🙅 THE BAD IDEAS THREAD

Well, I think I've seen enough of it to know!
I work in Manchester. I know exactly what that's like.
-
here in Portland.
So “That rain looks really hipster!” is reasonable?
Well, I think I've seen enough of it to know!
I scoff at your hipster rain.Out of the three most populated cities within the Pacific Northwest region (Seattle, Vancouver and Portland, respectively) Portland has the warmest average temperature, the highest number of sunshine hours, and the fewest inches of annual rainfall and snowfall among the three cities.
-
I don't know that separating Vancouver's weather makes much sense, since it's a quick swim away. The difference in weather can't be all that noticeable.
But anyway, that all just makes it even more hipster, does it not?
-
If you find it, let me know. Sounds pretty interesting.
-
Google failed me, but I think I might still have it somewhere. It might only exist on the virtual machine I set up to play with, the one with TrueCrypt full-disk encryption and a 25-char passcode full of numbers and symbols... so we'll see...

separating Vancouver's weather
I think the article was referring to Vancouver, BC, not Vancouver, WA, which indeed would not make sense. However, I'm too lazy to go back to Wikipedia to check.
-
Almost certainly.
Damn, one boxing doesn't look like it goes to the right part.

Damn, one boxing doesn't look like it goes to the right part.
The coastal areas—especially in the cities of Vancouver, Victoria, Bellingham, Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, Portland, Corvallis, Eugene, and Ashland—are some of the most politically liberal parts of North America, regularly supporting left-wing political candidates
But at least this is the right topic for that onebox.

The election is 14 months away. Why does the media think this is news now?

Some countries will go through 14 governments in that time.
Or it is the time it takes to form one
-
The election is 14 months away. Why does the media think this is news now?
Because the NSA stopped every single domestic spying program and that means there is nothing more meaningful to report.
...oh...wait.
-
Why does the media think this is news now?
If I were running a network news operation, I'd take any chance I had to legitimately put DEEZ NUTS on the screen.

I am going to go ahead and assume that you grabbed your junk when you said that.

W.T.F.

This is a thing that should not exist.

What? I've never known anyone struggle to deal with this concept. Trigger the flashes accidentally, either leave it, or hold the stalk in that direction for just longer than a flash and it'll stop.
I just got confused with mine for the first time just last night. I was flicking my lights from hi-beam back to normal and tweaked the stalk just enough to engage the signal. I thought I'd actually engaged it. It's not a good idea to try and figure out is wrong when descending a twisty road.

Bad idea: emailed a PowerShell script I wrote in one day to a Microsoft employee who is a PowerShell guru.
I can only imagine the s he might experience whilst reviewing it.

If you were on mobile, which is different, you could've spoken it to your phone oh yeah, never mind, Gramps.
Get up with the times and stay off the grass. I might have been able to do that, but I wouldn't have figured out how to quote what I quoted.

She may as well say, "If I see anyone open carry, I am going to force them to shoot me."
-
Uh. Is she aware the police would arrest her?
I can't even imagine why someone would think such a thing, much less type it into a social network.

We frequently think that about you.
All kidding aside, this is what entitlement society gets us.

Uh. Is she aware the police would arrest her?
Honestly, I suspect it's a joke, but you never know. Hmm...google found the original:
And her bio currently says:
Mom. Wife. The safety of our children, collectively, is what SHOULD bring us together for #GunSense. #NotOneMore
So...there you go. Presumably just a hyperbolic bed wetter.

Oh feh. It's a troll account.

...says the person who didn't realize he could use his finger to select what to quote and then say what he wanted to add.

I can't even imagine why someone would think such a thing, much less type it into a social network.
Because she's stupid and she thinks it would stop someone.
ETA: Or a troll, as noted.
Some funny shit on her timeline. I like her avatar of the Moms Demand Action from Everytown Mayors Against Illegal Guns Because A Bunch Of Those Mayors Are Criminals.

Nope, I wasn't able to find it.
-
Darn.
I found some PNG bombs, but no JPEG ones. I guess I'll have to keep my eyes 'd.
-
I thought it was called "dontload.jpg" or something like that. Like I said, though, Google didn't turn anything up.

Don't the police carry guns also?
-
There was a time when I thought of having a look at Steam. Between you and Blakey, you have cured me of that idea.
-
Is it better to carry the gun concealed?
-
It's better to not carry it.
-
Indeed. I keep mine hidden as a heat-sink in my computer. Pointed at the door, in case it gets too hot in there.
-
Pointed at the door, in case it gets too hot in there.
Too hot in the door? What do you plan on doing, shooting at the heat?
-
Well, considering how popular it was, it was probably an excellent idea.
-
Would you believe me if I said 'fire door'?
-
No, the darkness, of course!

"Polling joke candidates has been fun, but we're going to take a break now and stick to serious people like Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and Kanye," said PPP's Tom Jensen.
If that isn't a joke Tom Jensen is making, I'm afraid.

fire door
I'm imagining a text adventure...
In the room is a control panel with a button labeled "FIRE DOOR".
-
You've been showing up late for work. You let people in without even a semblance of a valid key. I'm sorry to say this, door, but... you're fired.
-
-
"I'd show you the door, but..."
