Same fucking directors who think it is good idea to fuck with the script and deviate from the books of course, inventing shit on the fly. Stopped watching Game of Thrones when they changed the story, fucktards I wish Blakeyrat bites your balls!

@dse The whole 'active camera' thing is utter bullshit. They do it to 'enhance the drama', but it just looks like the cameraman's got Parkinson's.

"active camera" so it what this thing is called! Doing it for 1s is stupid enough, but butchering a perfect iMax picture for 10-20 seconds is plain criminal. It gives me headache.

Not sure what you're doing wrong there. I always got line numbers along with the stack trace. Yes. in UWP apps.

@Rhywden He could have turned off debug symbols or something

It's just the vanilla new UWP app. Latest Visual Studio + platform.
-
@cartman82 Looks like the debug symbols aren't loading for some reason. Also, two of those lines in the trace look like they're framework methods, so you won't get line numbers unless you have the framework debug symbols available.

Urg, the image uploading is really not working well. Reloading the page sometimes makes things work and sometimes doesn't. And sometimes the working just comes and goes. Which might be about as complete a bug report as I can figure out…
I guess I'll continue to use external image references for now.

Status: Stressed. My landlord threw a monkey-wrench into my relocation plans. I had planned to continue renting my house for (at least) the three months of my initial contract, then figure out what to do then based on whether and for how long the contract is extended. However, at the last minute my landlord said "no" to getting a house-sitter. I really don't feel good about leaving all my stuff in a vacant house for months. Now I have scramble to figure out how, when and where to move all my stuff I was planning to leave here.

What's up with all the broken images? I scroll through the topic, see an image, scroll a little further, and the image is suddenly replaced by a link to
data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
. It seems to be the same base64 data for all of them, too.

I'm observing this too. It seems to be triggered particularly by having the image go off-screen. Which happens when a large image above it (e.g., of a pwny; thanks
Obama@accalia) loads. Fortunately, it seems to be something only linked to embedded images. Pull your imagememes from a CDN or someone's ill-protected WordPress installation and you can be annoying without things breaking.

More likely, they removed this feature from the already gimped platform.
Yay we are regressing!
-
@sloosecannon And it looks like @julianlam is on it.
-
@cartman82 I'm not sure what you mean by "gimped".
You do realize that a sandboxed environment will not have full access to everything on a computer? And, that, as a result, not every kind of C# addon out there will work?
If anything this reveals the retardedness of some APIs - I stumbled across this when I tried to use the API for accessing some USB measuring tools and discovered that it would not work.
Because the moron did not only include the USB libraries (which is perfectly fine) but also included the WPF graphics library because he thought it a grand idea to mix UI and hardware API.

We wouldn't want to overload Microsoft Watch or what-the-fuck-ever with such strident requirements, which are totally equivalent to including WPF in a USB driver.

The first show I remember that really went all-in on this (where it didn't make sense) was the Battlestar Galactica reboot, where all the space FX scenes had this look. Leaving the viewer thinking, "wait a minute, is there a guy like in a space suit tied to the side of the ship actually filming this with a handheld camera?"
IIRC there was a sci-fi movie that did this before BSG, but I can't remember which is was. So it might have been first, I'm not sure when BSG started production.
I see it the same was as video games that add artificially-rendered lens flares when human eyeballs don't see lens flares, only camera lenses do. It's a technique "designed" to make the scene look more realistic, but only if you never ever have any neuron activity whatsoever while watching it. Because the instant you think about it, you'll go, "wait a minute-- how come my elven warrior sees lens flares in the game, but I don't in real life? I thought elfs had good vision" and then it all crumbles down like a house of cards.

Status: Finally got Elite: Dangerous working again. Apparently, that Windows Update that uninstalled Notepad++, my joystick drivers, SQLiteBrowser, and more, also uninstalled all the Visual C++ runtimes from my system. I re-installed all them and finally the game works again.
Also, one of my personal projects got stalled because Windows 10 removed the ability to easily host an ad-hoc WiFi network. Why would you do that? (And before anyone starts foaming about editions, I always use the Professional edition at home.) Now I need a cheap WAP or router.

NO_REPRO. For me, when the image disappears, everything else shifts to account for the space no longer occupied by the image. Chrome 49.0.2623.87 m, Win 7.
BTW, I posted this because just now, an image scrolled off-screen and was replaced, causing me to suddenly be rereading your post instead of the one I was reading.

Man, Rotten Tomatoes is slamming the newest one, but the scores by people who aren't reviewers who are watching the movie is higher.
The review says this movie's better than the last one, but apparently it annoyed more reviewers, so it's got a lower metascore. Go figure.

Now I have scramble to figure out how, when and where to move all my stuff I was planning to leave here.
Get a $19.95/day uhaul truck, and haul it all to the nearest storage place. If you're a churchgoer, you'll be able to find someone who can help you load and unload. A 10x10 room will hold a LOT of stuff and isn't horribly expensive--it's definitely going to be cheaper than continuing to rent a house, even in air-conditioned storage.

@FrostCat said in The Official Status Thread:

You have no idea how much stuff I have. I had, IIRC, a 10x20 unit before I moved everything up here 3 years ago, and I have acquired more stuff (e.g., washer and dryer) since then. It took the largest truck I could rent without a CDL to haul it. That's a lot of trips back and forth in $19.95 truck.
@FrostCat said in The Official Status Thread:

Looks to be about half what a similar unit in the Bay Area was running.
@FrostCat said in The Official Status Thread:

Although the per diem associated with maintaining my permanent residence here more than makes up the difference in cost.
The real problem, though, is time. I wasn't expecting to move more than the basic essentials, so I haven't packed anything. And so far, I'm not managing to accomplish anything because I'm overwhelmed by the enormity of the task and fact that I only have 4 days to do it; I'm planning to be on the road to the Bay Area on Friday (or Saturday at the very, very latest — I have to be at work Monday morning).
I have a plan that I think is workable. I owe rent for the entire month of April, anyway. My landlord said no to the house-sitter, but my lease allows me to have a guest for up to 3 weeks. So if I vacate by the end of April, I can have somebody be a guest for most of the month, and he's more than happy to help pack anything I don't manage to get packed this week in exchange for the privilege of being my guest. The house is occupied for most of the month it would otherwise be vacant, I get help packing, he gets a place to stay, and I'm not violating the letter of my lease. At the end of April, I can fly up here and spend a day either moving everything to storage here or loading a truck to drive it down to CA.
