That's β . It's not a real emoji, but quite recognized on this forum.

Why is this even syntax in any language? What's wrong with
string(_Params[3])

Does that red rectangle have an underline or am I hallucinating?

But it wouldn't fit the theme :(

It's a category link!
-
But it wouldn't fit the theme :(
Then use ? Or if you want to get fancy, you can use
Doesn't fit any theme really, but it's the only way to get the correct flag colors with Discomoji...

Well, I also hoped that choosing France might cause an additional reaction. Don't ask me why, my brain just had the idea it might. Often wrong, the damned thing.

So you made your bot capable of posting in the Lounge, and then made it incapable of posting in the Lounge again?
Not just my bot; any bot based on the latest SockBot code. And since it's configurable, if I do want him to post in the Lounge, then I just reconfigure and restart ;)The real reason I put the feature in though is basically so there's another way to control how noisy the bots are.

A yellow heart
Win 8.1 and Firefox, btw ;)

Grey for me. It's you and your damned coloured font again!
-
Either a hollow square or a weird strawberry-looking thing, depending on platform.
-
I get this:

-
No colour for us Linux infidels then?
-
I'm guessing Windows and Android?
Yes. Linux gives the same results as Android, FWIW.
-
So I ran it through a "Unicode Decoder", and I think it got confused...
As character names:
U+0026 AMPERSAND character (&) U+0023 NUMBER SIGN character (#) U+0031 DIGIT ONE character (1) U+0032 DIGIT TWO character (2) U+0038 DIGIT EIGHT character (8) U+0031 DIGIT ONE character (1) U+0035 DIGIT FIVE character (5) U+0035 DIGIT FIVE character (5) U+003B SEMICOLON character (;)
As raw characters:💛
As a string of HTML entities:💛
EDIT: the Preview pane has screwed me once again!
EDIT2: FFFFUUUUUU!!!!1EDIT3: Fuck me. I give up, it's not worth my time trying to force this shit software into displaying what it shows me in the preview window. Just imagine the whole quoted section is in the quote box. Fuck this bullshit.
-
Well
💛
does produce the desired result. Of course, that's the HTML entity, not raw characters as the decoder said.
-
-
Yeah, but he's saying, why have that instead of the alternative that he proposed.

That doesn't make it right.

I prefer having my casts not look like method callsβ¦
-
Would
CType(object, type)
be a compromise?
-
I don't see why not; I've made use of LINQ's
Cast<T>()
method before, which is a similar sort of thing.
-
I prefer having my casts not look like method callsβ¦
I prefer my casts having the word
_cast
in them so I can find them easily.J/K, I prefer not having casts...
-
IMO, the problem with casts (unlike other unary operators) is that they're rather long in writing and often could validly be considered to work either on the result of the expression rather than the single item. Function-like notation would make this clearer.
Another offender in this area (in C) is
sizeof
.

Status: Got my book collection out of storage and set up. Most of my paperbacks are the Star Wars Expanded Universe. Suck it, Disney.

Suck it, Disney.
Don't worry, they will found out some way to retroactively charge you for such things. If they can copyright things from public domain, that should be pretty easy for their lawyers.

Status: Oh, joy of joys, the bathub water-exhaust-funnel-thing seems blocked, and no amount of plunging can dislodge whatever's causing it.
OK, so I went to the local dollar store, and dropped $3.50 on one of those long thin bendy brushes which go down pipes. With that, and a little persistance, I was able to remove a considerable mass of knotted hair and matter from underneath the bathplug. Now I can at least hear the water running out of the tub. Hopefully tomorrow morning I can have a shower without finishing up ankle-deep in soapy water...
EDIT: forgot to mention that I took the opportunity to take a photograph of said hair/matter condensate and send it to my wife...
-
-
Yeah, imagine a $3.50 one of those...
-
You should have bought some Drain-O, or preferably some of the higher-powered drain cleaners that you need a Hazmat suit to handle. They take care of hair clogs in a hurry. My wife has very thick hair, before I remodeled the bathroom and put a strainer type drain in as part of that, I was very accustomed to using that stuff a few times a year.

That's what you want. Those little hand snakes are a PITA. ;)

Seconded. I was skeptical about the effect it'd have on our blocked drain but it really sorted it out.

When I did a GIS, as I was typing "remove hair from" to find that image, it autocompleted to "remove hair from anus". The internet is a strange place...
Or Google really knows your preferences ...

I removed hair from my bathtub's plughole earlier...

Or...Google thinks I am an asshole and that I need to trim my beard? We all know how machines have trouble with figures of speech.

He could go after my Spoon...
Not really, no. I decided that I'll only make quality posts from now on. No I couldn't keep a straight face either.
Maybe you can start a discussion about some Eastern-European Political topic ...
That would involve me knowing shit about politics.
And yes, more posts because someone broke the VPN and I'm now waiting for it to get fixed.

Status: Pissed. Finally got an email from a tech working for an ISP we have to run some tests with. Which sucks right now since I'm not at the office. Also, can't get into contact with anyone I need to help me with the damned thing. Testing is supposed to start in about 45 minutes, and I can't even start working out the logistics of it.
