i think that's a yes?
Sockbot needs a bunch of responses. That way there would've been an outside chance it would've replied with "yo" or something unintentionally funny.

Does MSX's user manual count as BASIC instruction book? There was a list of commands, I recall. I never managed to get that damned sprite to move by key presses though.. friggin' graphic mode.

So, this is three days old, but this createXHR() javascript is copy/pasted from a textbook, "Professional JavaScript for Web Developers" by Nicholas C. Zakas.
-
Yup, probably a boilerplate the teacher hasn't updated in a decade. Poor kids, being taught that ancient crap.
-
I taught myself programming with Atari Basic, an Atari 400, and a pile of ANTIC magazines. Sucks to be y'all.
I knew absolutely nothing about programming until I got to college. How much do y'all hate me
(I should also mention I really enjoy Javascript for some reason!)

STRIG() for input IIRC (or one of the STICK commands), then PUTSPRITE(x+STEP, y+STEP). You're welcome.

I knew nothing about programming until after University and a couple of years bumming around trying to decide what to do with my life

Sounds like you're being punished enough already.

We don't hate y...(I should also mention I really enjoy Javascript for some reason!)
...ou enough, apparently.

should i mention i enjoy a little NodeJS myself? (in addition to Python,PERL, C#, C++,PHP,BASH,blahblahblahblah)

I recall PUTSPRITE but not STRIG... I could make it bounce around but I suppose I just didn't read the keypresses right. Anyway, I thank you so much. I still have the computer, but I think I have misplaced my cassettes during these 30 years...

I did too. And also FirefoxOS. All until I had to persist stuff to a database. Then it all started to crumble down in callback mayhem between error handlers and roll backs. Never again unless I'm well paid.

Do we have a new candidate for honourable, honorary TRWTF?

I remember that the cursor keys were tricky like that: you actually used joystick-type commands to read them, as opposed to the standard INKEY stuff.
I still got my SVI-738 as well - and even some disks for it that prob don't work no more (as well as a couple of carts that probably do). However, these days I usually use the blueMSX emulator - which is a very nice piece of software indeed.

I nominate the guy who started the UAC thread.

I knew nothing about programming until seventeen years after graduating from University at age 26.
