😈 The Evil Ideas thread

There are so many "antivirus", task killer, and "battery saver" apps that are completely useless, it's annoying.

Google's Ads' Math
My wife and I had a very short engagement. Shortly after I proposed, she had nothing but engagement ring ads. Leading up to the wedding, she had wedding ads. Now that we're married, Google has done the math, and she sees a ton of ads for baby stuff.

/me finds this scary, too.
Why the fuck is there a "thought of the day" thing I have to click through to get to the site?
What is this, web version of "Did you know?"

Loved that game. You should play "The Cave" If you haven't already. Will take you right back!

There's a fancy restaurant near where I live that my wife go to every now and then. They ask if there's any occasion, and will do certain things if it is. Do you think it would be evil if I told them that my wife and I were expecting our first child?
-

I'm going to buttume that their thing list is stuff like birthdays, anniversaries, etc. but it could be worth a shot (granted if these things they give are like a free drink then it may not work).

It's usually an insert in the menu, maybe a free dessert.

Are you expecting your first child?
-
I think the evil idea is that they aren't...
-
I thought so, too, but it seemed ambiguous.
-
I like ambiguous evil,

Are you going to call it "Damien"?
-
Not expecting.
-
Nobody expects the spawn of satan.
-
But that this point in time, everyone expects the Spanish Inquisition.

Price discrimination

No screenshot of Links/lynx showing $39.99?

Is it random per session or discriminating by user agent? I assume they're all from the same IP.

Wow. So have they profiled budgets for different browser users? Who gets the lowest prices?

FWIW, w3m reports 50 search results but not the actual results.

Too soon.

No, it's OK for this thread.

We don't have a Godwin's Law thread.
-
I'll come back in another 70 years then.
-
But this wasn't a comparison or analogy. Just, yeah, so Nazis are fuckin' evil.
-
You just compared them to evil. There we go.
-
This thread is getting too meta for the General category.
-
And too General for the Meta category, how about that?
-
It's a conundrum, to be sure.

You're the margarine of evil.
Ok, this made my mind come to a screeching halt and BSOD for a moment. If it weren't for the rest of the original context, I'd have NO IDEA WTF you meant by that?!?!
Now, given how long this thread is, here is the full context as a reminder:
You're semi-evil. You're quasi-evil. You're the margarine of evil. You're the Diet Coke of evil: just one calorie, not evil enough.
Sesame Street song now plays in my head: "one of these things is not like the other...one of these things is not the same..."
-
Someone hasn't seen Austin Powers in a while? Though I don't remember why I invoked the margarine of evil. That's weird even by my standards, which are pretty weird to start with, unless my crazy-ass brain was doing something 'clever' interchanging margarine with meta-evil.

If anyone's interested in caption competitions, there's one running [here][1] for this one.
At the time of writing we have:
Good evening, and welcome to another edition of The Sky at Night
We will continue to condemn the vile practice of transvestitism
Hello little boy, would you like a sweetie?
And one I've just submitted there (not that I'm particularly interested in the prize):
Pope Francis and Bear work-swap for the day. Bear disgraces himself in Vatican.

Making users unwantingly click ads by moving them as you hover over a video.
Possibly a coincidence, but I'm betting they kept it that way on purpose.http://webmup.com/HLcPO/vid.webm
