The circuit breakers in the locked room beside the stage.
Well, you don't want just anyone to be able to shut off the circuits, right?
Did you ever get the problem with the lights fixed? (IIRC you said 4 gels or spots or something wouldn't come on.)
Not yet. As I said, they're 5 meters up and I'm not allowed to go up there without some kind of safeguard. But I found something new today.
You may remember this abomination?
They built on that:
This, by the way, is in a public area where about anyone can steal or unplug those cables whenever he likes.
Also, in the "award-for-herp-derp" category: To get a video stream to our projector (3D capable, of course!) on the ceiling, we need a media converter which does convert HDMI to RJ45 (which null-routes the audio, so if you want audio you have to remember to switch the audio devices in the sound manager).
Up till today, the RJ45 jack was located next to the connectors concerning DMX (lights) and audio. Today I found a patch cable connecting this jack and another one, which I found out to be leading to the stage (of course, neither jack was labelled with something like "To Stage" and "To Projector").
Great! Now we could put the converter on stage (enabling speakers to have their laptop nearby) or to our big equipment so we could control video from where we controlled everything else.
Only: There's no RJ45 jack on stage. Only HDMI. And the converter was nowhere to be found.
The moron locked the converter inside a box on stage and hard-wired everything.
That's when I found out that the Microsoft Miracast adapter has a range of at least 15 meters. So, I'm still able to connect my laptop from the back to the adapter on stage only to route the signal back to the projector above my head.
Oh, and the patch cable connecting the two jacks? It has a minor cable fracture - if you move it to certain angles, the signal will crap out and cause a blank screen. And the default angle of the cable is one of the problematic ones.
The guy who did all this said that he "made it easier now" and that we should just look "into the documentation he left us". Which he put into a locked box on stage. And obviously didn't give the keys to anyone.

No, it wants you to give it your credit card number, so it won't charge you once your trial has ended. Get with the program!

Other than sheer malice I can't think of a reason someone'd do that. Surely there can't be enough (for example) copper in there for a copper thief to bother.

When I was that age, nobody would've stolen a cable out of the wall like that, although in a school it also wouldn't have been out in the open like that.

When @boomzilla was that age, stealing smoke signals was the cool thing to do.

Trying to find a good podcast app in the Windows Store...
Wow. These apps are awful. Like, programming 101 level products. Even the top rated app (Grover) is an amateur hour compared to top 10 on both iOS and android.
Also, Microsoft had stealthily hid any mention of publish dates from the store interface. Hoping I won't notice that most apps are abandoned corpses from the initial optimistic push back in 2014.
Store is a disaster.
-
@fbmac I hardly think that minor vandalism and arson are the same class of immorality...did you at least make sure there was no one in the house before you did it?

@cartman82 looking at the Windows Store was your first mistake. How many versions of Podcast App Free and Podcast App Official (tm) Free Podcast iTunes Downloader Windows Pro did you have to sift through?
-

Considering that in order to publish to the store you basically have to rewrite your app unless it was already in .Net (which still doesn't guarantee compatibility)?
Is it any surprise few companies have ported their apps to Windows UWP?

I tried out like 7-8. Went back to Grover for now. It doesn't have ads and at least seems to work reliably. But the interface is such a disaster...
Quick, from this list, tell me which episodes have I played, which are downloaded, which will be streamed and which one is playing right now!
And try to ignore the vertical alignment disaster, comparable to a secretary aligning columns in Word using spaces.

In theory the army is more aligned with Western civ than Erdogan, so you if you should root for one side I would guess it should be them.
In practice I don't know how true that is.

The problem with most democratic countries is their democracy is old, it is inherited instead of awarded. It is easy to squander your parent's fortune. We have a short memory. Heil HiTrump

I'm a firm believer in that there are only five Star Wars movies.
But Rogue One looks interesting, even if it's a cash grab.

Sure, in terms of campaign contributions or spending on communications. Contributing to the Secretary of State's (and likely future President's) slush fund and thereafter getting meetings and appointments to positions is a bit different.
