The Backup Likes Thread - Because it's not the same, now with semi(?)-mandatory likes and questions?

Is this the questions thread now?
We don't need a new questions thread. The questions thread is

Wait, does this thing still work?
LLLLLIKES!

Can you really trust Discourse to find it? It might work now, but what of the future?

Two likes threads …
What will this do to Discourse?
-
Technically 3. Only 2 are active though...
-
What will this do to Discourse?
Either "502 Bad Gateway" or "You are not permitted to view the requested resource".
-
Or if it's really bad, it will shut down nginx and we'll get timeouts...
-
points likebots at the thread
-
They're not anymore; the @NetBot likes are coming in via a browser at the moment
-
…and now they're stopped

Filed under: Also, to the people who just received "Mediocre poster" badges: you're welcome
Enjoy them while they last.
<Assuming I wasn't already hanzo'd by PJH

True. Can you imagine the tempero-satio rift that would occur if all three were active?
-
Enjoy them while they last.
-sigh- i knew that was bound to happen

Not in this topic (yet). AH, there it is. :'(

Yet another reason to avoid the bots!

I did tell him I turned them off; hell, there's even a post upthread saying I did so…
-
Yet another reason to avoid the bots!
/t/1k was excluded before @sockbot became a thing.

Hey! Keep your logic out of this!
-
@accalia has summoned me, and so I appear.
-
Right, why did you show up, but @NetBot didn- oh, wait, I had him logged into a browser session, which processed the notification before the bot got it
-
I will battle you as many times as necessary!
-
You try anything, and I'll reboot you, you got that?
-
-sigh- i knew that was bound to happen
I was kind of surprised that @PJH didn't get to it before I did. Though actually, I think he might be on vacation right now, which would explain it.

That's only a part of it. The original thread got excluded before the bot plague. Other topics are excluded without having high bot participation.
-
i seem to recall it's a bank holiday over there so he's probably at the pub.

I said I didn't need any logic!

Muted. /t/1000 was fun while it lasted, and will be fun again if it is ever resurrected. However, the replacements are, IMHO, pointless. Neither are likely to get enough participation to cause significant breakage the way /t/1000 did, which was (theoretically) the point of /t/1000. If they do get that much participation, they will be too much time and effort to keep up with, and they will probably also just get shut down, too.

Sometimes you don't get what you need.
Sometimes you do get what you need but don't know you need.

On the BBS I've used there is tighter limit of like 12000 posts only, the chat board BMs have to delete 3000 posts when 10000 post is near. In the archive area the BM will mark how many "3000 posts" he had deleted as the record count of how many "now deleted" posts we've made, there are also archive screencaps we made when we managed to rush to 10000+ posts when we found the BM is not present. That was kind of fun.
I don't mind new chat thread be created, it doesn't matter much to me. Just hope the maybe the thread can merge when that is no longer a problem, but then again the posts may not link up well.

This.
-
This topic has gone 16 hours? Unacceptable!
-
Might have regressed
Or... might have always been broken because Discourse and mobile, and I heard that might be different,
-
Yeah, they put the dialog for what to do with selected posts at the top of the topic. Kind of useless when you have more than 20 posts or so in the topic.
-
Yeah. It's why I never used to attempt Jeffings on mobile.
-
-
Proposed fix: Only stick it at the top of the topic for iPhones
Proposed fix: On an iPhone, an unreadable popup that says "This operation is not supported on this device."
Proposed fix: Put it on the bottom of the topic as well
-
Proposed fix: On an iPhone, an unreadable popup that says "This operation is not supported on this device."
As a bonus, that fix works for mobile irregardless of platform.
-
Well, the other browsers have sane
position: fixed
handing, so I see no reason for them to miss out.
-
Miss out on the horror of Discomobile?
-
Proposed fix: On an iPhone, an unreadable popup that says "This operation is not supported on this device."
Proposed fix: Stick it over the whole page, with no option to dismiss. (This solves the whole “use Discourse from iPhones problem”.)

Now reviving this thread since t/1000 is in the corner again.
