Not sure what kind of beer you guys are having over there (evidence suggests coloured dishwater), but 500 ml of 5% beer will yield a BAC of 0.033% for a male weighing 85 kg.
And thus 3 of them will put you significantly over the legal limit (0.8%) in near all states now, and the kind of person who is going to drink and drive probably doesn't stop at 3. (It's not uncommon to hear about people who tested at .25 or higher.)

@Tsaukpaetra Yes, @mott555 will probably be blaming his double-posting on Windows 10 shortly, as it seems to cause him all manner of problems. :)

What sort of penalty does that incur? If it is just a small fine, it is a waste of time…

USPS decided your mail needs to go the long way round.
That's not funny. I ordered a t-shirt from Teespring recently. Sunday night I got a notification it had shipped. It was IN MY CITY late Sunday. Monday it got sent to Fort Worth, and switched from DHL to USPS, so I am probably not going to get it til tomorrow. Shit, if I'd known it was going to get sent on a wanderjahr, I would've called the Post Office to see if I could just go pick it up.

If you are caught driving over the limit, and you keep your head together, you can avoid a DUI charge, but it'll probably cost you $10,000. Source: a friend to whom that happened. If you do get charged with DUI and convicted, you may be looking at jail time, but it'll also cost you thousands, and could cost you your job.

Over here: Loss of license, massive fine. Depending on whether you endangered others, this may include jail time for up to 5 years.

Sure. Now re-run your calculation for a 16%ABV beer.
Based on my not-terribly-extensive experience, people are much more likely to get legally drunk by having multiple drinks than one super-alcoholic one, but I don't drink a lot.

Use inotify? At least it'll only trigger when something has actually changed.

@Tsaukpaetra Is that a spool of CD-R disks? What year is it where you work?
Also your diagram of SQL joins contains 5 times more joins than I've actually used in practice. Generally reducing the set to just "inner" and "outer" (left/right doesn't matter) is sufficient to solve every SQL problem.

Considering how often I actually use optical media? Meh.
It's more effort to obtain new media than to pop in stuff I already have and erase it when I'm bored.Fun fact: If you're erasing a RW disk and it breaks halfway through, you can tell even after re-doing the erase where it stopped.
Status: Considering re-erasing all the DVD-RWs now...
Yeah, someone I mentioned it too thought that was a really Good Idea and now I'm double-erasing the disks before putting them into the shred bin... My big mouth...

Effective 4/9/09 the Domain/Windows password policy was changed to ensure the highest level of security. Following are the new password requirements:
- Password must be at least eight characters long
- Password must contain characters from the following:
-
- English uppercase characters (A-Z)
-
- English lowercase characters (a-z)
-
- Base 10 digits (0-9)
- The password cannot contain three or more characters from the users' account name, including first and last name.

c/d/foo.h: #define SOME_STRING whatever
q/r/foo.h: #define SOME_STRING whatever
Neither of which is the one on the include path of the file I'm trying to compile. Both q/r and a/b are in the path; a/b is earlier than q/r.

@Weng My only Uber experience involved a driver who was mad that he couldn't pick us up a mile away from our actual location and then left us hanging.
My wife was an Uber driver for a while, but it was difficult to make much money and too many of the riders were big enough jerks (especially in Georgetown) that it just wasn't worth it.

Status: Was reading about Trumps ideas on foreign policy. Got stuck on his idea that (paraphrased) "we should only let people into the US who share our american values". Ignoring the detail about who gets to decide what those american values are, and ignoring the fact that they would not let people like me in either, it gave me an idea for a TV show:
Introducing: The Citizen
Synopsis: Ten illegal immigrants compete to win a US citizenship. Every week we see them try out all-american pastimes; baking apple pie, taget shooting on the gun range, drunk driving, target shooting along the Rio Grande, etc. etc. The audience get to vote who has the hardest time sharing the american values and should be sent home, and they also vote on what american values to try out for the next episode. In the final episode we learn that the remaining immigrant will have to go home as well, because they entered the country through the wrong illegal route.
