Political debate is everywhere and pollutes our lives; if Github wants to be free of it, I say good for them.
Or maybe github are super-sensitive to that kind of thing since the harrasment controversy that led to the resignation of one of their cofounders?

GitHub is a web site that provides tools for collaborative software development, so they're probably not too interested in hosting any kind of philosophico-political parody/trolls/statements.
Who are you? The voice of reason? What are you doing here?

Even the voice of reason enjoys the occasional troll from time to time..

If I were them, I'd have removed it simply for being off-topic, even if there was no complaint.
So companies should not have any sort of culture? They should just be completely lifeless and devoid of passion? Got it.

I remember that story now. The woman who quit just seemed like a whiny bitch to me. She never told the media about how one of the people she railed against was a former lover, how she dated several of the people there etc. It just sounded like a spurned lover story to me.

I came away with the impression that that the cofounder's wife sounded demented, but yeah, it was kinda fun trying to fill in the puzzle of "what actually happened" given the two completely different accounts of what went on...

GitHub removed a fucking rug because it promoted meritocracy and some shit eaters got offended by it and they caved?
Fuck those people. I don't want to live on this planet anymore. If I end up on a tower with a high-powered rifle, plinking people off, this was one of the last straws.

Hmm, will I be welcoming my PolyGeekery-ified Overlord or my new Zombie-Polygeekery-fed overlords??
EDIT: thxdkf letstry this:

That image is broken for anyone who didn't visit the IMDB page you're thinking about first.

okay, I believe it, image linking has been voodoo to me this whole time... suggested fix?

Well, if you want to maximise tolerance you can't tolerate intolerance.
If you want freedom you gotta lock kidnappers in jail.

Read this story: https://medium.com/@geeekcore1/facts-conveniently-withheld-d96f431f4e8e
Then go re-read the story that you posted. It made me see it in a completely different light and Julie Horvath started to seem like the chick from "Fatal Attraction".

suggested fix?
I usually do right click copy image paste. Some Discoursistency when using Firefox has been reported though.

Did the second link work?
-
Wikimedia? Yes, seems to be fine. I think wikimedia works in general.

You do realize that story was written by "Jane Doe" (who hasn't published anything else)?
I don't know, I'll agree we don't have all the facts on this, and there is a serious disagreement about who actually did what. I'd be very interested to know who "Jane Doe" actually is...
-

Yes, but just because a person chooses to post under an anonymous pseudonym does not mean that it is a lie. It does however mean that we should subject it to scrutiny. Even when I do that though, it just seems to be the missing piece.
What makes more sense? That the co-founder and his wife just went off the rails and started harassing this woman for no real reason? Or, that her story is the backlash of a spurned lover who went apeshit? #2 seems slightly more plausible to me.
Either way, the story of them removing the rug is still fucking stupid.
-

True, but we need to ask why they felt the need to post anonymously...

I reject your false dilemma. But admit that I have no idea. But it's fun to gossip about random people doing stuff and being mean to each other!

Considering the wagons that had circled around Julie when that happened, and the throngs of SJWs coming to her defense, wouldn't you?

But, but, if I was telling the truth, wouldn't that be enough?

Tell that to Edward Snowden. ;)

Interesting point, that... didn't he post, uh, nonymouslysp? for a particular reason? :D

Tell that to Edward Snowden.
Is that like if someone was telling the truth about your bank account and password?

...and now he lives in Russia. By telling his story in person, he had to give up this:

I'd be keeping my story quiet if that was the alternative.

- Possibly liberate the American people from oppressive surveillance tactics
- Keep having sex with her
Sorry America, if I am not thinking with my penis, I am acting directly upon its behalf.

I'm not American, so.....Also, spoilered the image for you. People at work etc.

Even less of a moral dilemma for you.
Also, spoilered the image for you. People at work etc.
Probably a good idea. Muchas gracias.
