April fools CSS

Haha funny now take it off, forum is unreadable on mobile
-
For posterity:
Whole body is rotated slightly. Long threads become impossible.

Not funny. I want to kill someone. Holy elgiu WHY IS IT TILTED?!?!?!?
Filed Under: Yes, I know why

But it's only 0500! How will anyone see it if I take it off?

My OCD has a message for you.
fsck you with a rusty bash shell.
EDIT: Replied to wrong post...
Also, I don't really care that much, but maybe take it off for a while and turn it on every 15 minutes or something? Really screw with people :P
-
-
@ben_lubar try rotation on post body instead
-
@Weng I rotated it the other way, so at least you'll be able to scroll past the margin.
-
@ben_lubar now this is properly amusing.
-
@ben_lubar you should modify the post CSS to make it slightly towards the center. To further fuck with everyone's OCD
Filed Under: disalign ALL the things
-
@sloosecannon Dammit. Now every website I read feels crooked.
@ben_lubaaaaaaaaaaar!

It's already quittin' time here so I won't need to put up with it. I'm glad I'll be asleep while you slow pokes carry on your fooling.
-
FOR FUCKS FUCKING SHIT SAKE.
the forum is completely unusable on my 720p phone. The view of the post is gone by post 15
I have the option to see the page or the menu at that point.
-
You australians and your strange sleep schedules.
-
I don't mind the tilting, but the aliasing in the blue line is terrible. Wtf? Can't we even draw non--axis-aligned lines properly any more?
-
@cvi Norepro?
What browser?

@sloosecannon said in April fools CSS:

Firefox (38, it's probably time for another update soon).
-
@cvi no repro on iOS Safari, too.
Go Apple, go!
Filed under: lack of modern features is good. It saves you from @ben_lubar
-
@cvi The rendering is awful on Opera too.
Yet it looks fine on Vivaldi. I thought they used the same engine?
-
chrome is mostly fine (EXCEPT ON MOBILE)
this line is rendered weirdly, probably because of pixel/subpixel arrangement.
-
Someone toned it down. Coward! Coward!

The gray lines that separate posts are fine, it was just that blue line in the screenshot that was really bad.
Now, I can't for my life figure out where that line came from, it sure doesn't exist any more. (Some sort of post highlight?)
-
@cvi Somewhat repro'd
It's when you enter a topic at at certain post - it's highlighted. Yours does look weird to me.
-
@swayde I don't actually get the jaggies in the glowy highlight, though ;-)
(Still not sure what those blue lines were, maybe some buggy leftover of the glowy highlight once it's faded away? FWIW, can't repo them right now.)

Aargh, first the forum is unreachable and now posts cannot be properly read.
What are you going to do next to drive users away, install Discourse again?
-
@anonymous234 said in April fools CSS:

Different font rendering engine. On non-OSX (and presumably iOS gets this right too), most font rendering engines get small rotations catastrophically wrong. The individual letters are rotated correctly, but there's a major problem with handling the positioning of them: the calculations are done with integers, resulting in cumulative errors at some angles.
Some font engines get the logical position correct (by doing it with
double
) and then you're into the how-well-do-we-rotate glyphs. Which is distinctly variable, even from font to font. (It ought to be fairly good with web fonts, but “ought to be” is a long way from “is”.)The built-in font renderer on OSX and iOS is really good.

Alternate posts ought to lurch in opposite directions…
-
Meh.... stylish... fixed.
-
@ben_lubar thanks for making it usable again
-
-
@dkf There's something else going on though. When I hover over the likes text and the little bubble pops up, the entire post looks better for a split second.
-

Blame the browser; for sure the site isn't asking for that sort of thing.
-
I didn't even notice before reading this thread.
-
@CreatedToDislikeThis it used to be worse
-
@swayde It seems worse again.
-
@Weng tilted posts?
note to self.... DO NOT REFRESH THE FORUM UNTIL TOMORROW!
/me tries to drag and drop the gif to upload it, Chrome opens the GIF instead.
FUCK!
/me spends thirty seconds fiddling around in dev tools to disable the new CSS rules
that's better...
-
@CreatedToDislikeThis @ben_lubar would never do that to us. Not in a million years. No. Never.
-
Is it really that difficult to
.topic .posts > li, .topic-list > li { transform: inherit; }
In Stylish or whatever, instead of moaning about it?
-
@PJH it is on mobile. I usually only use computers for work and gaming
But I don't mind - as long as I can actually see the posts - see my screenshot above.
-
Why not apply a very slow CSS animation instead? The page starts straight, and it should take at least 3 minutes to get to the current inclination level. It stops when it gets to 180º.
-
-
Speaking of April fools
-
very slow CSS animation instead
Not tested terribly well...
.topic .posts > li, .topic-list > li { transform: inherit; -webkit-animation:spin 1000s linear infinite; -moz-animation:spin 1000s linear infinite; animation:spin 1000s linear infinite; } @-moz-keyframes spin { 100% { -moz-transform: rotate(360deg); } } @-webkit-keyframes spin { 100% { -webkit-transform: rotate(360deg); } } @keyframes spin { 100% { -webkit-transform: rotate(360deg); transform:rotate(360deg); } }

In other april's fools... I actually want this one to be real...

That would work except that it only can use published scripts.
Publishing a script just for one day sounds too much like work.
-
@PJH My reaction to this was "WHY IS TWITTER CROOKED?"
