Also, look at this:
true && true | false && false
^ false
true && true || false && false
^ true
- at least in C#, where bitwise has higher precedence than logical
-
well it would do that, but if it's a straight boolean rather than a boolean valued expression would evaluation have any side effects?
-
The second term in the expression involves a property access, but it's an access with no side-effects, so it's a point
-
His logic is that the VPN is too much work to "setup" when it's already setup and actually the easier of the two to use.
So? You were acting like it's this huge problem. If he prefers Citrix, why shouldn't he use it?
Also (I've just been reminded of this so INB4 telepathy) there have been at least two instances of him not being able to do any work other than reply to emails on his phone because Citrix has been unavailable and he's refused to use the VPN.
Well fix your shitty servers, then.

had it happen to me in IE last week. i've been getting that one off and on for months now. havent reported it because i can't seem to trigger it on demand to get a proper bug report with repro steps.

โฆare you OK? And I mean that sincerely; tbh, I'd have preferred you to have just made a post calling me an idiotโฆ

Status: just realized that an email i sent this morning basically asking "Why is external consultant X charging us 15 hours to deploy their product into two environments? we're doing the configuration so shouldn't it just be installing the productโฝ" accidentally CC'd the client contact at External Consultant X.

Being so very very British
How British, exactly?
I'm 'almost too British and [the test writer doesnโt] mean that as a compliment.' I think that's at least one level up from what I got last time, which IIRC was 'you're so British it hurts'.
-
Apparently I'm 'very British'. But then I can't answer half those questions honestly; they don't supply the right choices
-
Yeah, sometimes I had to just take the nearest thing.
Also how many of these debilitating problems affect you?
-
Quite a few of those do apply to meโฆ
-
Ha, that's very good. Just out of curiosity, can any non Brits relate to any of those?
-
-
well that works, no?
That depends. If they are truly Boolean types, the bitwise representations of
true
andfalse
are probably the same for all Boolean variables, so it should probably work, but it relies on something that may not be defined by the language. If it's a language in which boolean operations just test truthyness of arbitrary data, bitwise and of two truthy values may give a falsey result.
-
f it's a language in which boolean operations just test truthyness of arbitrary data, bitwise and of two truthy values may give a falsey result.
it would still giva a boolean result though. it might not be the expected one, but it would work 9as far as the compiler is concerned)
:P

Unusually spellary, even for you.

And therein lies the problem...

Those who burn popcorn in a shared space should be executed.

Interesting.

It is certainly more expressive than the alternative.

Status: Annoyed, now having to deal with returning an item on eBay because it arrived damaged. I wouldn't normally fault the seller for mishandling by the postal service except the item was listed as shipping via USPS Flat Rate, but I got a plain brown box using ripped up magazine pages as padding.
I'm now kicking myself for actually buying it via the "second chance" offer I got. I'm kinda glad I didn't win the other item I was bidding on from that seller though.

Anymore, I just refuse service of the package has been thrashed. Or, I will open it in the presence of the employee, making a note of damage on the delivery confirmation.
About half of the servers I have bought off of eBay have arrived with the ears crunched in. Very few people package things properly anymore.

It was a home delivery, so I only got to it well after it was actually delivered.

Indeed. It's 2330Z (or it was a few minutes ago), so I assume it was a bot binging.
