@accalia has summoned me, and so I appear. <t1673d1412295393236>

Well it's either that or I eat the fuck out of some Taco Bell again, but then I have to deal with some wag coming in here and going, "hahaha! You ate food that tastes like shit! I am a humorous comedian to ignore the obvious meaning of your slang and point out that food with feces in it is of low quality and I should avoid that restaurant!"

- What, you don't have a McDonald's, or Chipotle or something? Just Taco Bell?
- You're a bellend for not giving some wag here the opportunity to say that.

Lists, motherfucker, can you do them? Which is the "days since last discourse fail" bot?
-
-
Last day without Discourse Bugs: null <t1673p2608>
-
I have all kinds of options, I just use Taco Bell as a shorthand for "local fast food drive-through".
-
I thought it might be @discoursebot but i wasn't sure.
Seriously, look at the raw of my post. The FIRST line is indented one space; the second is not, so Discurse inverted that, and it also renumbered the list (my second item is numbered 2 in the raw.)
-

You have a space before "1." but not before "2." Because item 2 is indented less than item 1, discourse indented it more and made it a sub-list. Yeah, that makes sense — to somebody, maybe, but not to me.
Edit: Hanzoed!

This is your own fault for using Firefox.
OK, I will use something else...
Hm. That turned out better than I though it would.

Paging @Steve_The_Cynic, the GAU-8 is back in action!!

Posting to Discourse from a phone is even worse.Edit: My PC's UPS just died. It lasted 40 minutes.

I have no longer live data and had to leave this and then I played Civ3 a few different users come up with both a potato to GitHub.

a potato to GitHub.
If GitHub can handle potatoes, surely binary files are no problem?

You'd think so, but git is so fucking broken it can't handle different potato<e> endings.

Nope, still off.

And it probably use a tenth of the memory!

I dug the Wizardry vibe of Grimrock, but I didn't like the lack of character choices and focus on dumb teleporter puzzles. (To be clear: Wizardry had dumb puzzles, but not packed so close together.)
I've been trying another Wizardry-inspired game, Elminage Gothic. It's not nearly as good. It's also Japanese, which is a lot of the problem I think.
Still waiting for someone to even attempt to capture the awesomeness of Wizardry 8.
-
Yeah, poor character system was my biggest pet peeve of Grimrock 1. Didn't mind the puzzles too much. It also ruined the mod experience. I mean, what's the point of playing the game over and over again, when there are only 2-3 realistic parties to chose from. Everything else, though, fantastic.

First person dungeon crawler mixed with roguelike. Currently my favorite "podcast" game (something to play while listening to something else). It lacks stuff like story and puzzles, but if you like grinding up characters and min-maxing prestige classes, that will scratch the itch. Also worth checking out: Frayed Knights. It's amateur hour in terms of visual presentation, but the guy behind it knows what he's doing RPG-wise and is a huge fan of Wizardry 8. That's about as close as you can get to that classic.

Current status: mentally setting up a meeting with my manager next week (she's out sick today, and doesn't work Mondays) about how our .NET code is worse than what I produced in college, and that either I get to work on fixing it, or I'll go find some other .NET code to work on.

I will when/if it hits Steam.

No shit.
I looked at that when it hit Steam, but I figured with the dumb cartoony portraits I'd end up hating it.
BTW, since we're on the subject, I'd just like to brag that I have indeed won Wizardry 8 and I have the screenshots to prove it (yes the party was very furry, get over it):
Suck it, everybody who isn't me.

I'll pass, but @algorythmics might possibly be interested.

Let's put a method reference to initialize Session variables in 50 different places instead of a place like.........Session_Start.
Man, I need a ClueBat™.

wtf? do you keep the winning screenshot of every game you complete?

want to borrow one of mine?
edit:
nope, you want hers:

My manager is out sick today. Her manager is out on a business trip. I think I might go to his boss, the CTO, about how badly our code sucks.

Ones that take like 160 hours and are virtually impossible to complete without any walkthroughs? Yes.
I lost my screenshot of Mission: Thunderbolt, though. Still bitter about that.

Oh this guy's a winner. He's been on Steam since the beginning of August and hasn't updated his website.

???
There's a link in the bottom...I guess he was worrying too much about the linked list implementations and too little about frontend eye track studies :-)

Wow. Either I'm blind, or crazy. I swear to CHRIST that wasn't there when I looked like 15 minutes ago.
Maybe Steam's servers were down per usual and it's served in an iframe? That's my excuse, let's go with that.
Anyway, I wishlisted those two games.
