    Tha's better

  • How long did that take you?

  • Discourse touched me in a no-no place

I bet, because of all the JS, nobody could write a bot to simplify the task.

  • β™Ώ (Parody)

    The New Likes Topic...

    Oh HELL no.

This is the first time I've ever seen nested discoquoting work more than 2 levels deep! :O

    We're back in the 90's!

Oh come on, We've done this before! Everyone, stop pressing 'reply all'!

It was quite fun seeing this happen at Intel

    Maintaining chain for posterity

    Posterity? On discourse?

    More like "posterior."

We are nearing the point at which the streams cross. Cross the streams!

Don't cross the steams. It would be bad.

So are we maintaining multiple reply all threads now? Is that it?

We just got a little carried away.

It's ok. We'll just keep this one gong instead. It's fine. Not like I put any work into the other one anyways...

How could crossing the streams be any worse than "normal" civilised discourse?

    Also, sorry about your thread.

At least he can see what Civilized Discourseβ€Œβ„’ actually entails.

!@!! YOU DARE QUESTION MY VISION!! Ban for you! Ban for you! ban for you! (you're cool)...

We have reached verticality! I repeat, we have reached verticality!

Next comes The Singularity. Thanks @wood!

    PLAD!! MAKE IT TO PLAD!

What I like perhaps above all is that, although it fails to actually render the text, it keeps vertical space for it.

    Nested quotes is :doing_it_wrong: guys!

You're right! They've all become @wood! OH GOD!

How have we not broken this thing yet?

    Just give it a while.

Dammit, I get quote notifications for every one of these. It's almost as bad as the original likes topic.

It's the new likes topic: Part 2: The Quotes Topic: Electric Boogaloo

    Probably needs jeffing, though.

Yeah, that's what I was hinting at. @boomzilla? About your job...

Yeah, good luck with that. 🚎

What's even worse is since πŸ’ΎπŸŽ makes you click on each post you want to jeff, he's got a lot of scrolling ahead of him...

    Anyhow...where were we? Oh yes...

  • Whoa, I was spamming Page Down through the original thread while these posts were being jeffed. I got to the last post that didn't get jeffed, and Discourse wouldn't let me see anything below the post. As in no buttons, no suggested topics, and clicking the blueleveator did nothing. Had to hard-refresh to see the jeffening.

You thought i was serious? I'm just running out of sarcasm topics, had to find one somewhere...

Oh yes...

This topic really illustrates the lameness of Discourse's implementation of post-by-post navigation (i.e., J/K), which jumps to the middle of the target post, not its beginning.

This is the first time I've ever seen nested discoquoting work more than 2 levels deep! :O

    Maintaining chain for posterity

    Posterity? On discourse?

    More like "posterior."

We are nearing the point at which the streams cross. Cross the streams!

Don't cross the steams. It would be bad.

So are we maintaining multiple reply all threads now? Is that it?

We just got a little carried away.

It's ok. We'll just keep this one gong instead. It's fine. Not like I put any work into the other one anyways...

How could crossing the streams be any worse than "normal" civilised discourse?

    Also, sorry about your thread.

At least he can see what Civilized Discourseβ€Œβ„’ actually entails.

!@!! YOU DARE QUESTION MY VISION!! Ban for you! Ban for you! ban for you! (you're cool)...

What I like perhaps above all is that, although it fails to actually render the text, it keeps vertical space for it.

Oh yes...

This topic really illustrates the lameness of Discourse's implementation of post-by-post navigation (i.e., J/K), which jumps to the middle of the target post, not its beginning.

    ftfy

    Well, yes, that too.

I'm hoping this topic will improve the Diescourse cooties situation.

It doesn't seem to be having a measurable effect (yet.)

TECHNICALLY, it's just a few lines of text... so might not kill the server, but our browsers...

!@!! YOU DARE QUESTION MY VISION!! Ban for you! Ban for you! ban for you! (you're cool)...

You thought i was serious? I'm just running out of sarcasm topics, had to find one somewhere...

TECHNICALLY, it's just a few lines of text... so might not kill the server, but our browsers...

he mostly agrees with trivial complaints about the UI.

Except for "the big one." πŸ˜†

That's why I said "trivial complaints."

Two buttons being flipped on mobile/desktop is pretty trivial.

Well...you know...mostly. When he can be bothered to understand the report.

This is the first time I've ever seen nested discoquoting work more than 2 levels deep! :O

    We're back in the 90's!

Oh come on, We've done this before! Everyone, stop pressing 'reply all'!

You're going to crash the Exchange server!

Please remove me from this thread.

You didn't send that post via email. Try again.

Please remove me from this thread.

You thought i was serious? I'm just running out of sarcasm topics, had to find one somewhere...

    Hrm... that's interesting....

    What is?

You can quote multiple times... but apparently it breaks discoparser if you quote it again too... more interesting

Yes, nested quoting is ... different. Only the first nest works correctly:

Here's an attempt at another nested quote. This one won't work.

  • Why the fuck is it notifying me for every reply? I can't even find myself in that wall of blockquote.

No, I'm not watching the thread, either...

  • I got the raw for a couple of the posts (a trick in and of itself, because the raw is so much shorter than the post that once it switches the raw's so far off the screen that Discourse offloads it) and I still can't find myself.

    What the fuck.

I changed a bunch of the usernames to @wood early on in the chain. Were you one of them? If so, it must go by post number owner, not username. (I changed it for this quote too)

I just love how easy Discourse makes it to misattribute quotes. Admittedly, it's less likely to happen accidentally than it was on CS; still, it's really easy to falsely quote somebody on DC.

  • @rc4 said:

No. Pretty sure I was not.

  • That's...special. Go Discourse!

  • Maybe we broke the notifications system?

  • @anotherusername said:

Yeah, I don't see any posts by you in this topic prior to your complaint, nor anything of yours quoted in the pyramid. Discobug #82551951831262343246523589321456012643356. Have you been banned on meta.d yet? Wanna be?

  • @HardwareGeek said:

Have you been banned on meta.d yet? Wanna be?

If I'm not mistaken, that would require me to have registered an account at meta.d at some point in time.

  • I consider my choice not to register an account there a proactive self-ban.

  • I was wondering why it took over a minute for this topic to load. Now I know that I can safely mute this topic.

    Wow, you're right.

I was dimly aware there were few updates coming, but I had no idea the situation was this... strange. The owner just disappeared from public life. He left a business guy to sell new licenses and maintain the site, but is otherwise out of communication. He's not completely gone since people notice recent activity on his accounts. He's just ignoring everyone and everything to do with sublime.

Is he sick? Tired of coding? Busy with other projects?

    No one knows.

    Interesting.

And look, they're using a real forum, not a POS like Discourse.
