Yahoo's Business Model: Asshattery Indistinguishable From Malware

The first person they see after they do that first thing will tell them.

They could have become a serious competitor to Google
Yahoo! was the search engine before Google existed. In addition to search, they also had a curated guide of top links to pages on various topics. Then they deteriorated to the point where you had to click through full-page ads to get to much of anything, and I left for good.

Yahoo! was the search engine before Google existed.
It was them or AltaVista. Y! was good for stuff they took an interest in, but virtually everything I cared about required going to AV and going through a few pages of results to get something non-shit as Y! didn't index anything that wasn't mainstream.
Google was a complete sea-change. Automated-spidering for completeness, and search that actually gave you the right link first. I switched within 10 minutes of trying it first.

At least Yahoo was nice enough to make Mark Cuban a billionaire.

Two FYIs for people using Windows and need to install/update Java:
And for those who meddle with Active Directory and have access to Group Policy Management: you can push the registry key out as a GPO. :)
-
What is the second FYI for people using Windows and need to install/update Java?
Actually, it's one FYI for people who need to install Java and another for those who need to update it.
-
All that to get Linux to behave like an OS.
Uh...no? I guess I should have said that I run 64-bit java on there, because why would I want to run 32-bit java?

Google was a complete sea-change.
QFT. It's hard to appreciate now just how bad search was before Google. It was routine to try at least two or three different search providers and look through the first few pages of results on each one to maybe find the thing you were looking for, if you were lucky. (And that was on a far smaller web, of course.) When Google appeared it was like absolute magic. It was so far ahead of everything else that there was simply no comparison at all.

Want to also FYI this and post the template object? :P

I am not sure on how to do that, so I'll just post my values instead. I've created a GPO that applies a few registry Group Policy Preferences. This GPO is applied to the OU that contains my workstation as well as to the OU that contains my servers. The values:
Action: Update
Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Key Path: SOFTWARE\JavaSoft
Value name: SPONSORS
Value type: REG_SZ
Value data: DISABLEI have a second key for 64 bit Windows, it has the same values except for the key path. For that key, I use the following path: SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\JavaSoft

Protip:
You can safely delete anything that has the word "Sponsor" or "upsell" in it. Anything, always.

Yeah - I've used the no-shitty-adware installer for years.

delete something.
Is this the kind of thing he usually posts before deleting it?!?
I think I might be more sympathetic...

DMDD cupby fifth
This is what you post when you drink a fifth instead of a cup.

How would you know?

Does a DD cup hold more or less liquid than a fifth?

Does a DD cup hold more or less liquid than a fifth?
The volume is not constant; it varies in some sort of relationship with chest circumference. However, since the contents are usually semi-solid, I'm going to say probably less liquid.

Ah. Interesting idea.
Also, Discodiffs are best diffs:

A Markov chain would probably make more sense

You never know. Maybe it was implemented by Yahoo!

I wouldn't know. Find the next well-endowed woman who's going on about being able to breastfeed in public and ask her.

Jesus shinto-fucking poop, @fbmac... can you try turning the touchscreen off before using your phone as a vibrating anal dildo?
