a language anyone around here knows
Try lojban, this way you’ll only offend @ben_lubar.
-
fair enough, does @ben_lubar know any good swears in lojban? i only care about not offending work so lojban works nicely there!
-
I think there's a cutoff for only the top something or other posters
Oh, so it’s another kind of arbitrary restriction... I think I know what I need to do now
-
Yeah...basically, if you don't see your avatar in the list, you probably can't filter by your posts. Though there's a second line of avatars that's hidden for some reason. It's very strange.

there's a way to expand the avatar list to see those hidden avatars, but i never remember what it is... and when i trigger it it's usually just as i'm about to get distracted by someone IRL and need to bosskey

The only way I've done it is by janking the styles with dev tools.
-
And indeed, @VinDuv ain't there.

i know there's somewhere that i've been able to click to get that to expand on its own. of course with all the UI changes that have happened lately it may have been moved and then never replaced...

Your avatar is next to every post you make. You can filter with that one.

You haven't tried it with @VinDuv's.
-
Just add
?username_filters=vinduv
to the URL.
-
That's a strange bug, even by Discourse standards.
-
It seems that they only allow filtering by the top 24 posters. They probably figure that you're Doing It Wrong with many more posters and posts than that.

Sounds like me last night, plus 2.

Is crap without bugs better than crap with bugs?

Working on debugging a nearly impossible to reproduce JavaScript issue.

Working on debugging a nearly impossible to reproduce JavaScript issue.
Race condition. Easy to reproduce in IE, nearly impossible in Chrome.
-
Correction, Now i can watch the bug that i'm trying to reproduce go away when i attach the debugger to Production so now i have no environments presenting the issue.
this is the tenth time that's happened with this app. never exhibits the problem in Dev, Test or Staging, only in production, and EVERY TIME i hook a debugger up to PROD the issue goes away!
GAH!
in happier news it's 1545. i just have to survive 15 more minutes.
-
Production code corrupts data that your debugger/local code corrects!
[/blind guess]
-
dunno, maybe. either way it's a Hisenbug
-
Not as bad as finding a trivial buffer overrun bug in the path handling in your debugger's symbol table library

I had a dilemma the other night. I only had rum to drink, but nothing with it...
-
Oh rum is easy. It mixes up nicely with a ton of stuff ... Even with coke ... Go figure
-
went with an entire unopened bottle of Belvedere and a can of V8d Fusion (cranberry pomegranate)
It was only a 50mL Airport Security safe bottle
-
I had a gin with something ... I should find the can
-
What I'm saying is that I had zero mixers
-
ICE!
-
I am NOT drinking Captain Morgan straight
-
-
Either/or. It needs to be mixed.

Testing whether not hitting the quote button multiple times nests the quotes that you would expect to be in your post.
Also, it turns out that now that I can reproduce it reliably, I was able to reproduce it in production, proving that my project (that hasn't gone to production yet) was the root cause.

Chrome F12 Developer Tools
Console tab
Right-click in whitespace
Context menu has text cursorNot exactly enthusiastic about that.

So many needlessly required text fields with the new help desk system
Tickets getting updated with a bunch of fields entered as "."
-
I fucking hate the IT security quizzes at this company, since it usually ends with me opening a help desk ticket to explain how they're wrong.

I had a bug today, involving a text box. It was constrained by JS--if you put in a number that wasn't a multiple of 1000, it was supposed to put a message box in that would say "you must enter a multiple of 1000". It was also supposed to round the number you put up to the next acceptable number.
IE would display the message box but IIRC not round. Chrome did the opposite. So far the Chrome problem is fixed, but the user only uses IE, and she doesn't care about the part that doesn't work, so, win-win, I guess?

Came home after a rough week wanting to play around with a personal project. My laptop is dead. Fucking hell.
