Why use those for the public?
Smart people ('Murica!) use them for car races!

Modern day Ben Hur chariot races.

car races!
Not a fan. Especially when they come to P<hoenix>I<nternational>R<aceway>. Totally fucks up traffic around here.
Speaking of bad traffic, I need to make vacation plans around Feb 1.

I just realized that I'll be in Arizona next weekend, although nowhere near Phoenix.

Melted asphalt would do that
Huh? The asphalt around here doesn't just spontaneously melt. That's one of the reasons that rubberized asphalt was first used in Phoenix. WTF are you talking about?

Let's take a look at that entire post shall we?

Based on simple context, one would be correct in assuming that "they" refers to the "car races" that I quoted from @chubertdev's post. I can only assume that you thought I meant the jet blower trucks, due to some failed reading comprehension.
You are hereby nominated for a "Whooosh!"

WOOT!!
(Don't tell PJH, but in my defense, those are trucks (with jet engines) in the picture (I (can (nest (parens) too)))
And since it's 'Merican, why the gosh-darn heck wouldn't that be jet-powered truck racing??)
Filed under: Forgot about drying the track - must have buttumed they were using the jets as turbines.

And since it's 'Merican, why the gosh-darn heck wouldn't that be jet-powered truck racing?
Because the jet exhaust is pointing out the side.
-
Wouldn't that help with drifting if done correctly?
-
Filed under: Forgot about drying the track - must have buttumed they were using the jets as turbines.
Just figured that exhaust would make passing that much more exciting!!
Filed under: who need a whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooosh?
Yes. I did make a jet noise to myself while I typed that. It was fun.
-
Wouldn't that help with drifting if done correctly?
Maybe. But it would be a PITA on straight runs.

That was arbitrary and capricious.
It (the deleted post, but it was quoted before then) was flagged by someone else prior to my comment and his that I quoted.

No srsly it would be kinda cool in a way.
Fuck, I think I'm a technological hipster.

Someone already made PostSecret.

A forum where you can only reply to threads by fax or postal letter!
Newspapers used to do this, but I assume they accept letters to the editor by email these days, and possibly from a contact form on their webpages.
-
But a newspaper's not a forum. You can't derail threads, post pictures of your cat, or make silly memes. It's no fun.
-
The letters section is just a heavily moderated (modern hipsters might say curated) forum.
-
