I guess it wasn't obvious enough for you pendants that they didn't realize that their catapult wasn't at all what carriers use.
How do you know that's true? Because I don't believe it.
-
When they say that the application is that we could launch aircraft better?
Oh man. Now we're getting somewhere.
Another 57 or 58 questions and we might have some vague clue as to what the holy fuck you were trying to communicate to us.
This is a much more efficient form of communication than you just SAYING WHAT THE HELL YOU MEANT IN THE FIRST PLACE, I'm so glad you chose this method.

npm
A build system.
Gulp
ALSO A BUILD SYSTEM.
Why do front-end web devs DO THIS? Why do you need more than one build system? It boggles my mind.
-
hell if i know. but you can't get gulp without npm.
and we already have the scripts to process the css and javascript in gulp, so gulp it is.what really bugs me it's that in the frontend world, it's a PITA to simply do something like requiring components.
-
Why PHP? Go with Node and reuse your npm/gulp process
Why do you need more than one build system?
I think you've got this wrong. Gulp is the only build system he's using. Now, Bower and NPM is stupid.

One person too many IMO.
Just think, if something were to happen to that person before he shared his code.Filed under: Some bus driver could do the world a great favor.

s/efficient/entertaining/ — maybe.

Why PHP? Go with Node and reuse your npm/gulp process
because that's the language me and my team know better, and because we have a few components that we can reuse/adapt with little to no effort.
i'd like to try Node, but with a side project.
I think you've got this wrong. Gulp is the only build system he's using. Now, Bower and NPM is stupid.
uhm, we have gulp to do the build, and bower to manage dependencies. is that wrong? AFAIK you can't manage dependencies with gulp (if i'm wrong please tell me)
and npm because you can't get gulp without npm.
-
You don't need bower when you have npm doing the same thing.
-
you are talking abput using npm + browserify?
my main problem is: npm handles the javascript part well, but it doesn't handle css and images i might need.
bower picks the css too.
i know i can tell gulp to grab the css by hand, but it kinde defeats the purpose of having a dependency manager.IDK, i just want something like composer. i have a list of dependencies, i tell it to grab them for me, and it gives me a file with all of them ready to use.

Actually, it's a package manager; they even tell you this right on their home page:

It's actually "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine". I don't know more than that though.
Did you know that it's actually a Christian song? Cf. Matthew 5:15 and Luke 11:33.
Any of this is news to you people? I'm a fucking Godless commie Jewish-raised heathen, and even I know it's a Christian hymn-- and what the lyrics are.

Right; so just use NPM. You already have it. Use it. Don't add another one. That's dumb. Dumb.

You do realise NPM's build system is little more than a wrapper around the command line? Which is fine for simple builds, but for more complex builds, it's no substitute for a proper build system.
Or, to put it another way, using NPM as your build system is like using NuGet to build .NET projects instead of MSBuild; sure, it can do it, but it's not really designed to.

Status: Had the nicest coding session interview! Instead of some stupid linked-list/sorting question it was a real code! No need to remember indices in a search (seriously under stress who will remember indices for quicksort unless someone who has memorized the crap?). As bonus the company has strong open source involvement which is appealing to me (and Blakey) a lot :--)

code is countable, unlike fish.
This was the 3rd interview (coding in in kobra.io similar to whiteboard sessions), in addition to the original code I had to submit before the first interview.
-
So they made you write one opcode? Which one was it?

Hey @blakeyrat, remember how you said you didn't like Valve games because the cutscenes were unskippable?
Someone fixed that without editing anything.

Status: fucked up my dinner timing, finished brussels spouts before steak was even half done. :(
So I've been snacking on them because hungry.
-
A steak should only take a few minutes to cook.
-
It did but I was hungry enough that I hate half my brussel bros in that amount of time. Then typed that status. Then grabbed the steak and put it on my place and ate that and the rest of the brussel bros, then opened a bottle of wine, now eating a Milky Way.
The End.

That was such a heartwarming tale.

brussels spouts
Had to translate this to understand what it is.
Blakey's being a good boy and will get to watch his cartoons tonight.

Why do you need more than one build system? It boggles my mind.
Because you need a build system you don't want to build a build system that's actually useful. Easy peasy.
-
They can actually be very delicious if prepared properly. I'm not sure how, precisely, but I've had brussel sprouts twice that i can recall when they were nearly my favorite part of the meal.

That's because most people don't know how to cook them correctly. Boiling them until the whole house smells of sulfur is incorrect. A better way is to coat them in olive oil, salt and pepper and roast in the oven. There's a Vietnamese place near me that stir-fries them with chorizo. Very tasty.
