (in this case, YouTube) and you call it Discoursistent...
Filed under: Very likely already posted by someone, but this just happened to me so I felt the need to post it here
-
YKYBSTMTOWTDWTFW you use Discourse emoji codes in IRC chat
-
instinctively? or because i was. because i recall that i used the emiji tags first...
-
YKYBSTMTOWTDWTFW when you use Discourse emoji codes with random file extensions inserted into them.

Does it matter if I copied you?
-
:copycat.ini:
-
not really. i was just curious
-
because i recall that i used the emiji tags first...
That just means you've been spending too much time here
-
well i did it on purpose because most of the people in the IRC channel were from here and i thought it was funny.
not that i'm disagreeing with you. :-D
-
And I did it because I felt like running with the joke ;)
-
well i did it on purpose because most of the people in the IRC channel were from here
What is this, more secret clubs?
-
more like an extension of the original sekret club
-
I don't think it's been a secret for a while.
-
To be fair, it is mentioned in @Yamikuronue's profile
-
Yes, quite.
-
Nothing secret about my IRC channel: http://crossingsrp.no-ip.org/
-
Someone misspelled "available" on that site ...
-
-
So I did :)
-
's OK. At Least it's not isitjusme...
-
Now the typo should be corrected, but the information on what games exist and are open is horribly outdated anyway lol
-
The following games are currently being run with publicly-availible logs:
Missed one
-
Lol my god. Fixed
-
When, IRL you start looking at people like this:
-
Hey, I have a lazy eye! I was born looking at people like this!
-
I should have cross-thread-song-replied to this.
-
Hey, I have a lazy eye! I was born looking at people like this!
Hah. I have a lazy everything. I was born lazy.
-
People don't realize the amount of effort this level of laziness entails!
-
Paging @antiquarian and the rest of the lazy troop ...
-
YKYBSTMTOTDWTFW you say "Brillant!" to a coworker who was telling you about something stupid someone did.
-
-
Some people were talking about laziness. I thought you'd have fun joining that conversation.
-
I'm not sure what you're trying to say here.....
-
I'm not sure what you're trying to say here.....
Admit it, you're just too lazy to try and understand.
-
try and understand
Grrrr! Try to understand. "Try and X" means "Try to X and succeed at doing X," while "try to X" means, well, "try to X." People nearly always[citation needed] actually mean the latter when they say the former.
I'm not picking on you; nNative speakers of English commonly make this mistake, too. I am picking on you, because if I don't, I'm merely being pedantic, instead of dickweedishly pedantic. Must be dickweedish. Sorry, nothing personal.

Git!
I'm actually replying to say thanks because I am mostly self-taught when it comes to... well, many things, including English. I learn when someone corrects me, so I'm completely fine with that.
-
-
"Try and X" means "Try to X and succeed at doing X,"
So it would be perfectly legitimate to say: "I am going to try and win the lottery", then?
-
If you're clairvoyant ...

While the distinction is important, I think that what @Onyx said in this case is still accurate: @antiquarian is too lazy to "try to understand and succeed at understanding" what is going on. In other words, he is accusing @antiquarian of being too lazy to try to understand what is going on, and also too lazy to succeed at understanding what is going on. It is a bit redundant, but it could be argued that such redundancy is being used to emphasize how lazy he thinks @antiquarian is.
tl;dr: I suspect that @Onyx thinks @antiquarian is extremely lazy.
This is me trying to outdo @HardwareGeek in the pedantry department. Failing that, let's at least try to wind him up a bit.

Yes.
And I agree with your buttessment, but didn't feel like arguing it. Sometimes I'm too lazy to be stubborn.

Not lazy as much as busy reading the SSDS thread.

For some definition of 'native speakers of American
English' (Some days I swear we speak a different language)
-
Some days I swear we speak a different language
"England and America are two countries divided by a common language."
— George Bernard Shaw11 Misattribution. According to www.phrases.org.uk, "[t]his supposed quotation doesn't appear anywhere in the copious writing of GBS." However, Oscar Wilde said, "We really have everything in common with America nowadays except, of course, language" in his first published short story2 "The Canterville Ghost" in 1887, long before the nonexistent quotation began being attributed to Shaw in the 1940s3.

YKYBSTMTOTDWTFW you try clicking on someone's YouTube avatar because you want to see the bigger version and you're surprised that the usercard didn't pop up...
