ContentID is getting EVEN MORE FUCKED than the troll in here

It's hard.
Well it's a pretty damn good thing it's hard. Otherwise you'd have a change of government every week.
Careful, Boomzilla's gonna overthrow your government.
I don't think anybody here would mind that too much...

Release early, release often.
-
Seriously now - how many revolutions were there each year before global surveillance was a thing?
-
If you don't want the government spying on you, you're either overly paranoid, doing something incredibly bad, or scared because you don't understand technology like the prime minister of England.
Or you believe in the concept of a limited government that respects professional confidentiality boundaries? (Spying on lawyers is a BIG no-no.)
Don't forget doing something perfectly ok, but not ok in the eyes of the government (e.g., disagreeing with the government). This is why the 4th and 6th amendments were created in the American constitution.
This. How hard is it to imagine government spying on lawyers who are trying to mount a case for government misconduct not having a chilling effect on said lawyers' ability to lawyer? (Sidenote: I should do a bit more research on the Paperwork Reduction Act...)
-

The current thinking (by the American foreign policy powers that be) is that we should just outsource this work to Russia.

Yeah, I doubt they want us back either.

It always amused me just how much of the print on the old visa waver forms for entering the US (I forget the number) was going on about the Paperwork Reduction Act, something that non-citizens really don't give a about. The current system appears to have actually reduced the amount of paperwork for real by moving it online instead, so it's at least not paperwork…
-
Well, the USPTO got busted a little while back for flouting the PRA (among other administrative laws); at least the NSA doesn't have to worry about that terrible fate, though...
-
At least I'm not advocating them being brutalized by murderous dictators like Blakeyrat, though, hey?
Who made Blakeyrat a dictator?
INB4 comments about Hanzo, just in case.

Any time I actually have ads anabled I seem to get them for hotels I've stayed in (i.e. already am aware of), or industrial farming equipment
Where exactly are you staying?
But that's, indeed, the problem with "relevant" ads. I buy a network card or something, I'm not likely to buy another one in the near future. I certainly don't want to see ads for network cards on every site I see for the next two weeks. The last time that happened, I got 5 ads on one single page, all for the same thing.

I bet you Putin would welcome you with open arms. I hear he's got polonium for people who disagree, too.
-
Or the annoying: My wife sends me a link to a dress that she likes, so I click it and then get followed around by
dressesvarious forms of ladies' apparel, including undergarments, on every site that I visit for the next three weeks. This happens on Google Chrome, which follows my profile at work where I also use it [INB4 Chrome is TRWTF.]. Just to add to the awkwardness, my boss, who happens to be female, sees the ads in my browser on more than one occasion, leading to raised eyebrows begging the question.FTFY.

I was waiting for that...
Well played, sir. At least I didn't waste my time explaining what it really means.
-
I swear that I even had a feeling that you would be the one to flip your feces about it.

I admit I am probably one of the people most likely to take things at face value (except sarcasm; my sarcasm detector usually works pretty well), and thus am prone to fall for trolls more easily than some of the more jaded folks around here.

Ditto.
