@ben_lubar Yes, sir, I would like 4 nodeJS, please.
-
Status: no sleep anywhere ever.
-
@RaceProUK yeah, sorry about that.
-
Status: Today someone reminded me of a nice one we fixed a couple months back:
-h
is a nice short option name. Let's use it as the short form for--hold
, which holds all work without providing any feedback it's doing so.
-
@ben_lubar Well, it wasn't exactly a Discourse-level outage :P
Oh, and for the interests of anyone who likes a graph or two:
And that's bad performance!

nobody answer my pms, must be a nodebb bug

Did you delete them before anyone could reply?
-
@Tsaukpaetra some, but not all

I learned from my ex-wife that answering that time of the month was a bad idea. (So was not answering. Or any other interaction. Or refusing to interact.)

Status: wondering how long it'll be until someone finds out what I just did and either complains about it or cheers loudly.

what I just did
I noticed the brief cooties and noticed the go-to-last-read banner only flickers before clicking itself.
Do I get a cookie?!

-
@Tsaukpaetra That's the white-on-white popup that shows up at the tops of threads, yes?
-
Om nom nom nom!
....
Wait, did you bite a piece of this before you gave it to me

Discourse is a WTF of ginormous proportions indeed, but to be fair, you can't blame it for NodeBBcooties, right?
Discourse is such a that it's entirely possible it could be to blame for NodeBBCooties.

Status: me selects the "darkly" theme and me likes the new forum :--) me wonders why it took 20 minutes for it to suddenly take effect!
Disabled infiniscroll too! fuck that shit, wow it is nice to have pagination it must have been invented by Apple yesterday.

@ben_lubar I think the fade-out delay on the marker needs to happen before the heat-death of the universe :P

It's not even a real forum anyway

STATUS
You're doing a good job and now you have to give a presentation on the new features.
What?! Ahh fuck! Someone is going to be sick for a few days!Can we get the emojis from the old place back or is there some kind of script to replace them.
I miss my nazi salute emoji

STATUS A bit confused.
So the code I'm working on was outsourced to some Russian company. So naturally enough I expect to see comments in Russian every now and then. What you don't fucking expect is... Hindi!?!?!? Chinese?!?!? comments deep in the bowels of your code that you outsourced to Russia. Did the outsourced people outsource it to somewhere else? Maybe we mixed up the outsourced crowds for a while and didn't notice...

Status: Last night I discovered that it is possible to play Skyrim for hours without ever hitting a checkpoint. :(

@RaceProUK the fade out delay is 15 minutes currently.

@HardwareGeek AIUI, one of the most popular mods is something that does a save periodically.

Status:
<del>blah blah</del><ins>bleeh blag</ins>

@ben_lubar Does it need to be that long? I can't imagine needing more than a minute.
-
@dkf So far, I'm playing vanilla. (I have no objection to mods in principle — I play some other games heavily modded — but the few Skyrim mods I'd looked at either didn't particularly interest me or would melt my GPU.) However, after last night, that's a mod I'd seriously consider installing.
-
@RaceProUK I copied what someone posted in one of the CSS threads.

@PJH what the hell happened to your avatar?
-
@ben_lubar his balls dropped.

I thought having an already uploaded avatar was preventing uploading a new one. So I discarded it.
Upload is still emulating Save Changes however.
Edit: Specifically, clicking the former makes the dialog disappear. It might be emulating Cancel - but the focus (dotted line around the button) stays around the Save Changes

Status: Blah, I don't want to do this thing...
Secondary status: why doesn't this composer capture Ctrl+B (IE 11, W10u1511) and do the bold thing. I had to actually CLICK A BUTTON!!!
-
@izzion we tried enabling the shortcuts plugin. It ended... poorly.
-
The place I work messed up the proxy so bad that chrome autodownloads any wikipedia page you try to view, and apparently also something to do with this forum. I keep downloading a file called 'embed' automatically when I open certain topics or scroll past certain posts. I have no idea what's going on, or why google decided that automatically downloading things you don't know about was a good idea.
-
@Magus probably iframely (onebox) plugin pulling something from Wikipedia?
-
@Onyx If so, that's less stupid than it could be, but that isn't saying much. Chrome is stupid.
-
@PJH I fixed your avatar. Hope that's okay.
-
@Magus said:

The proxy is probably messing with the headers. Chrome is likely getting a blank content-type or a wrong one.
Filed under: Fucking hell, why is there no backtick on this keyboard?

@Onyx THATS REALLY COOL BRO, but it doesn't change the fact that AUTOMATICALLY DOWNLOADING ANYTHING IT DOESNT UNDERSTAND IS STUPID AND WRONG!
Seriously, this is exactly what Blakey complains about! You people have no idea how to interact with humans, do you?
-
@Magus blame the HTML spec. There was no way to indicate that a link should initiate a download until HTML5 (AFAIK). Developers and users wanted download links that are easy to use so guess what browsers did?
-
@RaceProUK said:

Ask @FrostCat (link to the thread Ben is referring to). I only picked 15 minutes because he wanted it to "never go away". It's also only supposed to be a workaround.
If it is possible (as a plugin), it'd probably be better to just not have it get rid of the highlight class on the "bookmarked" post unless another post wants to become highlighted (like by pressing End).
-
@Onyx No. I blame Chrome. Downloading things is among the least secure functions a browser can do, and so it should always be user-initiated. Always.
