Recommend To Me A New Avatar
-
BORED AT WORK!
Here's the wiki page for my current avatar, Zero III:
Which amazingly is correctly one-boxed. Shocking.
I THINK IT'S TIME TO CHANGE MY AVATAR so you should provide recommendations.
Past avatars:
- A frame from an old comic of a panther growling and jumping
- A frame from an old gangster comic from the 1940s of a gangster in a black rat costume holding a gun
- A screencap from a horrible Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle show made with puppets, showing their frankly terrifying Master Splinter puppet in a "virtual reality" (i.e. swirly background)
- Pangolin
- Roos Tarpals from Star Wars, the only competent Gungan
- I can't remember back any further than that
NOW THAN YOU KNOW THE TREND you should have no trouble finding a new one.
-
I did not put spaces in front of any of the dashes.
Yes you did:
- A frame from [snip] - A frame from [snip] - A screencap from [snip] - Pangolin - Roos Tarpals from [snip] - I can't remember [snip]
-
I did not. The toolbar button did. The bottom three I typed manually.
So if you remove a space, your list gets tabbed-in a level. That makes... sense? (If you add a space, it also gets tabbed-in a level.)

Rejected.
-
I have found someone grumpier than Grumpy Cat, then.
-
I suggest any random Pokemon or Digimon.
-
Rejected, too vague
-
This guy:
-
Looks like a young Nathan Fillion.
-
-
Tubgirl.
-
Why is the 5th result Dwarf Fortress?
-
That means @ben_lubar has been busy.
-
Perhaps Ben is Blakey's sockpuppet and his identity has some leakage somewhere.
-
So far this is top of the list.
Why is the 5th result Dwarf Fortress?
Because I made fun of him on Steam, and he apparently screenshotted it and uploaded it somewhere where it got associated with my username.

I suggest panel 5 from here, with or without cropping down to the face.
-
Compelling, but I like early-90s keyboard kid better so far.
-
Following your Link has shown me a banner with the following face:
I hate changing avatars but this facial expression is interesting enough that I will suggest it to @blakeyrat so how can shoot it down!
Filed Under: I always prepare for people to hate my choices! It works well so far
-
Rejected. Is that thing even human? Is it supposed to be an alien?
-
I don't even know. I have never seen this "person" before. It was on a banner for said webcomic that tried to make me follow, like and subscribe or something. I just cropped it slightly so it had better dimensions.
Filed Under: It might as well also be an A.I.
-
-
I think it's perfectly appropriate for you. It sums up the lack of humour in anything that you project oh so well.
-
Rejected, not obscure enough. Everybody's already seen it a billion times. Plus most sites don't allow animated avatars.
-
One frame per site but not the full frame. Just the shifted and added colours!
Addendum: Filed Under: gotta make some more accounts to fit the number of frames, obviously!
-
-
Rejected, who the fuck is that?
-
-
How about this?
-
Rejected, 80% of the face is forehead.
-
-
Compelling. It does kind of make my eyes bleed, not necessarily a disqualifier.
-
Here are a couple more variations:
I thought about doing some blending/interpolation between the images based on a 2D noise map but that's too much work.
-
How about this tweet just send my Felicia Day:
-
-
Oh, that. I went back and clicked the link. It's Stand Still, Stay Silent (I think.) It's some weird comic set in the middle-distant future, in Scandinavia, after some kind of plague. I thought it was neat enough to read the first few dozen panels (all that were written when I heard about it) but not interesting enough to keep my attention.
-
Does it explain why that dude's nose is just a little pointy nub with no bridge?
-
I suggest:
https://meta-discourse.global.ssl.fastly.net/user_avatar/meta.discourse.org/illspirit/120/32566.pngBecause you guys have something in common:

Rejected: someone else is already using it.
-

I would assume "that's just the artist's style". The pages I read weren't really drawn much like that.
-
Rejected: someone else is already using it.
If that's actually a criterion I'd suggest you retool that wallpaper website of yours to produce avatar-sized images.
-
That would be interesting to do auto-avatars like your F rectangle.
Currently it takes a little too much human curation (it produces too many images that are just a simple gradient or a solid color), but for that use that wouldn't be too big a problem... you could just have a "give me another one" button.
-
Honestly, I had in mind something that would primarily produce more noise on the gradients.
-
-
If you wanna fiddle, it's up on Google Code. The code's awful, fair warning.
-
Quite so, quite so. I'm just amazed that @blakeyrat's reaction to my suggesting Jeff Fucking Atwood's picture was to complain about the amount of forehead.
-
Something from 100 bullets.
Google it. It's avatar gold.
-
Too modern.
