Status: I think it's working again?
But then again I could have sworn that the "largest delta" should be less than half an hour if it's actually working...
Edit: uh... duh... erm... well.... I guess it's normal again? Magically?
Fucking Microsoft....

Status: We've been told from on high to stop using log4j as soon as possible. They're serious; I've also seen Thursday 16 December fly around as a deadline.
Luckily, we're not using log4j in the first place.

Milk the fuck out of that!
Schedule urgent meetings and start out with "information gathering" as the first one to "identify affected products"....
-
@Tsaukpaetra I've got plenty of other work to procrastinate with. Or I'll fix a minor bug this afternoon and everyone will think it's taken 2 days of hard work instead off the actual 3 hours.

I see no meaningful difference from any other kind of spinach

the burnt kind doesn't give you big honking arm muscles

I better not find bugs in bagels. Or any food for that matter.
Would be an improvement over raisins

@Applied-Mediocrity admit it, you just typed "spinach and raisins" into google and just took whatever came first.

@topspin Let's keep some mystery in my shitposting thought process

So you used bing?

Status: Mom's tyres got delivered. The fucker just dumped them on my front porch. He had to make extra effort to maneuver around the railing up the stairs, just so I would have to make extra effort to maneuver around the railing down the stairs and put them in the garage - instead of just dropping them off in the garage directly.
Are kids these days really that averse to any form of human interaction that they'd rather make life harder for themselves and others than talk with a stranger for two seconds?

Yes. Wait, kids?
-
@topspin Amazon delivery people, much like waiters, are almost exclusively under 20. Nobody else wants to deal with this bullshit for that kind of money. Hence I assume whoever it was, it was a kid. And not having strong enough to avoid carrying tyres up the stairs is another tell.

That's not the case here, it's the opposite.
The "Amazon Flex" drivers provide their own vehicle and I can't imagine too many under 20 can afford the right class of insurance, and for the drivers where Amazon provide the van I'd be surprised if there weren't insurance requirements that got in the way.
-
@GÄ ska I got that. Not sure you caught my joke.
-
@topspin no I didn't.

-
@Zerosquare she often exhibits intelligence of one. For example, she could write "just leave them in the backyard" in delivery notes, but she didn't.

@topspin Your status is in another castle. (Lounge access needed)

@Zecc it's this very same thread.

@topspin What the hell? So it is. I though it was in the Lounge version.
Am I going insane?
Yes, but that's unrelated.

Luckily, we're not using log4j in the first place.
But you can bill several hours of work for the project "stop using log4j" while actually slacking at TDWTF.
-
@BernieTheBernie I don't work billable hours. I just need to deliver the amount of work an average person would do in 40-hour weeks.

Well, you could describe how you investigated your projects for that library and cleaned it up. Sounds good for your supervisor, he'll believe you did some work then.

I have nothing that could possibly use log4j in my entire codebase

@Applied-Mediocrity So what? Just pretend. does not understand.

@BernieTheBernie Well, alright. But there's another problem:
-
@Applied-Mediocrity I'm always surprised when people post such small unread counts.

If it's not on the first page its
I did not know that existed. I'm more disturbed than usual.
-
@Zecc there were a few times when mine was below "99+". Once even going down to the 70s. No idea how it happened, I think it's some forum category changes. (Such as when you get added to bot testing or everyone gets removed from Salon.)
It's been nicely sitting at it's destined value for "99+" for a long time now.

Yeah I no longer have nearly as much fuck-off time. Sadly...?
-
When I came back I just marked everything read. (And ignored the Garage and a couple of other categories I didnât really care, e.g. the help category because honestly I didnât know enough to be helpful)
These days I donât think I go much above 10 unread at any given point⌠not that is not a challenge declaration.

So, say... about 10 hours worth at best? Which leaves you 30 hours to waste on this forum.

I'd probably get away with that, yes.

I tend to have 20â40 first thing in the morning (because, ideally, I've been sleeping, not reading the forum all night) or if I've been busy with other tasks for a few hours or (on rare occasions) working, but probably at least half of those are .

I was about to post that when I anti- and clicked the replies button and saw your post. My Monday count can run closer to 60 since on competition weekends, I don't tend to read the forum.

Status: Today is December 15th. I live in Nebraska. The high for today was in the mid 70s. 4 days ago, we had a bit of snow on the ground that lasted all of 12 hours.
As of right now, there is at least one tornado on the ground within 30 miles of me and we're in a tornado watch until like 8pm.

My brother had a friend who would take a lawn chair and sit on a hill overlooking a trailer park whenever they had a tornado warning.
I think that friend would fit in here.
