If it keeps your politicians from getting to work, that's a good thing.
Does Belgium even have a working government yet? Or is it still in a three-way orgy of gridlock?
-
That works well with datetime datatypes...
Don't you use varchar(max) for your dates?
That way you can have dates like "The first sunny Saturday after the May Day bank holiday"
-
That's what pivot tables are for.

No not still. Again. They wasted half of the last term forming a coalition and this spring the scheduled elections where held. And things even seem to go faster then last time. Not that there is view on a fast outcome but at least there seems to be some political will to go somewhere.

When I went through Brussels ( 1st mistake: through, but I wanted to see Brussels, and I did—every square cm of the main thoroughfare…), I swore I could'a gotten out of the car at every cafe and ate a meal and got back in the car w/o anyone even honking…
Never. Ever. Go. Through. Brussels. Going around it is already terrible but at least there generally progress can be observed.
Didn't you noticed that the car in front most likely just did that? And that you where waiting for him to come back so everybody could move again.

We might be better of without a prime minister or a cabinet.

Boss, a week ago: "You're looking at all those little terminal screens on a single 22'' monitor. And you won't use multiple monitors? That's it, I'm buying you a larger monitor!"
Me: "Cool! Thx boss!"Just now, the new monitor arrived. Upside: 27 fucking inches. Downside: no HDMI. Using it with VGA cable. Max resolution: 1920x1080. Ummm... thanks boss?

I was thinking more of the Euro politicians, but it's equally applicable to the domestic kind, too.

Recruiters aren't too savvy. My current position is 30 mins north of the city that I live near, I live 10 mins north of the city. They always send me opportunities way north, up by my current position, instead of looking at my address, and finding positions around there.

Round here, that would be just taken as a strange way to write a date in mid-September.

Had going-away lunch for coworker. Trying to digest a big lunch is not conducive to intellectual (or physical) activity.

Recruiters aren't too savvy.
Full stop. The rest of your post is merely a tiny example of this.

I understand the C-pound thing, but this isn't dealing with something outside of your profession. This is the core of what you do...

No, but there were bananas available to have with the ice cream. And peels, of course.

I suppose, but he must be pretty bored to be reading all those old topics from May.

At first I just assumed that they were new and reading back significantly, but they've existed since early August.

Status: bored enough to be catching up on the entire General section while some long process runs. Also: I finally hit the Likes cap.
Filed under: without touching the Likes thread, because I don't need to.
P.S. I do not read random General threads on the other forums I am on. Consider yourselves as special snowflakes.

I don't need your approval to feel like a special snowflake. I have the badge to prove it.

Sorry for that. :( Have some cupcakes as a recompense for my earlier identity alzheimer confusion…

I did actually implement the thing that was awesome and stressful. Unfortunately now I have learned tomorrow we will be descended upon by family members.

Actually my customers could use that. Most of them are, shall we say, of a certain age, and getting to where it's difficult to read the tiny text in the tiny main window of our application, so the supersized pixels you're using would be fine for them.
Aside: Progress is one of many, many, many things that don't work well with "large fonts" in Windows. Also, the boss insisted it wasn't possible to do anything to make the main window larger, so refused to do anything about it for the entire 6 years I was there. Then he retired, and I discovered that Progress will cheerfully let you walk the window tree and multiply the x, y, width and height of each child window. Next boss: KEWL. Let's tell all our customers we're going to fix that.
I could probably get half a dozen middle-aged HR types to kiss me.

I'd give you half a like for the first part and half a  for the second, if I could.

Oh, this is special. We have my step-sister descending with her two kids.
I won't go into how messed up this is beyond, she's a psychiatrist and has some interesting ideas about parenting that anyone with common sense who's ever looked after a kid would be able to completely dismantle - but because it's in a textbook, it must be true.
I will likely be spending the day in my bedroom writing code.

I will likely be spending the day in my garage finally finishing (I hope) my kids' Christmas presents from last Christmas.
