MFW seeing someone call Jim Sterling the only game reviewer worth a damn:

status:
trying to figure out how to make no-ip accept an AAAA record for "staradept.com" in addition to "www.staradept.com"
-
Under Advanced Records on the Modify Hostname?
Or make one a CNAME of the other?
-
Me: "Have you gotten a chance to watch my stream yet?"
Dad: "Still can not get it to play."
Me: "What happens when you push the play button?"
Dad: "It says there is no connection. Do I need a connection? I will try on my phone."

Now I'm imagining someone getting impaled by a giant snowflake-shaped ice throwing star falling from the sky.

Status: Take that, LLVM Intrinsics! You will now obey me! Hah!

Status: fucking level 7 pirate ship cannonball penetrated to my lowest deck and killed half my animals.

Status: Windows Phone 8 doesn't support group messaging. WP7 and Windows Mobile 6.0 both supported that WHY WOULD YOU REMOVE IT!!!?!?!?!?!
To clarify, I can send group messages, but returned messages go to individual conversation with that person and not the group which makes simple Q&A over text a nightmare.

Yes it does. I did it just a couple days ago.
WP7 and Windows Mobile 6.0 both supported that
So does WP8.
WHY WOULD YOU REMOVE IT!!!?!?!?!?!
They didn't.

That's not what happens on my WP8 phone. Admittedly I have 8.1, not 8.0. But I recall it working on 8.0 also.

Status: Still over 300 posts to go in this topic. Screw it. End

Status: Finally have Internet access from home for the first time since I moved to WA. Likin' it.

Not the US, but (and not full speed):
-
Yeah, I could get more speed if I paid more , but I'm pretty happy with the performance for what I'm paying, and it beats the bloody heck out of http://what.thedailywtf.com/t/milwaukee-pc/4329.

So does a pair of tin cans and a wet piece of string.

What doesn't?
Mine's with paying less than I used to pay for 20Mb with the same ISP 4 years ago.
It's always been < £2/month.
-
Two weeks ago on my WP7 it existed. My WP8 is the same carrier and it's gone, and there isn't even an option for it under Settings -> Messaging.
WP 8.1 isn't available to me unless I put my phone in developer mode and update it myself, not sure if I'm ready to do that.
-
Also stayed on this topic but:
. I haven't changed page/topic..
-
And I'm currently streaming HD video from YouTube and based on the Blinkenlights on my switch, someone's playing something on my game server too.
-
Did you reply on undefined?
I hope so...
-
Yes, but hadn't gone anywhere so same topic.
-
Status: going through my local Steam library looking for games to make videos out of... they're all games I actually might enjoy playing. Hm.

My decrepit old desktop that hasn't been online in 4+ years is handling Discourse surprisingly well.
Meanwhile,

Nightmare. Hope you finish before 2016.
Now 12/120, so probably sometime tonight or early tomorrow morning, if nothing goes wrong and no manual reboots are required in the middle.
I'm just glad the updates are still available, even though there won't be any more. It took several tries just to get Windows Update to work at all.

Thunderbird on my desktop just informed me I have 25571 new messages.

Or not. Very slow, and occasional "Page not responding" dialogs, but it hasn't crashed to desktop. It will probably be useful for attendance badges, but it doesn't look like I want to actually use it if I have my work laptop available.

This needs to be an emoji somehow. It saddens me when I can't accurately represent my status with a single emoji.
(Oh wait, that's all the time because emoji fucking sucks)

Status: Reading and posting here, because I can, instead of doing things I really should be doing. And because it's even colder and damper in my garage than in my cold house. Last week — freezing cold but sunny — was nice; this week — not freezing but dark, foggy and drizzly — is not nice. I hate dreary, but only 9 months to go before I see the sun again.
-
Status: First day back. Plenty to do (including catch up on TDWTF) but very little will to do it.

That will be my status in about 11 hours.

Status: it's icy out.
TIL: @accalia bounces, and (this time at least) so does her Surface 3.

How can some people not read the goddamn stacktrace when their code throws exceptions.
Details:
- I run debug, to see why a thing doesn't load
- Code loads some things
- Code selects the first element of a [some UI library's version of a Windows Forms ComboBox] to be displayed
- EXCEPTION! (before I cleaned this up, it was caught in a catch-em-all block)
- This, of course, means that the lines of code after that (which load more things) won't get executed. Whoops.
- Looking at the stacktrace shows me that the exception actually gets thrown in an event handler because something doesn't get initialized properly
- The one who wrote that thought it was a bug in the ComboBox thing and didn't care that not everything got loaded properly
*sigh*

XAML? In WPF/Silverlight I almost always hooked up event handlers on the main control's Load event because that stuff happens if you directly hook up to the ComboBox events in the ComboBox XAML. Took a lot of self-head-bashing to figure that one out. "How is 'sender' null?! It's firing an event!"
-
No, this is Windows Forms. The thing that was null was completely unrelated to the ComboBox.

Status: wondering who ordered the fresh batch of WSODs that I seem to be experiencing today. They're coming up pretty frequent now.

First work day of the new year:
- Traffic is backed up.
- I left my lunch sitting on the counter at home. It won't survive being unrefrigerated until I get home.
- Project lead hasn't yet figured out what my next task should be. Therefore, TDWTF until he does.
-
Definitely seen more today than normal.

Pretty dangerous to be eating things while sitting in the fryer, isn't it?
-
Status: OK, need to get ready to do an approximation of work for the first time in 2 weeks.

It's not on, and the oil does wonders for my skin.

I'm usually pretty immune from those, but I'm starting to see them.

And now lots of times where the suggested post stuff and other bottom of the page boilerplate doesn't come back after a post.
