Looks like my Developer Tools crash is substantially similar to this issue:
Which of course hasn't been resolved, though it looks like the issue was first reported around April 2016.
Developer Tools don't crash on Edge, but for some reason Edge won't load my iframes properly, so I can't re-create the scenario I need to re-create.
Starting to piss me off. In other news, resetting my laptop that has shitty wireless to see if that fixes the issue.

Sure didn't. Speed test on bad client: 7.05 Mbps/10.7 Mbps. Speed test on good client: 48.6 Mbps/11.1 Mbps. I find it fascinating that the upload speed is about the same but the download speed differs by so much. I think I've seen this before.
Edit: Disabled WMM support on the AP and that bumped the speed test to 14.4 Mbps/10.8 Mbps. That may be the best I can hope for on that client. At least I'm seeing 1ms ping times now instead of double digits and I'm not seeing any more packet loss. That's acceptable.

I'm not sure if I want the security upgrades...

Just spent 73m 6s on the phone with my father helping him get basic network connectivity on Linux; at the end of that call, my advice was that he should reinstall (same distribution, different desktop environment). Which did end up working, but...
My father has 25 years of experience administering servers and IT systems.
Yeah, the "year of the Linux Desktop" is right around the corner, y'all. Any time now. It's Microsoft and Apple that are preventing it, clearly. If only they didn't make their operating systems so usable. Those bastards.

If a book needs security upgrades, something must be horribly wrong.

The book itself is fine, it's the software that displays the book, if I'm reading correctly.

Status: Clicking on all the download dropdowns (and then clicking the "Download ePub" link) was getting rather tiring, so I made a little script to do it for me:
function doIt() {Array.from(document.getElementsByClassName("fa-download")).forEach(function(item2) { if(item2.parentElement.textContent == " Download .ePub") { item2.parentElement.click();} })} wait = 0; Array.from(document.getElementsByClassName("drop-down-expander")).forEach(function(item) { setTimeout(function(){item.click(); setTimeout(doIt(), 400);}, 5000 * wait++)})
Works in "List" mode (so no full cards). I decided to self rate-limit so I wouldn't pound the server too hard.

Mine is jailbroken so it probably can't receive the upgrade unless I format it. I don't need on-kindle access to the store or updated SSL client software to read books.

If a company cares at all about any of their devices more than 3 years after launch, they're automatically in the top 10% most reliable. I'm not even exaggerating.

@anonymous234 Remember when Microsoft released that security update for all the Windowses, even Vista, like a year back or so?

I wouldn't. I'm looking for one for my stylus. I refuse to order one battery off Amazon.

Status: Somewhat irked. Have to re-render Rumu episode 2 because somehow Vegas fucked the end card transition and kept flashing a frame from the end of the video throughout the end card like it was trying to cause epilepsy, and somehow I missed that until now. Once that's done and reuploaded I can do the bits for episode 3 since I already have the gameplay recorded...

I got mine in a 2-pack at the Batteries + bulbs store for $4.00 . Supposedly the shelf life is rated to 2022. I'll probably still remove the battery from the pen once I'm done .
If your can get it any cheaper on Amazon I'd say go for it.
Edit: Apparently "Windows default Lockscreen" is an App I've used recently.

You can get six sort-of-AAAA batteries at once from a 9V battery block (but only from the ones labelled 6LR61). Cut it open carefully.
They're a bit shorter than "proper" AAAA batteries but that's easily fixed by some aluminum foil ;)

Not sure why you'd want to do that. The Surface's pen usually lasts for more than a year on a single battery.

Mine is a Sony and it's apparently always transmitting. It didn't last since the last time I used it, which I'm pretty sure was early this year.

Stepped outside about an hour ago, contemplated "Man, it's feeling warm. All I need is a T-shirt and hoodie."
Then realized it's thirty degrees outside. I find it fascinating how our perspectives change by season like that. "Warm" is 70s during the summer, 30s-40s during the winter.

That's how I usually get my free book via Prime. (One free checkout each month - still considering paying the 10/mo for unlimited access. Getting really tired of getting a book at the library, go to checkout #2 in the series and there's 17 people ahead of me.)

@anonymous234 I have the Gen 2 Kindle and you can take it from my cold dead fingers. Paperwhite can go to hell.
That said, I better plug it in and make sure it's updated. I have a flight in a couple weeks and will need to use it.

I went to 3 stores looking for the ... 5730? I think? button cell my alarm clock needs for the battery backup. Eventually gave up and ordered one battery off Amazon.
EDIT: 2430. My memory for weird battery sizes is not good.
