Adobe Reader is a very polished turd

- "Question" icon.
- Sentence should be a question, but isn't.
- OK/Cancel instead of Yes/No.
Brillant!
-
WTF is wrong with you. Installing adobe reader. Are you trying to trigger us. GTFO!

You can't polish a turd.
INB4 Mythbusters proved you can

Adobe is awesome!!

You can't polish a turd.
Why are trying to teach a turd polish? so it can speak to the plumber?
-
You won't believe just how much Adobe they're going to give you!

See note 2 above. :)
Bad punctuation puns are wasted on you people. =(

Did I whoosh it? :O

Yes, I always feel like I need a rest after installing Flash, to prepare for the onslaught of problems that are inevitably about to follow...
Also, what year is that installer from, 1997?

Windows 10 finally removed applications' abilities to make themselves default handlers.
Their implementation is kind of shit, but thank God they're taking that power out of Adobe's hands.
-
It's not Muphry's Law [sic] if it is done on purpose!
-
ahhh i see.
I was going to say, not only is the msgbox poorly worded, it doesn't work.

No more Quicktime/iTunes wanting to FUCK UP ALL THE SHIT?!
Good.

Good.
Not to mention all the (other) crappy free-as-in-beer media player and image mangler applications. And most of the paid-for ones, for that matter.

I especially loved IrfanView trying to take over video files as well. To its credit, it did provide a nice list with checkboxes for you to customize, including stuff like "image files only".

Adobe reader is polished?

In a "this shit looks like it was coded on a potato field in Poland" kind of way.

I don't see the appeal. If you've already installed this turd and let it take over your PC and nag you for updates, well, it damn better at least open PDF files.

I would get the idea if it was about automatic shit. But when Adobe Reader asked me 'do you want to make Adobe Reader the default PDF reader?' and I clicked YES (or OK whatever), and then IIRC I also allowed it to elevate, and I got a message back saying 'couldn't set default PDF reader' I was annoyed. Especially when it was the Windows 10 new version update that made Edge my default PDF reader without asking.

THIS IS NOT HOW TUMBLR WORKS.
Or most other sites with /page/number URLs, for that matter. This is how you link to a post:

Dare I hope that Outlook has no way to work around this?

Muphry's
Is the mis-spelling deliberate?
Did I whoosh it?
I'm pretty sure I'm whooshing this thread, in spite of the fact that I'm supposed to be a devil at wordplay. I fear the day I realise that people have only ever considered me to be mediocre at it.
I shouldn't be so surprised. I'm so tired. All I've done for the last hour is periodically release endorphins.

I'm sure Outlook, or some other douchebag, will figure out a way to do it anyway.
-
At least Outlook isn't bad with dates, unlike Thunderbird...

Nope, it just tells the user to change it manually if they call the old API. http://textslashplain.com/2015/07/31/on-defaults/Or, they could be super evil and just write directly to HKCU\Software\Classes or if admin HKLM\Software\Classes (god forbid).

Adobe reader is polished?
Well, they say they support hi-dpi multimonitor, so they must.
Hint: they don't. (primary monitor is at 250%, 2nd at 100%) Unless you like REALLY big pixels.
Let's just say I'm a really big fan of:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SideBySide] "PreferExternalManifest"=dword:00000001
and
mt -inputresource:fuckingstupid.exe;#1 -out:fuckingstupid.exe.manifest
and changing that shit. (for adobe, I changed "true/pm" to "true". Many other applications just get 'false'. Oh, and fuck you MS for making the default when an application does not specify it be
true
.)
