Does Discourse have a time machine plugin I'm not aware of? I think it's been at least 2 - 3 years since my last migraine.
#2000 ^^
-
yeah, I'll get a true migraine about once a year, not fun.
but what's really not fun is I appear to have developed a sensitivity to air pressure changes.
I've been tracking my headaches,. their intensity and how resistant to what medication they are and a clear pattern has emerged: Pressure.
high pressure to low (storm coming in) gives the worst headaches by far, and the faster the barometer drops the worse they are. low pressure to high also maps well, but they do not tend to be as bad.

Actually working. Ugh, it's more boring than I remembered it.
Well I'm not working right now but I was 5 minutes ago, I promise.
-
status: Headache getting better, functionality reteurning, spellling still terrible
-
Current status: planning massive amounts of UI updates to make the one form that people have to use on my site far less painful. Because it's very easy to use, but people still complain.
-
Status: Got sucked into a firearm debate on another forum, against someone who seems to think the AR-15 is used to destroy engine blocks in vehicles while common civilian and home defense weapons are far too weak for that. I normally don't get involved, but debating this guy is kind of like fishing in a barrel with dynamite and it hasn't bored me yet.
Filed Under: Oops did I just start an AR-15 flamewar here?
-
Bleh, my friends go to the range every Thursday, I usually get to shoot the AR. Been way too busy lately, and I already have plans for tomorrow :sad_panda:
-
I really want to pick up a Colt 6920 now that they're back down below $1000. My hunting rifles are just too expensive to shoot for fun at $1.50 a pop.

Status: out of the shower. Cat sniffed my towel for 5 minutes and went crazy.
Am.. am I made of catnip?

still not clicking that link.
My provider says "this domain has no dns entry attached to it" by way of presenting me a search mask for its search, assuming I did type it wrong. That behaviour is, of course, TRWTF.
-
Ah - perhaps not then. It's probably a PO-Box that's been listed then...
If you google for the email address gestint.disit@laposte.fr (Tech Email) you find other sites registered to it that definitely seem to be operated by "La Poste".Can you register a domain with somebody else's data if you want to stay anonymous?

Whenever there's an earthquake you always see an article by a lazy journalist about how some lady know the earthquake was coming because her cat spazzed-out before it.
And I always thought, even when I was a kid, "our family's cat spazzes out like 3 times a day for literally NO REASON. And 99.9% of those times, there's no earthquake."
Later, I learned about "confirmation bias."
-
Status: I don't have a cat.
Observation: No spazzing-out observed on mentioned cat.
Conclusion: No earthquake imminent.

After the Discodevs used "awesome" for Discourse, the word has a dirty connotation. Can't you just write breathtaking software?

That could also be used to describe Discourse...

I'll settle for it being 'good software', mkay? Something Discourse cannot claim.

Yes, but the Discodevs haven't used it so far."DiscourseScuba tm - breathtaking scuba diving communication gear!"

Status: Wondering why the developers of an application that one of our clients uses created a column titled "UPDATE_DATE" and the only time it ever has a value is when the parent record it links to is inserted into the database, and only after a certain point (as half of the records in this table have NULL for the update date).

I've never liked

"breathtaking" applies to burning feces as well as impressive things.
-
Using old library. Update to less old version, because we need features that were implemented in it. Introduces dependencies to 3 other libraries we didn't need before, one of which has a syntax error and won't even compile, and has a name conflict with a key file in our project.
-
Researching multiple issues with our systems that aren't related to the actual software that we write, so preparing documentation on why it's not my problem before reassigning.
-
Four hour interview for getting a new position, fucking tired. Discourse lagging my phone keyboard. Might just go to bed and save bugs for tomorrow. Tbd, hour or so rest at least is required.

Softball game with company team. Most people not paying attention to game and talking about their interviews.

Status: Back from another round of terrorising job candidates. Nothing TFI worthy, though.

Just had meeting with Sweedish customers. They wants us to make them an app interfacing with something called jeeves. Had a look at the database. Still haven't recovered. This will be an excellent WTF post once I get around to it.

Actually, it's a great stress reliever.

For you, perhaps. The receiver might have a different opinion about it.

No, I mean both ways, actually.

"Did you test it?"
"It checks in, doesn't it?"
-
Turns out it's not that simple, for better and worse. It does actually compile, for them. But the code (a test library) depends on a class that isn't exported with the library, because the stuff in it conflicts with the same class that is defined in the tests that use the library. Which is good, because that class needs to be different depending on whether the tests are being run at the unit or integration levels. But that means all the tests need to know about the internals of all the libraries and define the right stuff. The proper resolution for this is the subject of ongoing discussion (which is currently dormant because the primary driver is on vacation this week).

Status: Arranging a Craigslist meetup to possibly (okay, who am I kidding, the right word is probably) buy a used Mesa Boogie Mark III guitar amp (a.k.a. late 80's Metallica). Between that and my late-70's Marshall, I can finally ascend to my rightful status as a bedroom heavy metal god!

Wondering what I'm paying for.

Holy hell.

Status: Finally fixing my mechanical keyboard. Ever since I bought it, the numpad 9 and + keys activated each other but I was too lazy to RMA. Since "I Void Warranties" is my life story, I opened her up and found they were mistakenly soldered together! Somehow I expected better quality from a $60 keyboard but at least it's an easy DIY fix.

I once spent more time driving through Belgium, than driving from Nice to the Franco-Belgium border. Your traffic sucks ( well it did 20 yrs ago… ).

I've never liked NULL modified dates.

If it keeps your politicians from getting to work, that's a good thing.

When I went through Brussels ( 1st mistake: through, but I wanted to see Brussels, and I did—every square cm of the main thoroughfare…), I swore I could'a gotten out of the car at every cafe and ate a meal and got back in the car w/o anyone even honking…
