that makes me feel old.....
The Lion King was released 2 days before @ben_lubar was born.
(I'm 5 months older than you, if that's any consolation)
-
-
great.... now i have to find out how old he is..... -sigh-
He's in college, so you can estimate around 20....if I hadn't seen that he already gave (what is presumably) his birthdate.

1984, Interesting year to refer back to in certain contexts. I think I've seen someone mention they're 31?
EDIT: Damn you discourse
-
Which one? If there's a few, you've missed one; no pencil icon on it:
This one:

The one you refer to is intentional sarcasm.

It was a good year.

There are a lot of people here who are older than you.
Yes, I know, that's why I said it!

1983 baby here...

I would like to raise my hand.
I would not really like to raise my hand, but honesty compels me to do so. And, unfortunately, to admit to being older than any response I have read (though I have only read a couple, so far).
-
And now, having read to the end of the topic, I still haven't seen anyone admit to being as old as I am. /me is sad.

did e get it right?

tell you what 1986.xx.xx you can work it out from there.
When I was your age, we were singing Prince's 1999 in 1999, with my wife on new year's eve!

Rolling 1d80: 16

what does the b even do
-
-
I thought it was bonus, but there is no number in [1, 80] that you can add 150 to and get 16.
-
It's possible b isn't a switch and thus the 150 was ignored.
-
No, I do recall it being bonus. Maybe it's bonus to the sum and the sum isn't printed for single roll? Hence bug.

-sigh- its probably a regression in the dice roller.
i'll look into it later today.

Oh man do I feel old now. I remember watching Lion King in theaters.

-
No.

I remember watching Lion King in theaters.
When that came out, I was no longer interested in watching Disney movies for myself, and didn't yet (by about a week) have kids to take, so I never saw it. I was going to post the earliest movie I can remember seeing, but it must have been a re-release, as it was originally released before I was born. So I'll just say I was more than old enough to see this when it came out without having to sneak in.

- Minimum age to get in without sneaking or parent: 17.
- Released 28 July 1978.
- You stated "more than old enough, so it's safe to say you were at least 18 at the time.
Conclusion: You were born no later than 28 July 1960.
-
Correct. I was, sad to say, born some time prior to that date.

Correct. I was, sad to say, born some time prior to that date.
So you're more experienced. Awesome to know.
-
What I tell people: don't blame me for my age. I was not there when that decision was made.
-
more experienced
More than? You? Anybody else here? More than you thought I did?
And in what? I may have experienced life in general longer than you and a lot of other people here, but that in itself does not necessarily confer experience, much less wisdom, in any particular area. A lot of you have more experience than I do in most things CompSci. (I'm an EE with a decent but not thorough knowledge of CS.) I may have more experience at, say, raising kids, but many of you seem to have far more knowledge of, say, subtle genre distinctions within what I would lump all together as "rock." As a college photography instructor (and possibly the first adult non-relative I was ever on a first-name basis with) said, "I know things you don't. You know things I don't. That makes us equal.1" The fact that I've been around long enough to remember (barely) the Great Renaming or JFK's assassination doesn't make me better than you. At best, it gives me a couple more anecdotes with which to bore people.
don't blame me for my age. I was not there when that decision was made.
I would like this, but I'm out for another 19.5 hours.1That's almost certainly not what he said — it's been well over 30 years — but that's more-or-less the gist.
-
That's almost a whoosh right there. It's a euphemism for being older, but a nice one... being more experienced at this journey called life than I am. Having seen more, learned more, done more.
You'll notice I was careful not to imply betterness. Simply that you have more experiences than I do to draw upon. I've met many people older than myself that have the extra experiences but fail to draw upon them. The habit of observing experiences and drawing upon them is something I see in you.
-

You haven't seen me IRL. Sadly, this is me.
Or, more accurately, not expecting different results. Rather, knowing the result is going to be yet another disaster, but doing it anyway.

The difference is that you have more experience to draw upon in fixing it.

I'm also part of this cool kids club now!

So apparently I come in here now and pat myself on the back?

I just noticed that @HardwareGeek isn't one of the 5% anymore.
Looks like he'll have to change his avatar.
