yeah i'm not wrapping my head around all that any time soon. i'll just use plot.ly and hope that they don't mind the constant requests that update the graph.
for now.... i want to figure out how to do this myself eventually, but for now they'll do a better job.

So is that the thing where you try to edit a post, and open the wrong one, and then when you do try to edit the right one, the edit gets posted to the original (wrong) post?
Because I'm sure that's a thing that's happened to me, but I was damned if I could reproduce it....

Here's Dwarf Fortress:
I can tell what's going on there, but some people have trouble, so there are some 3D visualizers that already exist, such asStonesense:
Armok Vision:
Here's the program I started writing last night:

well yes, try doing that with a touchscreen OSK when you can't see the text you are typiong because the OSK hides the diescourse edit post part of the browser windoe.

I can use stuff like websockets without being assaulted by callback hell!
Why would you... You just register listeners FFS, what would you need a bunch of callbacks for?
Now, if stuff that you have to do after you receive something from a websocket involves callbacks, ok, but that has nothing to do with websockets themselves.
Here's my loop:
Here's the entirety of my networking code for JavaScript:
If I did it with non-blocking callback sockets, I'd have to duplicate a lot more code and possibly introduce bugs that existed on one platform but not the other.
It's not even hard to convert a non-blocking callback to a blocking function - here's what I do for requestAnimationFrame:
If I have two JavaScript functions that need to run concurrently and communicate, without gopherjs, I'd need to rewrite the functions so that the part after each communication was in a callback, which would be made even harder if the communications were in a loop.

Doesn't your keyboard have placement nipples?

Yes, but they're really small.

Status: why does a laptop need to have 40 screws holding it together? ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

Because, despite any claims to the contrary, you're not intended to service it. You're intended to buy a new one.

Status: marveling at code that ends up reading a file by calling 'read' - the syscall, not fread - for a single byte each time.

If I had my own computer company I'd sell "forever laptops" that came in a standard size and could be easily opened. So you just replace the main board whenever you feel you need an upgrade.
Yeah I would probably make much less money. Guess that's how the market rewards efficiency.

it would not surprise me if that really is an oracle error code.

I'm typing this while the walls are looking at me.
It's the ceiling that looks at me. Though not now as I'm at a friend's house and there are no insane clowns on his ceiling.
-
Why do you have insane clowns on your ceiling?
More importantly, why aren't there any on mine? That sounds awesome. I need to get some of those. Also, spiders.
-
Why do you have insane clowns on your ceiling?
Because the people who built my flat decided to put some there.
More importantly, why aren't there any on mine?
I guess your builders didn't.
It's far more disconcerting than awesome, but it's ok because it's in the living room. I used to live in a similar flat where the room corresponding to what is the living room in this one was used as a bedroom, so I had clowns to watch me sleep.
-
I guess your builders didn't.
My builders sucked then.
It's far more disconcerting than awesome
Maybe I'd think the same if there actually were clowns on my ceiling, but from afar it sounds like something that would be interesting thing to have. Note that I'm one of those weird people who, when everyone gets startled or disgusted, will just say "Cool!" and most likely start to study whatever the scary thing is. Not that I don't get startled or anything, but my curiosity is stronger than that.
Guess I have some "cat" in me as well :P
Also, congratulations on that milestone post number you got there.
-
It's not nearly as interesting as I like to imply it is. It's a ceiling boss with some sort of design that I think is meant to be flowers but one day I saw a circle of screaming faces with Krusty the Clown's hairstyle, and couldn't unsee it.
