//Make sure shit that we got from server is valid
public IsValid( ) {
if(sizeof( ) > && sizeof ( ) < ) {
return ;
}
else {
return ;
}
}I see no problems with this! SHIPIT!
Also, Swift coders are gonna be , Discourse doesn't support emoji in code blocks.

Discourse doesn't support emoji in code blocks.
You just need to use the unicode:
😿 = 😆 + 😡;
Of course, then we're back to the old font support problems
-
But.. but... then my code won't be as purrty! Or confusing! That would simply not do! I want, nay, DEMAND that my code be littered with proper yellow smiley faces and blue arrows!

The problem is, obviously, that the positioning of the switch is all wrong. The way this is drawn we can't be sure if he's turned on or not.

The way this is drawn we can't be sure if he's turned on or not.
The additional missing piece of information is which country it's in. If it was the UK, for example, he'd be turned on either way...

A scrolling mechanism whereby the entire page has a font size of 1px, and as you hover, it fluidly zooms to a readable level, like moving a magnifying glass over the thread, or an extreme version of OSX's utterly obnoxious taskdockbar.

Font sizes can do funny things when they're pixel based. Better to use something like 0.1pt.
To improve upon your idea, you could even let the user define how big a readable level is. Let it be a user option.
And why wait for 2.0? THey haven't even made it to 1.0 yet.

Thanks - I'm more accustomed to the first use case, but the second is probably better suited to the way I browse forums.

You're doing it wrong. No, it doesn't matter how you're doing it. You're almost certainly not doing it the way Discourse is designed for you to use it; therefore, you're wrong.</sarcasm>

If it comes to a toss-up between being wrong on 1 forum I frequent, versus every forum but 1, guess which side I'm going to pick. I don't have a beef with Discourse the concept, but I do have a beef with software that forces you to do things differently - as opposed to giving you the option of doing things in a different way, or reverting to the way you're comfortable with. It's even more onerous if the software forces you to do things differently for no apparent rhyme or reason except because its creators decided the current way is wrong.
I could continue, but this has all been beaten to death multiple times already and management has made it clear they aren't willing to address these concerns, which is a shame, but there you have it.

Well, first we're going to need to make computers think like people.

I've seen presentations done like that. It's at least as bad as you would think from the description. (Presentations are meant to bore you to death, not make you vomit your guts out from motion sickness.)

Hey, he is! I didn't get it until now (mostly because Discourse squeezes the avatars to ridiculously small sizes).

Had to look for it but if we had animated gifs for avatars it could be even worse, but then again that would fit Mike.

Actually, I think a MetalScroll / minimap for a complete topic would be extremely cool.#ideas for Discourse 2.0
How hard would it be to do a server-side render of a page with all the posts loaded, create scaled down copies in known dimensions (say 1200px, 800px, 640px, and add that to the right side of the page? (fit by the browser to viewport height).

It supports unicode though - would you mind critiquing the code bit in the (currently) last section at

ttf-ancient-fonts (on Debian) helped indeed. "wooried" smiley still doesn't work though. Anyone who could confirm?
Also, yay, my code is now part of TDWTF legacy. To all souls that will read it some time in the future:

I think I'd better add an image of how that section renders here to that section...

I'd like to see more "dynamic scrollbars" showing miniature versions of the document (or approximations, if it's not practical to render a full document).
Programs like Chrome and Netbeans already use the scrollbars to display information, so that's the next logical step. Plus it would make "dragging the dark gray box through the longer light gray box" have some meaning (you're moving your screen through the document).
But then Apple would come and try to invert the direction so you move the document instead of the screen and confuse everyone.

Little of column A, little of column B. After harassing Nagesh about his avatars, I thought it would be mildly amusing to emulate his behavior. Also, I needed a new avatar, the WTF guy was just too confusing.

Taking a cucumber to the library.

http://www.torontosun.com/2014/06/04/man-charged-with-indecent-act-with-cucumber
He received a suspended sentence and 12 months probation for the indecent act charge and a stay of proceedings for the mischief charge.
When asked if Davis appeared threatening to the library staff or patrons, Hopkinson said he wasn’t sure if there was any threat.
“I don’t think he had any free hands to make any threat,” the officer said.
