@Tsaukpaetra What I don't get is why the phone would be that inaccurate in the first place. Most phones nowadays set their time according to the base station they're connected to, and the GPS satellites' clocks are insanely accurate, so the phone should be within 100m easily.
The only thing I can think of is the phone's clock is out of whack somehow, and that's throwing off the calculations.
It runs back and forth a few blocks. I can occasionally catch a couple Pokestops that are in the middle of a hospital complex about 4 -5 blocks away.
It is a pain when I actually want to battle the gym that I live over.

@Karla said in The Official Pokèmon Go Thread:
The drift isn't usually too bad on either if I am outside.
That makes sense: they'll see more satellites, which means better accuracy.
-
I finally got her:
Hatched her last night after I went to sleep from an egg I pickup at work.
My NA Pokedex is complete.
-
@Karla I hatched another Chansey during the VD event and caught 1 in the wild 16 CP (but I am keeping her since I will probably never catch another wild one).
-
Gen 2 is almost here
-
A surprising amount of people ran to the local swimming pool:
-
I will be sad when Gen3 starts coming out, and people other than me can catch Spoink :(
It would only almost make me switch phones.

@RaceProUK It's my favorite Pokémon! It's a pig that's a spring, with a pearl on it's head!

It's cute!
EDIT: but in all fairness, the images in the are blocked here, which is why I took so long :D
-
I got an EX raid pass!!!!
-
@karla
Too bad the servers will crash during the 5 minutes your pass is valid
-
I caught my MewTwo !!!!!

In fairness, I probably could be your mom.
Alohan Execcutor and he is gone now. They announced that the Alohan versions will be coming about a couple weeks ago.

Yea it goes off the top of the screen, it's ridiculous.

They put a pokestop near my house and with a bit of GPS fiddling I can sit on it all night. So I'm playing this again as it's now easier and I'm lazy. I've started using Poke Genie to try help sort the good from the bad, and I'm only keeping anything with a rating > 80%.
Are you wasting this much time with this game? I'm trying to get a handle on the more detailed aspects so it'd be good to pick the brains of a fellow geek.
-
@boner I hit level 40 in November and have a good amount of the legendaries.
I had a perfect Kyogre flee on me today.
I live over a gym and there are 5 of us in the house that play so we usually control this gym.
-
I thought I was doing pretty well, I'm almost level 28. What's left to do what you're Level 40? Just fill the pokedex?
If anyone wants to add me as a friend my ID is 5147 9369 1598.

Yeah, now I don't care about XP. Fill the pokedex and get the best of the ones that have relevance, oh and collect shinies.
They've had these mini events monthly...Community Days...3 hours for the chosen pokemon and the release of its shiny form plus a special moveset if evolved during the 3 hour period.
Raiding creates opportunities to battle and catch MewTwo which I have several but my best is 91% IV. So mostly just trying to get better ones.
I've found friendship actually a bit of work...
Work to hit level 30. Once you hit that then the pokemon cp and IVs are the same for everyone at least 30.
-
@karla That's a good tip about the level 30 cap. I've a real shortage of spacedust because every time I level up I power up my "good" pokemons.
I've only 1 pokemon "friend" which limits our raiding. I'm guessing for the really rare mons it's all about the level 5 raids. Friendships are useful for an XP boost, which you don't need anymore.
What's your view on CP vs IV? The mons I have with a high IV tend to have a lower max CP (so far). I've read arguments from both sides and am still clueless. From what I can make out a high IV indicates a high CP when the creature is fully levelled up, but .

You should be able to solo level 1 and 2 raids.
With your friend you should be able to do level 3 raids. But yeah the legendaries are level 5s. Near work I can just show up and there will be full lobbies at hope I am part of a group.me to organize.
Friendships are useful for an XP boost, which you don't need anymore.
Friendships helps battling both for raids and taking down gyms. And you will get extra balls to catch the raid boss.

Yeah, I like to show off my 96% + ones but if I catch something at a high level because of the weather boost I may evolve especially if candy isn't an issue in order to preserve dust.
I recommend that even more so for lower level players (more reason to hit level 30).
Also hope for a stardust event and play a lot and consider getting some starpieces. Also work on the quests...some quests give stardust. Plus at the 7th day you get 2000 stardust.
Be sure to at least catch 1 pokemon everyday because on your 7 day streak you get extra stardust.

Anyone working on Celebi research? Step 2/8 is make 3 new friends and I am seeing the advantage of having friends farther away (for trading hatches of their eggs).

I’m still working on step 1... hoping for a raid this weekend as all raids are over by the time I get able to PokéHunt (1900h) after work...
But sure, hit me up!

I sent already. Feel free to wait until you get to step 2 to confirm so you get the benefit.

I thought you had to be physically close to each other to trade?
But anyways, now that it is technically working again on my phone, I actually have a friend code (magically, I'm 100% sure it didn't exist 2 years ago).

To trade with each other. but if you hatch an egg from me...that pokemon is caught in NYC and you can trade that to someone close to for miles. Which is one of the medal/badges...because why else would we care?

It did not exist 2 years ago.
In software development, often new features are added... (imagine this in the cutesy voice you would explain where babies come from).
EDIT: Sent request.

@Karla said in The Official Pokèmon Go Thread:
if you hatch an egg from me
I mean, that's my question: How would I receive such? There's only Trade and Gift, and Gift doesn't seem to include an Egg (so far as I've received)....
-
@Tsaukpaetra gifts can drop 7km eggs (they're pink and yellow) but you need <9 eggs in your bag to have room. This is the bit I'm struggling with as the drop rate for eggs seems to be high.
-
I'm convinced trading can be a massive boon, the benefits are hit and miss though.
IV's are re-rolled on trade so trade anything high CP/low IV.
There's a chance to make a pokemon "lucky", halving the stardust needed to power up.
You gain candies for the pokemon you trade away, up to (IIRC) 6 depending on the distance between the catch locations of the 2 pokemons (up to 100km).
There's the trading distance badge to go for, if you like that sort of thing.
You can receive pokemon you haven't caught before so you can build up your pokedex. The downside to this is the cost of trading, in stardust. 16k for a "special (legendary/new pokemon)" trade. The good news is that this is discounted as your friendship level increases.
If you live with someone who also plays you're laughing, you don't need to transfer anything back to the professor again, just trade for extra candies.

This. I try to open gifts from people who are travelling when I have an open egg slot.
-
Man, all y'all discussing trading and raiding is almost enough to suck me back in OwO

I like to reroll high CP but lower IV pokemon. I got a Lucky Eevee at 89% and a lucky Chansey at 87% the other day.

You should at least use the infinite incubator.

Oh, sure. There's always an egg in that thing. And in one of those three-use ones. And I just got one two days ago at a pokestop thing, so there's an egg in there at 0km. The others are at 2.2km (for the last two years). :P
