🙅 THE BAD IDEAS THREAD

The kerning, it hurts it hurts

Also, that pole is totally leaning on one side. What were they thinking!?

Barrel distortion, innit. So, upside-down "S", use of zero instead of letter "O", "A" in "Library" is wonked, no "The", no mention of when the opening time is, kerning, have I missed anything?
-
Forget about kerning. Line spacing is inconsistent.
-
Oooh, yeah.
also, it's perspective distortion, not barrel distortion.

It should end in a question mark to also piss off grammar nazis.
-
And maybe an errant semicolon, because no one really knows when we should use them?
-
Irregardlessly, trolling is fun.
-
and random words should be "quoted" for "emphasis".
Filed under: crap, I meant to misuse those quotes
-
Did you mean "misuse" those "quotes"?
-
Irregardlessly, trolling is fun.
Might as well bunch up the panties of the punctuation nazis also.
-
How about doing it disirregardlessly?

I thought of the same thing. Great minds and all that stuff.
-
I was thinking of Billy Connolly's take on it.

For additional examples, refer to anything that George W. Bush ever said.

What's the purpose of using a croissant as a top bun if it only covers maybe 60% of the sandwich?
-
Deliciousness.
-
Nah, this shit's pretty gross, it's not a real croissant. Seems to be some low-fat "health food" alternative. The lunch I brought from home turned out inedible, though, so I'm just choking it down for the protein :/
If I was going to make a sandwich like this, I'd get a really good croissant, cut it in half, and stuff it with filling. Or just eat the croissant and eat the chicken salad with a fork. This configuration is just bizarre.

I miss living in Missouri.
I'll be buried in the cold, cold ground before I recognize Mizura!

Mostly, they're used to terminate statements and field declarations, but sometimes, they're just used for comments.

Mizura is only the southern half. Us northerners pronounce it properly.
-
I think we should just end all sentences with question marks? It would make things more interesting?
-
I'm not sure? It may or may not be a good idea? I suppose some experimentation is required?
Ending all sentences with question marks? I just got another Discourse plugin idea?

@PJH, what is the procedure to nominate someone for the Pedantic Dickweed badge?
-
Yes! My dream come true!
And to celebrate:

Nice try, but that's not a proper name. The badge's name is "I'm a pedantic spellar/gramming nazi.".
-
Or rather, it is a proper name, but not the badge's proper name.
-
So it's the "Pedantic Dickweed" badge, not the "Pedantic Dickweed Badge" badge? Hmmmm... Let me give it another shot:

Whatever the fuck it is, tell me and I can hand out a few nominations here.
-
Pedantry badges at the time of this writing are:
- I'm a pedantic spellar/gramming nazi.
- Knight Pedantic Dickweed of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath
- Viscount Pedantic Dickweed of the Most Noble Order of the Garter
- Margrave Pedantic Dickweed of the Most Perverse Order of the Purple Dildo
There is no single Pedantic Dickweed" badge.

To actually answer your question, just flag the relevant post as a notification to the moderators with a brief explanation.

You missed a quote.

And I am unlikely to ever move beyond the spellar/gramming one simply because I'm not hardcore enough.

And people haven't gotten into the habit of flagging this sort of thing.
-
Mostly because it's damn common around here. *tips hat*

We're supposed to be flagging pedantry?
