Well you wouldn't have even survived that long if not for my moral fibre:
Blakeyrat forces CarrieVS to kill PJH or Polygeekery. She refuses to kill, so Blakeyrat kills her instead.
I died so that you could live, and what do you do? You get yourself killed! Ungrateful bastard. Why can't you be more like PJH?

That's what you get for having morals...I left those behind years ago.

Am I TRWTF
Yes, you are: the
x+=1
in your second code sample creates a local x, which shadows the global x in f's scope. (Python is a two-stage interpreter that builds an AST then compiles to bytecode, hence it 'sees' the local x in f during semantic analysis.)

Maybe I had plans to kill his ass directly afterwards
Isn't the point of the hunger games that there can only be one person left alive? If so, why would anyone collaborate in the first place?
-
Ok so you're doing like 5 things wrong here.
Would you mind enumerating them for the rest of us weedheads?

Same reason they collaborated in Battle Royale: better chances of survival early on, then you can go Rambo on the others when there's less of them ;)

Weaker players would collaborate with stronger ones in order to last longer and perhaps have an opening. Mid-level players would team up with weaker ones in order to eliminate stronger players so they are left with weaker players after they are gone.

I can have a guess:- Using ternary expressions
- Using
new int?()
in a ternary expression (to be fair, my quills did twitch when I wrote it) - Posting
- Being a hedgehog
- Talking to @blakeyrat

You forgot:
6. Being British. The worst crime of all.

I know how it works now, but it's still spooky action at distance, since one innocent-looking statement can change the meaning of another one that came before. And it's not very intuitive that reading x refers to the global but assigning x refers to a local.

Status: Mother of god the forums are running slowly. When we moved droplets, did we end up on a server with dual P3's?
Isn't that an extra P3 over the previous one?
-
Isn't that an extra P3 over the previous one?
Apparently not. It is just dragging today.

Now you make me want to play the Oregon Trail with people from the forum and see who can't swim.

Challenge to self: see if I can manage to get a working Discourse server on my smartphone. Run benchmarks.

Day 1: Installed Linux on phone. It is now useless for calls and the WiFi doesn't work, but hey, it's running!
Day 2: Realized I don't have enough space on the phone for the Docker image. Bought a bigger SD card.
Day 3: Downloaded all the required files from the Discourse repo. Tried following instructions but failed. Will try again tomorrow. Stupid Linux.
Day 6: Tried following instructions for the 14th time. Still no working install. Internet over Bluetooth is not helping.
Day 14: I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR "WORK"! I HAVE TO INSTALL DISCOURSE! YOU'RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME! AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN "NOT ANYMORE"?
Day 27: Muahahahaha! Muahahahaha! IT'S ALIVE! IT'S ALIIIIVEEEE!
Day 28: Phone died due to overheat while trying to make a post. Need better phone for this.

Why not just pick them up at the supermarket?

I skipped the rest and just put the summary so as not to
Âmake a post several miles longbe @ben_lubar.

Status: Windows desktop gets really unhappy about going a month and a half without being rebooted.
Status2: Windows Update always hits an error trying to check for updates; only manual "check online" works. Downloading 90 updates.

-
Status: Oh thanks for updating the estimate on a project I'm working on for you without telling me there was an update coworker. That was real helpful.
-
See you in a month!
Meh. Installing 30 of 90. Might be done by the end of lunch. It's not like there was any work I wanted to do, anyway.
-
Day 56: OK, the Linux system I created by combining Gentoo and Arch seems to work. If I can now figure out why bash keeps crashing, I'll be able to install GCC 2.95.1, which should be able to produce a version of glibc compatible with this custom web server from 1998 I found on an abandoned ftp server.
Day 132: I think I could finally fix the wifi if I replaced the network stack with NetBSD's. It should just be a moment.
Day 865: I finally have a fully functional Symbian phone running on a HURD kernel. I can't remember what my objective was but I can't stop now. I can't stop now. I have to keep going.

I filled in the names during a period when either due to what I believe are termed 'server cooties' or just my work's network being inadequate, it really wasn't feasible to go and find everyone and check whether they were capitalised.

Apology accepted. (If it helps, remember I'm named after the UNIX utility...)

Just be wary: I hear there's a fox prowling around here somewhere…

Status: Got like 4th "Mediocre post" badger notification since this one appeared:
Must be the most mediocre post ever.
Unless I keep getting them in the Lounge but stupid Duckhorse won't show them, not even to me. If that is even possible. I don't know anymore. I give up on all logic.

I got the highest KDA, so I'm the winner.

I only lasted two days?
longer than me. you lasted until night of day 2... i got killed in day of day2

That's probably why I then teamed up with Blakey: grief-stricken, I was clearly driven to insanity…

See you in a month!
After the final reboot, check windows updates again: 54 updates remaining ...
-
By the time you're done it will be patch Tuesday again...
-
54 updates remaining ...
No important updates available
29 optional updates are availableHmmm, why is a MS Security Essentials update "optional?" 2 Office updates, 1 .NET framework, 4 drivers and a slew of "Update for Windows."
-
2 Office updates, 1 .NET framework
Those will at least trigger a new avalanche of updates
-
Only eight, four of which are the drivers I didn't update in the last round.
-
Four Windows updates installed, and no reboot needed. What are the odds the driver updates won't break anything?

Status: It's been two days. There is no end in sight. The sounds of Scooter still blare from my headphones. I keep telling myself that I should listen to something better, something more profound. Maybe even some classical music. Some classic rock at the very leaHOW MUCH IS THE FISH!?

It's that time of day again — "Good Post" notification spam time. Although today the server is sufficiently BelgiumÂed that the notifications are trickling in onesy-twosy, instead of a dozen at a time.

Status: apologizing to people on the forum for posting a stupid amount of stupid stuff today. I blame the combination of overtime and amounts of rage I experienced at work today. Went a bit [more]crazy[than usual].
Filed under: Re-read some of my posts and facepalmed...

Yes,
When you do it the first time, it's called proofreading.
When you do it the second time it's called "trying to remember who I trolled in this thread".

Actually I just downloaded all my comments, so I
cancould run some statistical analysis on my entire comment history...

Bad idea: try to load that CSV into Excel...
Filed under: Though since they switched to xlsx it finally can handle more than 65k rows...

Hmm... all 1.4MB of it at once...

Joke's on you though, I don't even have Excel installed!
