Status: amazed at how Discourse treats links as both links and non-links, so the default Modern IE's behavior of opening all links in a new tab opens the link twice - first the "right" way in a new tab, and then in the WTDWTF tab due to the click tracking BS.
And since it's Modern IE, it's probably not even worth filing a bug.

That stuff is harder than it looks. Those text are really culturally biased.

Oh, I've never heard that joke beforeโฆ
-
Wait... They... they couldn't even have a single person read "Choose language" prompt so it doesn't sound awful when I play them in succession?
Those cracked me up every time ... certainly since testing the damn IVR means dialing it and hearing the messages again and again.
We had (or rather: they have) one notorious client in the French part of Belgium where all Flemish/English messages were done by the unlucky tech guy who made the change. Calling that system was a game of guessing the colleague. Conclusion: abbeys are strange customers and even if they are famous for their beer don't hope on getting one when you visit.

Oh, I've never heard that joke before
You didn't? Strange ... because around here a joke is only good if it is repeated a few 100 times first

STATUS: So I was bored during the break and decided to see what's up on Stack Overflow. On my profile, I notice a little widget saying I might get a shiny badge if I help out with their moderation queue.
"Why not?"
So I'm flagging questions left and right, feeling that sweet sweet taste of unaccountable power over others, when I stumble upon an obvious spam. I flag it as such, and then...
HA! That's right, bitch. No one gets one over cartman!
Now HAND OVER THAT REP PELLET!

There! Now lean back and wait for the chicks to start calling....

You weren't the one who suggested t/1000 though; that was me
You sure?

Feature request: add ฮnew_posts_in_t1000 to show a possible correlation between Dicsource response time and activity in this topic.
can do, but then so can you. ;-) the posts are there, it's just a matter of parsing all those JSON chunks (there's code in both SockBot and SockSite that does that), extracting the post times, and transforming into whatever graph you want. :-P
-
http://what.thedailywtf.com/t/the-thread-of/1000/39051
Yes, but that's a different feature than the one we added, which was simply adding t/1000 to the list of polled pages
-
well yes. there's that too.
-
can do, but then so can you. ;-)
I never said I couldn't :)
Whether I can be bothered to expend the effort... That's a completely different question
-
I'd wait until @sam's sorted out the performance issues first though; last time we had polling of t/1000, we essentially DoS'd the site

Status: Not only is it sunny in Manchester, there's a 0% chance of rain for the next 3 days too. I R confused.

It's lovely here oop north.
Also, just been signed out.

It's nice and sunny here. Relatively warm. But it's cold in here, and opening the window is only making it colder

Wind chill would be my guess ;)

Out of interest, could someone with access to historical cooties data compare it with the following?
(That's the Sidekiq homepage - and that's the only access to the data I have.)
-
https://servercooties.com/raw?start=2015-04-01
will give you a CSV output of historical data starting on april 1. ;-)or it will work after i fix this bug....

Status: forgot to grab my laptop charger. Meaning no computer for me. So I'm working with a tablet and an external keyboard. Works well enough for most stuff.
The main problem: you can't charge it and use the keyboard at the same time :(

Status: wondering why Alien Swarm has full support for object motion blur but no way to turn it on in the settings.
Status: wondering how Alien Swarm, which was branched off of the Source engine after L4D2, has trouble with platforms that move vertically even though the first mission of L4D2 has an elevator.
Status: wondering why Alien Swarm has complete support for optional objectives but no way to add them in the map editor.
Status: wondering why Alien Swarm's maps are displayed with +Y at the top of the screen but the objectives are parsed in descending Y coordinate order.
Status: wondering whether co-op bots in Source Engine games got dumber since last time I played with them or the custom campaign I was playing was set up really badly.

You don't even have to go anywhere near as late at L4D2.

HL1 had an elevator that moved exactly the same way the one in Alien Swarm does, but it actually moved down instead of having the walls around it move up.

UPS guy us going to be pissed at me. Two PC cases, two bigass monitors, the innards for both those computers, some miscellaneous household goods, a bunch of engine parts and shop supplies and 9 truck tires. All in 1 day.

Called to check out a computer.
Description of problem: "Runs slow".
Computer boots as fast as I can expect it to from a mechanical disk.
Runs well.
Weird sounds coming from case. Suspicion arises.
Opened case. CPU fan not spinning. Power wires jammed into the fan by some genius.
Removed wires. Fan now spins.
Running Prime95 just in case now.
Easiest repair ever?

Status: My stupid head is being annoying.

That reminds me... I should really install that.
-
Status: the installer finished and didn't ask me to reboot at all. What the fuck? Is this even a Microsoft program?
-
The only thing VS2013 reboots for is if it needs to install .net. That just means you already got .net.
But don't worry: the SQL Server installer will "make up for it".

I'd still feel better if DBAs just did their job.
I'm a DBA and it's not my job to modify databases to add constraints. I could suggest it, but the application designers and owners would have to agree to it. I'd then be able to implement it.

And Amazon decided the best way to pack all that stuff was in a series of 4 truly EPIC boxes.
And then TireRack added the tires (banded in the customary pairs)
