🗣 Things Our Customers Have Said About Discourse Thread

Continuing the discussion from 'Posts' count on topic boards:

Filed under: things our customers have said about Discourse
I think this will make an excellent topic.
I'll start:
"That's supposed to be a fucking heatmap? You're kidding me."

"Quoting consistency in discourse sucks"

So you're just going to reprint the entire forum, or...?
-
Think of it as headlines for the forums.

So you're just going to reprint the entire forum, or...?
Just the funny bits, would you like to cast your eye over them and tell me which ones pass muster? ;-)
-
Think of it as headlines for the forums.
A fake Discourse brochure site would be good, especially if it could rank highly in Google.
-
Extra points if it's in PDF because it appears a certain someone doesn't like PDF much...
Filed under: This post in no way reflects my own opinions on PDF. Conclusions about that are left as an exercise to the reader.

So you're just going to reprint the entire forum, or...?
It depends mostly on how much rise we can get in your blood pressure.

How in the holy mother of fuck is anyone supposed to develop for this shit? (Job) Security by obscurity!

I apporve of your subquoting yourself followed by full quoting yourself in a quote by yourself.

http://what.thedailywtf.com/t/the-official-likes-thread-topic-like-column-removal/1000/13385?u=onyxIf only I could actually quote it all too without having to manually adjust the quotes myself. Thanks dicsourse.
-
Well, provided the punchline, and the context for those interested.
I'd also not link my own stuff usually, but I'm still baffled by this.
-
It's Discourse related, it's not meant to be understood by mere mortals.
-
Oh, I see now what @darkmatter was saying. There actually is an arrow that leads to original post in my first quote.
Well fuck me sideways, something that works! Didn't expect that!
Filed under: You can quote me on that
-
Not only that, it even works as expected. It's still questionable on the discovery front, mind.

Not only that, it even works as expected.
No, because "as expected" is "doesn't work."
-
Yes it does, it took me to the quoted post, as expected.

Yes it does, it took me to the quoted post, as expected.
I don't expect that, or anything else in dicksores, to work.
-
Not only that, it even works as expected.
Unless you "right-click>open in new tab" or "middle-click" the arrow to go to the linked post, then it doesn't work as expected.
I should probably post it to it's own Bug topic, though.
-
Neither do I, which was of great surprise when it did.
-
The whole middle click/right click->new tab/Ctrl+Click/Shift+Click behavior of Discourse was completely an afterthought, if considered at all.
-
The same could be said of a lot of "features" in Discourse.
-
They seem to be completely unaware that the web is used that way.
-
-
They seem to be completely unaware
Yes.
But not working is working as expected.
True.
-
You edited your post after I liked it. Now it looks like I liked it because you quoted me, when in reality only your comment to @chubertdev was there when I liked it. Ninja editing is a barrier to, um, something...

Should the inability of Discourse to properly set the alt row colors after reloading new topics mean that it is "half-baked"?

Jeff Atwood.
Any quotation by him would make this topic hilarious btw. For instance:
So long and thanks for all the bugs!

I really want to make this Discourse brochure site now.
-
Well, Discourse isn't for squares.
It's for "innovative minds" like @wood!But the post I'm most proud of is this one:
@aliceif said:I thought that was normal behaviour!

You said that twice :(

Wait, wut?

Wait Ony are you too dumb to understand how this clever feature works? Come on, we're trying to build the future here!

My favorite part of the Preferences page is the Preferences link.
-
Which is also a bug I reported in the first week.
-
I wouldn't say it's a bug so much as it's just stupid.

Seems like a poor man's "reset" button to me.

If only there were a way to "Refresh" the page.

That's like a homeless person's reset button. We don't want to go there.

Discourse, bonding sworn enemies together in face of the greater danger since 10 years from now.
For some reason, using @Arantor avatar for @Maciejasjmj, but whatever.

While I generally tend not to quote PMs in public conversation, this one is just delightful:

This is the site where paying customers come for official support, our rules here are stricter and I do believe that putting stuff like that there (in the name field - @me) is working against your interests anyway.
@sam, why don't y'all just stuff Jeff into a cupboard under the stairs?
