How young are you? Do you have any children?

If I did they would certainly be needy now!

Status: why are you asking me about putting my ruler app on the Windows App Store? What kind of monster are you that would ask me to interact with that… that thing?

I assume it was someone from this forum then.
-
@Zecc nope.

I forgot I was avoiding coffee this week and I accidentally drank a cup.
Such mishaps are well known to happen due to chronic hypocaffeinaemia.

I just heard a manager utter the sweetest words I think I've ever heard:
"We didn't test it, so that's on us."

@izzion people who grew up on the RGB color theory cannot reproduce non-digital light sources?

I have the weirdest stupid ideas.
Like with my recently rediscovered desktop app writing, I had the idea to write an omniconverter. No clever manipulation, just you could open as many file formats as I could figure out how to open and save, maybe with some minimal UI to browse.
Mostly for really old formats, like I have a bunch of assets in the weird binary format for AMOS Professional for the Amiga. Some are images, some are tracker modules, part of me wants to have a tool to salvage these (but also anything else I could imagine)
It's not like I don't already have a backlog of projects that might be more useful to someone than that, but my brain is like... naaaaaah you want to work on this instead.

But when a manager says us, they mean you.
In this case, the manager was not my manager.

A sound format, usually used for music. It was a bit like having a MIDI file, except all the instruments used samples embedded in the file instead. Its advantage in the 1990s was that it gave you almost all the quality of a WAV file, but was enormously more compact. Its disadvantage was that players were far more complex.

Also known as chiptunes. Blipetti-blip-blop...blop...blop...
-
@Applied-Mediocrity Chiptunes didn't use samples. Modules did.

@dkf Yes, okay. Better living through -ry. Be glad I'm not wrapping it all up under keygen music

keygen music
Demo scene, when the whole application including music and psychedelic graphics fit into less memory than you need for the favicon nowadays.
-
Status: Goddamit you all nostalgia... botherers. I opened up my "treasured archives" from 2010.
Yes, yes, not proper oldsk3wl. There's infinite channels and patterns and shit, and there's conspicious absence of pitch slides and other effect commands... but as long as there's Axy, it should count.
-
@topspin there are formats even Imagick can’t open though.
-
@Applied-Mediocrity even back in the old school days they were channel mixing to get “8” or even “16” channels on hardware that only had four actual channels.

Yes, because you sent your f*cking snow over to the right side of the big pond.
But I do not use special winter tyres either - all-year tyres are good enough here.

What is this??
Big, readable fonts? Did all the disciples of Jony Ive at Apple die out? What happened to “fuck you, and fuck your eyes. Make it thinner!”
This is at least 4 times as bold as the ultra-thin font was before.
-
@topspin Older people need bigger and clearer fonts.
How did find out?
They know everything about you.
