@Zecc or, each of them corresponds to separate storage. 6 GB, but only 1 GB usable at a time.

There are pen drives with all sorts of looks and shapes.
Idea: a pen drive which is a cube with USB plugs on each face. They all look alike but only one of them works.
Or 5 sides blow up your PC's USB controller when inserted, but the 6th is a normal flash drive.

With a normal USB plug, you only have to rotate it three times. Now you'll be at it all day.

Evil Ideas Thread is
-
A ban-sharing system in which participants can issue a ban check for a salt plus a secure hash of that salt and the email address.

-
A salt-sharing system in which participants who do not pass salt are banned, but it results in a food fight, because one can only either pass salt or ban someone, but not both.
-
A salt-shaming system in which participants can secure a band by emailing the address of a cache of hash.

@TwelveBaud It's just like how Spotify pauses ads if you mute your system volume during an ad.

Bitch, you ain't gonna like that....

Ah, sorry, photo quality issue.
She's nibbling on a red pepper.
-
@Tsaukpaetra If she's anything like mine, she's probably just happy and won't feel a thing. We tried training ours to not eat random shit (sometimes, literally shit...) by "hiding" small treats dunked into hot chili powder. She gulped them all down and never showed the slightest sign of discomfort.
Of course we haven't got @anotherusername supply of nuclear-war-grade chilies, so maybe it would have worked with stronger ones.

Of course, once the dog is dead, he would stop

On the one hand, these things are slower. On the other hand, there's not a lot of space for sensors on them (let alone the power supply!), cars at least have defined routes to drive on whereas these things don't and it's generally a bad idea.

It's worse than the onebox lets on...
Some phonemakers followed Apple's lead and got rid of the headphone jack, but Meizu has gone above and beyond that. The company has announced a new phone called "Zero," which doesn't have a headphone jack, a charging port and a speaker grill. It doesn't even come with a SIM card slot and buttons you'd usually see on a phone -- the only elements that disturb the surface of its all-display, 7.8mm-thick ceramic unibody are its 12MP and 20MP rear cameras and two pinholes. One is a microphone, while the other is for hard resets.
-
@boomzilla Apple wouldn't do that.
You can't sell adapters when there is no ports
-
@boomzilla All that, and they still kept the fucking camera bump.

Next year's version will do away with the camera. 2021's version will do away with the screen.
-
@loopback0 said in THE BAD IDEAS THREAD:

This will be Apple's Next Brave Move. An $800 smartphone with no screen. Then they'll offer a portable phone-sized screen for $499, along with a $79 adapter dongle to connect it to the phone's only Lightning port.

Can't wait for the 2022 version where they'll get rid of the phone part and give you a full week on a single charge
-
@mott555 $800? Maybe if you wait a couple years and get a refurbished one after they're discontinued.

You can't wait that long. Once they hit
vintage
, the price increases 10x.

I think that's when I bought my newest MacBook...
-

It's vintage in the US, but it's obsolete in the rest of the world.
-
@dcon It's a few months after, for me. Just after the retina Macbooks were released in summer of 2012, I got one from the previous generation for a pretty big discount.

Apple, as an American company, consider the rest of the world to be obsolete
-
@hungrier I was curious... Turned it on, "about this mac" -> MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012)
Damn, I guessed pretty damn close! (Ok, now I'm really curious... opens Quicken, Nov 23 2012.)

At least these guys got that part right:
-
-
@Keith It's a better idea than leaving it in a garbage bin.
-
@Rhywden It'll never work. The point of Lime and friends isn't just that you can leave them anywhere, it's that you can pick them up anywhere too. If the bike can only be picked up at a charging station, that's half the fun gone.
-
@Keith Don't hospitals function basically that exact way?
