The Official Status Thread

Nothing's wrong with 1NF. But I can think of a way they could have left the post_number out of the original design and still had a 1NF structure. And they would have been down by one post identifier.
-
Is there an entertaining-to-us story behind that?
Well. There's the OP in Production Maintenance From Belgium. There's the status I posted today.
There was also a post in the likes thread this morning, but I won't make you discosearch for that. Basically:
- Last year I was denied a raise in January because the software department was going to imminently be spun into a new company, and I was going to get a promotion and huge raise. That kept getting pushed back and has yet to happen.
- The week of New Year's I was promised a large raise by the end of the following week. Said raise has still not materialised, despite repeated requests on my part.
-
Ah. Yeah, that would be annoying. Good luck.

I'm looking for a new job
I was trying to find the "we want to employ people" page that every company's website has, but instead I found this:
-
Is the joke that no forum software...ever...has been worth $1000/month?
Well, unless it also comes with a cadre of hookers?
-
Yeah, yeah. Still working on it. Doesn't help that my job has me doing the work of an entire team. And now that I'm looking for a new job, things aren't likely to go much faster.
What happened?I missed that.Good luck on finding a job where you can actually get rewarded.

So Imperial Stout is happening.

We could petition Jeff to include mediawiki as well...
Please, let's. What's the worst that could happen?

Status: I have said it before, but I really hate the developers who wrote the UPS My Choice web app. It is supposed to alert you when a package is scheduled for delivery the next day, but they always come in a little after midnight when I am still up.
Oh, my package is getting here a day early? - checks tracking - Nope, still in California. Couldn't those assholes have set the mailer to run at 8am?
-
-
Well, unless it also comes with a cadre of hookers?
It has Server Cooties™ - will that do?
Please, let's. What's the worst that could happen?
More Server Cooties™?
-
What's the worst that could happen?
He could implement it.
Let's cram yet another syntax into our already-broken
parserregex. Bonus points if some markup has different meaning in one language than another, and Discourse tries to guess which effect you intended based on, well, it doesn't really matter much what it bases its guess on; its bound to guess wrong at least as often as right.

But if his ass gets fired, what will he sit on?
-
oooh... this promises to be some juicy gossip!
Not really. He is just a pain in the ass.
-
-
oh.
-
oh.
I was just annoyed earlier. The problem is just that I have outgrown his services. He is very detail oriented, which was great when I was getting started because I had a high-level overview of what I was doing but when it came to the minutiae I did not have a fucking clue. He was most helpful in explaining the fiddly bits to me and establishing good practices.
Also, he is old. He does not like using QuickBooks. He wants everything in spreadsheet format. And to be honest, he does not need any of it at all. All he really needs are final figures. I should be able to just run the reports within QuickBooks and hand those over to him for the final tally, etc. Nope, he wants it all in spreadsheets. With more detail than he needs. And it annoys me to no end. He does not need a spreadsheet with every expense on it. We meet at least twice a year to go over expenses and verify what is a QBE and what is not.
I should probably start looking for another accountant for 2015. I just dread it because accountants can be really strange folk. I know people give the IT field shit in saying that we are all strange introverts, but the accountants I know would make programmers look like social butterflies.
-
Oh, and another thing: He always complains about people that do not send me a 1099 and has even asked that I go back to them and have them send one. I straight up told him that was not going to happen...
Very detail oriented.

Status: Away from home for two nights and TV in the US seems to have gone crazy while I was away. Trying to catch up on all of the downloaded episodes.

TV in the US seems to have gone crazy while I was away.
While you were away sometime in 2008, right?
-
By crazy I just meant from there being like 2/3 of the shows I have downloaded automatically a week to suddenly like 9/10.
-
Shows are back in season.......same thing will happen in the fall.
-
I never have quite got my head around how the TV schedules work in the US.
Here a show is generally shown with the whole season on consecutive weeks start to finish, not half a season here, half a season there. Random gaps of a week or two are irritating as well, but I just assume those down to some big holiday/event/whatever going on at the time that I'm not aware of so it doesn't bother me too much.

You'll see a big gap this weekend...
-
For what?
Most of the shows that download automatically are mid-week shows.
-

Yeah, it is really annoying when they just up and decide to redefine what a season is. Breaking Bad decided to air half the episodes of a season one year and half the next. That just means they were two different seasons to me, but they all fall under one season year. Annoying.

Makes more sense than how Sonic Boom is being broadcast in the US. The first series will be a full 52 episodes; they broadcast eight before Christmas, then had a three-week break (or something of that magnitude).
The show's not hitting the UK till August, so I'm downloading them; Sega doesn't believe in Europe, it seems.

-
The 3 week Christmas break seems pretty common - and they can't show for 52 weeks without hitting it at some point.
-
-
For what?
Most of the shows that download automatically are mid-week shows. The ones that aren't "most shows", evidently.
-
I meant what event/whatever is the break for?
-
They show it in France.
True, but only because a French company works on the show.
@loopback0 said:The 3 week Christmas break seems pretty common - and they can't show for 52 weeks without hitting it at some point.
They were showing two a week (they're 11-minute episodes) for the first three weeks, then, for some reason, switched to one a week

Trust me: the show's a lot better than the (Wii U) game. But then so's chronic diarrhœa. But anyway, I like the showThe scarf is fucking stupid though.

Super Sportsball Bowl
Very few new shows will be aired Sunday, since they don't want to go up against that.
-
I meant what event/whatever is the break for?
There's the SuperBowl and the Phoenix Open, which is a bigger deal than usual with Tiger Woods involved this year.
-
Phoenix is open? I didn't know it was closed.

I'd be afraid of it, too. Afraid of being bored to death.
